Daniel 1

 1. In the third <7969 shalowsh > year <8141 shaneh > of the reign

<4438 malkuwth > of Jehoiakim <3079 Y@howyaqiym > king <4428 melek >

of Judah <3063 Y@huwdah > came <0935 bow> > Nebuchadnezzar <5019

N@buwkadne>tstsar > king <4428 melek > of Babylon <0894 Babel > unto

Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >, and besieged <6696 tsuwr > it.

 2 And the Lord <0136 >Adonay > gave <5414 nathan > Jehoiakim <3079

Y@howyaqiym > king <4428 melek > of Judah <3063 Y@huwdah > into his

hand <3027 yad >, with part <7117 q@tsath > of the vessels <3627

k@liy > of the house <1004 bayith > of God <0430 >elohiym >: which

he carried <0935 bow> > into the land <0776 >erets > of Shinar <8152

Shin<ar > to the house <1004 bayith > of his god <0430 >elohiym >;

and he brought <0935 bow> > the vessels <3627 k@liy > into the

treasure <0214 >owtsar > house <1004 bayith > of his god <0430

>elohiym >.

 3 And the king <4428 melek > spake <0559 >amar > unto Ashpenaz

<0828 >Ashp@naz > the master <7227 rab > of his eunuchs <5631 cariyc

>, that he should bring <0935 bow> > [certain] of the children <1121

ben > of Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, and of the king's <4410 m@luwkah >

seed <2233 zera< >, and of the princes <6579 partam >;

 4 Children <3206 yeled > in whom [was] no <0369 >ayin > blemish

<3971 m>uwm >, but well <2896 towb > favoured <4758 mar>eh >, and

skilful <7919 sakal > in all <3605 kol > wisdom <2451 chokmah >, and

cunning <3045 yada< > in knowledge <1847 da<ath >, and understanding

<0995 biyn > science <4093 madda< >, and such as [had] ability <3581

koach > in them to stand <5975 <amad > in the king's <4428 melek >

palace <1964 heykal >, and whom they might teach <3925 lamad > the

learning <5612 cepher > and the tongue <3956 lashown > of the

Chaldeans <3779 Kasday >.

 5 And the king <4428 melek > appointed <4487 manah > them a daily

<3117 yowm > provision <1697 dabar > of the king's <4428 melek >

meat <6598 pathbag >, and of the wine <3196 yayin > which he drank

<4960 mishteh >: so nourishing <1431 gadal > them three <7969

shalowsh > years <8141 shaneh >, that at the end <7117 q@tsath >

thereof they might stand <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > the

king <4428 melek >.

6 Now among these <1992 hem > were of the children <1121 ben > of

Judah <3063 Y@huwdah >, Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, Hananiah <2608

Chananyah >, Mishael <4332 Miysha>el >, and Azariah <5838 <Azaryah

>:

7 Unto whom <1992 hem > the prince <8269 sar > of the eunuchs <5631

cariyc > gave <7760 suwm > names <8034 shem >: for he gave <7760

suwm > unto Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > [the name <8034 shem >] of

Belteshazzar <1095 Belt@sha>tstsar >; and to Hananiah <2608

Chananyah >, of Shadrach <7714 Shadrak >; and to Mishael <4332

Miysha>el >, of Meshach <4335 Meyshak >; and to Azariah <5838

<Azaryah >, of Abednego <5664 <Abed N@gow >.

 8. But Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > purposed <7760 suwm > in his heart

<3820 leb > that he would not defile <1351 ga>al > himself with the

portion <6598 pathbag > of the king's <4428 melek > meat <6598

pathbag >, nor with the wine <3196 yayin > which he drank <4960

mishteh >: therefore he requested <1245 baqash > of the prince <8269

sar > of the eunuchs <5631 cariyc > that he might not defile <1351

ga>al > himself.

 9 Now God <0430 >elohiym > had brought <5414 nathan > Daniel <1840

Daniye>l > into favour <2617 checed > and tender love with the

prince <8269 sar > of the eunuchs <5631 cariyc >.

10 And the prince <8269 sar > of the eunuchs <5631 cariyc > said

<0559 >amar > unto Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, I fear <3373 yare> > my

lord <0113 >adown > the king <4428 melek >, who <0834 >aher > hath

appointed <4487 manah > your meat <3978 ma>akal > and your drink

<4960 mishteh >: for why <4100 mah > should he see <7200 ra>ah >

your faces <6440 paniym > worse <2196 za<aph > liking than <4480 min

> the children <3206 yeled > which <0834 >aher > [are] of your sort

<1524 giyl >? then shall ye make [me] endanger <2325 chuwb > my head

<7218 ro>sh > to the king <4428 melek >.

 11 Then said <0559 >amar > Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > to Melzar <4453

meltsar >, whom <0834 >aher > the prince <8269 sar > of the eunuchs

<5631 cariyc > had set <4487 manah > over <5921 <al > Daniel <1840

Daniye>l >, Hananiah <2608 Chananyah >, Mishael <4332 Miysha>el >,

and Azariah <5838 <Azaryah >,

 12 Prove <5254 nacah > thy servants <5650 <ebed >, I beseech <4994

na> > thee, ten <6235 <eser > days <3117 yowm >; and let them give

<5414 nathan > us pulse <2235 zeroa< > to eat <0398 >akal >, and

water <4325 mayim > to drink <8354 shathah >.

 13 Then let our countenances <4758 mar>eh > be looked <7200 ra>ah >

upon before <6440 paniym > thee, and the countenance <4758 mar>eh >

of the children <3206 yeled > that eat <0398 >akal > of the portion

<6598 pathbag > of the king's <4428 melek > meat <6598 pathbag >:

and as thou seest <7200 ra>ah >, deal <6213 <asah > with thy

servants <5650 <ebed >.

 14 So he consented <8085 shama< > to them in this <2088 zeh >

matter <1697 dabar >, and proved <5254 nacah > them ten <6235 <eser

> days <3117 yowm >.

 15 And at the end <7117 q@tsath > of ten <6235 <eser > days <3117

yowm > their countenances <4758 mar>eh > appeared <7200 ra>ah >

fairer <2896 towb > and fatter <1277 bariy> > in flesh <1320 basar >

than <4480 min > all <3605 kol > the children <3206 yeled > which

did eat <0398 >akal > the portion <6598 pathbag > of the king's

<4428 melek > meat <6598 pathbag >.

 16 Thus Melzar <4453 meltsar > took <5375 nasa> > away the portion

<6598 pathbag > of their meat <6598 pathbag >, and the wine <3196

yayin > that they should drink <4960 mishteh >; and gave <5414

nathan > them pulse <2235 zeroa< >.

 17. As for these <0428 >el-leh > four <0702 >arba< > children <3206

yeled >, God <0430 >elohiym > gave <5414 nathan > them knowledge

<4093 madda< > and skill <7919 sakal > in all <3605 kol > learning

<5612 cepher > and wisdom <2451 chokmah >: and Daniel <1840 Daniye>l

> had understanding <0995 biyn > in all <3605 kol > visions <2377

chazown > and dreams <2472 chalowm >.

18 Now at the end <7117 q@tsath > of the days <3117 yowm > that the

king <4428 melek > had said <0559 >amar > he should bring <0935 bow>

> them in, then the prince <8269 sar > of the eunuchs <5631 cariyc >

brought <0935 bow> > them in before <6440 paniym > Nebuchadnezzar

<5019 N@buwkadne>tstsar >.

19 And the king <4428 melek > communed <1696 dabar > with them; and

among them all <3605 kol > was found <4672 matsa> > none <3808 lo> >

like Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, Hananiah <2608 Chananyah >, Mishael

<4332 Miysha>el >, and Azariah <5838 <Azaryah >: therefore stood

<5975 <amad > they before <6440 paniym > the king <4428 melek >.

 20 And in all <3605 kol > matters <1697 dabar > of wisdom <2451

chokmah > [and] understanding <0998 biynah >, that the king <4428

melek > enquired <1245 baqash > of them, he found <4672 matsa> >

them ten <6235 <eser > times better <3027 yad > than <5921 <al > all

<3605 kol > the magicians <2748 chartom > [and] astrologers <0825

>ashshaph > that [were] in all <3605 kol > his realm <4438 malkuwth

>.

 21 And Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > continued <1961 hayah > [even] unto

the first <0259 >echad > year <8141 shaneh > of king <4428 melek >

Cyrus <3566 Kowresh >.

Daniel 2

 1. And in the second <8147 sh@nayim > year <8141 shaneh > of the

reign <4438 malkuwth > of Nebuchadnezzar <5019 N@buwkadne>tstsar >

Nebuchadnezzar <5019 N@buwkadne>tstsar > dreamed <2492 chalam >

dreams <2472 chalowm >, wherewith his spirit <7307 ruwach > was

troubled <6470 pa<am >, and his sleep <8142 shehah > brake <1961

hayah > from him.

 2 Then the king <4428 melek > commanded <0559 >amar > to call <7121

qara> > the magicians <2748 chartom >, and the astrologers <0825

>ashshaph >, and the sorcerers <3784 kashaph >, and the Chaldeans

<3779 Kasday >, for to shew <5046 nagad > the king <4428 melek > his

dreams <2472 chalowm >. So they came <0935 bow> > and stood <5975

<amad > before <6440 paniym > the king <4428 melek >.

 3 And the king <4428 melek > said <0559 >amar > unto them, I have

dreamed <2492 chalam > a dream <2472 chalowm >, and my spirit <7307

ruwach > was troubled <6470 pa<am > to know <3045 yada< > the dream

<2472 chalowm >.

4 Then spake <1696 dabar > the Chaldeans <3779 Kasday > to the king

<4428 melek > in Syriack <0762 >Aramiyth >, O king <4430 melek >,

live <2418 chaya> > for ever <5957 <alam >: tell <0560 >amar > thy

servants <5649 <abad > the dream <2493 chelem >, and we will shew

<2324 chava> > the interpretation <6591 p@shar >.

 5 The king <4430 melek > answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560

>amar > to the Chaldeans <3779 Kasday >, The thing <4406 millah > is

gone <0230 >azad > from me: if <2006 hen > ye will not make known

<3046 y@da< > unto me the dream <2493 chelem >, with the

interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof, ye shall be cut <5648 <abad >

in pieces <1917 haddam >, and your houses <1005 bayith > shall be

made <7761 suwm > a dunghill <5122 n@valuw >.

 6 But if <2006 hen > ye shew <2324 chava> > the dream <2493 chelem

>, and the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof, ye shall receive

<6902 q@bal > of me gifts <4978 matt@na> > and rewards <5023

n@bizbah > and great <7690 saggiy> > honour <3367 y@qar >: therefore

<2006 hen > shew <2324 chava> > me the dream <2493 chelem >, and the

interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof.

 7 They answered <6032 <anah > again <8579 tinyanuwth > and said

<0560 >amar >, Let the king <4430 melek > tell <0560 >amar > his

servants <5649 <abad > the dream <2493 chelem >, and we will shew

<2324 chava> > the interpretation <6591 p@shar > of it.

 8 The king <4430 melek > answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560

>amar >, I know <3046 y@da< > of certainty <3330 yatstsiyb > that ye

would gain <2084 z@ban > the time <5732 <iddan >, because ye see

<2370 chaza> > the thing <4406 millah > is gone <0230 >azad > from

me.

9 But if <2006 hen > ye will not make known <3046 y@da< > unto me

the dream <2493 chelem >, [there is but] one <2298 chad > decree

<1882 dath > for you: for ye have prepared <2164 z@man > lying <3538

k@dab > and corrupt <7844 sh@chath > words <4406 millah > to speak

<0560 >amar > before <6925 qodam > me, till <5704 <ad > the time

<5732 <iddan > be changed <8133 sh@na> >: therefore <2006 hen > tell

<0560 >amar > me the dream <2493 chelem >, and I shall know <3046

y@da< > that ye can shew <2324 chava> > me the interpretation <6591

p@shar > thereof.

 10 The Chaldeans <3779 Kasday > answered <6032 <anah > before <6925

qodam > the king <4430 melek >, and said <0560 >amar >, There is not

a man <0606 >enash > upon the earth <3007 yabbesheth > that can

<3202 y@kel > shew <2324 chava> > the king's <4430 melek > matter

<4406 millah >: therefore [there is] no king <4430 melek >, lord

<7229 rab >, nor ruler <7990 shalliyt >, [that] asked <7593 sh@>el >

such <1836 den > things at any <3606 kol > magician <2749 chartom >,

or astrologer <0826 >ashshaph >, or Chaldean <3777 Kesed >.

11 And [it is] a rare <3358 yaqqiyr > thing <4406 millah > that the

king <4430 melek > requireth <7593 sh@>el >, and there is none <3809

la> > other <0321 >ochoran > that can shew <2324 chava> > it before

<6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >, except <3861 lawhen > the gods

<0426 >elahh >, whose <1768 diy > dwelling <4070 m@dowr > is not

with flesh <1321 b@sar >.

12 For this <1836 den > cause the king <4430 melek > was angry

<1149 b@nac > and very <7690 saggiy> > furious <7108 q@tsaph >, and

commanded <0560 >amar > to destroy <7> all <3606 kol > the wise

<2445 chakkiym > [men] of Babylon <0895 Babel >.

 13 And the decree <1882 dath > went <5312 n@phaq > forth <5312

n@phaq > that the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men] should be slain <6992

q@tal >; and they sought <1158 ba<ah > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > and

his fellows <2269 chabar > to be slain <6992 q@tal >.

 14. Then <0116 >edayin > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > answered <8421

tuwb > with counsel <5843 <eta> > and wisdom <2942 t@<em > to Arioch

<0746 >Aryowk > the captain <7229 rab > of the king's <4430 melek >

guard <2877 tabbach >, which <1768 diy > was gone <5312 n@phaq >

forth <5312 n@phaq > to slay <6992 q@tal > the wise <2445 chakkiym >

[men] of Babylon <0895 Babel >:

 15 He answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar > to Arioch <0746

>Aryowk > the king's <4430 melek > captain <7990 shalliyt >, Why

[is] the decree <1882 dath > [so] hasty <2685 chatsaph > from the

king <4430 melek >? Then <0116 >edayin > Arioch <0746 >Aryowk > made

the thing <4406 millah > known <3046 y@da< > to Daniel <1841

Daniye>l >.

 16 Then Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > went <5954 <alal > in, and desired

<1156 b@<a> > of the king <4430 melek > that he would give <5415

n@than > him time <2166 z@man >, and that he would shew <2324 chava>

> the king <4430 melek > the interpretation <6591 p@shar >.

 17 Then <0116 >edayin > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > went <0236 >azal >

to his house <1005 bayith >, and made the thing <4406 millah > known

<3046 y@da< > to Hananiah <2608 Chananyah >, Mishael <4332 Miysha>el

>, and Azariah <5839 <Azaryah >, his companions <2269 chabar >:

 18 That they would desire <1156 b@<a> > mercies <7359 r@chem > of

the God <0426 >elahh > of heaven <8065 shamayin > concerning <5922

<al > this <1836 den > secret <7328 raz >; that Daniel <1841

Daniye>l > and his fellows <2269 chabar > should not perish <7> with

the rest <7606 sh@>ar > of the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men] of

Babylon <0895 Babel >.

 19 Then <0116 >edayin > was the secret <7328 raz > revealed <1541

g@lah > unto Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > in a night <3916 leyl@ya> >

vision <2376 chezev >. Then <0116 >edayin > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >

blessed <1289 b@rak > the God <0426 >elahh > of heaven <8065

shamayin >.

 20 Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560

>amar >, Blessed <1289 b@rak > be the name <8036 shum > of God <0426

>elahh > for ever <5957 <alam > and ever <5957 <alam >: for wisdom

<2452 chokmah > and might <1370 g@buwrah > are his:

 21 And he changeth <8133 sh@na> > the times <5732 <iddan > and the

seasons <2166 z@man >: he removeth <5709 <ada> > kings <4430 melek

>, and setteth <6966 quwm > up kings <4430 melek >: he giveth <3052

y@hab > wisdom <2452 chokmah > unto the wise <2445 chakkiym >, and

knowledge <0998 biynah > to them that know <3046 y@da< >

understanding <0999 biynah >:

 22 He revealeth <1541 g@lah > the deep <5994 <amiyq > and secret

<5642 c@thar > things: he knoweth <3046 y@da< > what <4101 mah >

[is] in the darkness <2816 chashowk >, and the light <5094 n@hiyr >

dwelleth <8271 sh@re> > with him.

 23 I thank <3029 y@da> > thee, and praise <7624 sh@bach > thee, O

thou God <0426 >elahh > of my fathers <2>, who <1768 diy > hast

given <3052 y@hab > me wisdom <2452 chokmah > and might <1370

g@buwrah >, and hast made known <3046 y@da< > unto me now <3705

k@<an > what <1768 diy > we desired <1156 b@<a> > of thee: for thou

hast [now <3705 k@<an >] made known <3046 y@da< > unto us the king's

<4430 melek > matter <4406 millah >.

 24. Therefore Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > went <5954 <alal > in unto

Arioch <0746 >Aryowk >, whom <1768 diy > the king <4430 melek > had

ordained <4483 m@na> > to destroy <7> the wise <2445 chakkiym >

[men] of Babylon <0895 Babel >: he went <0236 >azal > and said <0560

>amar > thus <3652 ken > unto him; Destroy <7> not the wise <2445

chakkiym > [men] of Babylon <0895 Babel >: bring <5924 <ella> > me

in before <6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >, and I will shew

<2324 chava> > unto the king <4430 melek > the interpretation <6591

p@shar >.

 25 Then <0116 >edayin > Arioch <0746 >Aryowk > brought <5954 <alal

> in Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > before <6925 qodam > the king <4430

melek > in haste <0927 b@hal >, and said <0560 >amar > thus <3652

ken > unto him, I have found <4672 matsa> > a man <1400 g@bar > of

the captives of Judah <3061 Y@huwd >, that will make known <3046

y@da< > unto the king <4430 melek > the interpretation <6591 p@shar

>.

 26 The king <4430 melek > answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560

>amar > to Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, whose <1768 diy > name <8036

shum > [was] Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar >, Art <0383 >iythay

> thou able <3546 k@hal > to make known <3046 y@da< > unto me the

dream <2493 chelem > which <1768 diy > I have seen <2370 chaza> >,

and the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof?

 27 Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > answered <6032 <anah > in the presence

<6925 qodam > of the king <4430 melek >, and said <0560 >amar >, The

secret <7328 raz > which <1768 diy > the king <4430 melek > hath

demanded <7593 sh@>el > cannot the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men], the

astrologers <0826 >ashshaph >, the magicians <2749 chartom >, the

soothsayers <1505 g@zar >, shew <2324 chava> > unto the king <4430

melek >;

 28 But there is a God <0426 >elahh > in heaven <8065 shamayin >

that revealeth <1541 g@lah > secrets <7328 raz >, and maketh known

<3046 y@da< > to the king <4430 melek > Nebuchadnezzar <5020

N@buwkadnetstsar > what <4101 mah > shall be in the latter <0320

>achariyth > days <3118 yowm >. Thy dream <2493 chelem >, and the

visions <2376 chezev > of thy head <7217 re>sh > upon thy bed <4903

mishkab >, are these <1836 den >;

 29 As for thee, O king <4430 melek >, thy thoughts <7476 ra<yown >

came <5559 c@liq > [into thy mind] upon thy bed <4903 mishkab >,

what <4101 mah > should come <1934 hava> > to pass hereafter: and he

that revealeth <1541 g@lah > secrets <7328 raz > maketh known <3046

y@da< > to thee what <4101 mah > shall come <1934 hava> > to pass.

30 But as for me, this <1836 den > secret <7328 raz > is not

revealed <1541 g@lah > to me for [any] wisdom <2452 chokmah > that I

have <0383 >iythay > more <4481 min > than <4481 min > any <3606 kol

> living <2417 chay >, but for [their] sakes <1701 dibrah > that

shall make known <3046 y@da< > the interpretation <6591 p@shar > to

the king <4430 melek >, and that thou mightest know <3046 y@da< >

the thoughts <7476 ra<yown > of thy heart <3825 l@bab >.

 31. Thou, O king <4430 melek >, sawest <2370 chaza> >, and behold

<0431 >aluw > a great <7690 saggiy> > image <6755 tselem >. This

<1797 dikken > great <7229 rab > image <6755 tselem >, whose

brightness <2122 ziyv > [was] excellent <3493 yattiyr >, stood <6966

quwm > before <6903 q@bel > thee; and the form <7299 rev > thereof

[was] terrible <1763 d@chal >.

 32 This <1931 huw> > image's <6755 tselem > head <7217 re>sh >

[was] of fine <2869 tab > gold <1722 d@hab >, his breast <2306

chadiy > and his arms <1672 da>ag > of silver <3702 k@caph >, his

belly <4577 m@<ah > and his thighs <3410 yarka> > of brass <5174

n@chash >,

 33 His legs <8243 shaq > of iron <6523 parzel >, his feet <7271

r@gal > part <4481 min > of iron <6523 parzel > and part <4481 min >

of clay <2635 chacaph >.

 34 Thou sawest <2370 chaza> > till <5704 <ad > that a stone <69>

was cut <1505 g@zar > out without hands <3028 yad >, which smote

<4223 m@cha> > the image <6755 tselem > upon his feet <7271 r@gal >

[that were] of iron <6523 parzel > and clay <2635 chacaph >, and

brake <1855 d@qaq > them to pieces.

 35 Then <0116 >edayin > was the iron <6523 parzel >, the clay <2635

chacaph >, the brass <5174 n@chash >, the silver <3702 k@caph >, and

the gold <1722 d@hab >, broken <1854 daqaq > to pieces together

<2298 chad >, and became <1934 hava> > like the chaff <5784 <uwr >

of the summer <7007 qayit > threshingfloors <0147 >iddar >; and the

wind <7308 ruwach > carried <5376 n@sa> > them away, that no place

<0870 >athar > was found <7912 sh@kach > for them: and the stone

<69> that smote <4223 m@cha> > the image <6755 tselem > became <1934

hava> > a great <7229 rab > mountain <2906 tuwr >, and filled <4391

m@la> > the whole <3606 kol > earth <0772 >ara< >.

36 This <1836 den > [is] the dream <2493 chelem >; and we will tell

<0560 >amar > the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof before <6925

qodam > the king <4430 melek >.

 37 Thou, O king <4430 melek >, [art] a king <4430 melek > of kings

<4430 melek >: for the God <0426 >elahh > of heaven <8065 shamayin >

hath given <3052 y@hab > thee a kingdom <4437 malkuw >, power <2632

checen >, and strength <8632 t@qoph >, and glory <3367 y@qar >.

 38 And wheresoever the children <1123 ben > of men <0606 >enash >

dwell <1753 duwr >, the beasts <2423 cheyva> > of the field <1251

bar > and the fowls <5776 <owph > of the heaven <8065 shamayin >

hath he given <3052 y@hab > into thine hand <3028 yad >, and hath

made thee ruler <7981 sh@let > over them all <3606 kol >. Thou [art]

this <1931 huw> > head <7217 re>sh > of gold <1722 d@hab >.

 39 And after <0870 >athar > thee shall arise <6965 quwm > another

<0317 >ochoriy > kingdom <4437 malkuw > inferior <0772 >ara< > to

thee, and another <0317 >ochoriy > third <8523 t@liythay > kingdom

<4437 malkuw > of brass <5174 n@chash >, which <1768 diy > shall

bear <7981 sh@let > rule <7981 sh@let > over all <3606 kol > the

earth <0772 >ara< >.

 40 And the fourth <7244 r@biy<ay > kingdom <4437 malkuw > shall be

strong <8624 taqqiyph > as iron <6523 parzel >: forasmuch as iron

<6523 parzel > breaketh <1855 d@qaq > in pieces and subdueth <2827

chashal > all <3606 kol > [things]: and as iron <6523 parzel > that

breaketh <7940 Sakar > all <3606 kol > these <0459 >illeyn >, shall

it break <1854 daqaq > in pieces and bruise <7490 r@<a< >.

 41 And whereas <1768 diy > thou sawest <2370 chaza> > the feet

<7271 r@gal > and toes <0677 >etsba< >, part <4481 min > of potters

<6353 pechar >' clay <2635 chacaph >, and part <4481 min > of iron

<6523 parzel >, the kingdom <4437 malkuw > shall be divided <6386

p@lag >; but there shall be in it of the strength <5326 nitsbah > of

the iron <6523 parzel >, forasmuch as thou sawest <2370 chaza> > the

iron <6523 parzel > mixed <6151 <arab > with miry <2917 tiyn > clay

<2635 chacaph >.

 42 And [as] the toes <0677 >etsba< > of the feet <7271 r@gal >

[were] part <4481 min > of iron <6523 parzel >, and part <4481 min >

of clay <2635 chacaph >, [so] the kingdom <4437 malkuw > shall be

partly <7118 q@tsath > strong <8624 taqqiyph >, and partly <7118

q@tsath > broken <8406 t@bar >.

 43 And whereas <1768 diy > thou sawest <2370 chaza> > iron <6523

parzel > mixed <6151 <arab > with miry <2917 tiyn > clay <2635

chacaph >, they shall mingle <6151 <arab > themselves with the seed

<2234 z@ra< > of men <0606 >enash >: but they shall not cleave <1693

d@baq > one <1836 den > to another <1836 den >, even <1887 he> > as

iron <6523 parzel > is not mixed <6151 <arab > with clay <2635

chacaph >.

 44 And in the days <3118 yowm > of these <0581 >innuwn > kings

<4430 melek > shall the God <0426 >elahh > of heaven <8065 shamayin

> set <6966 quwm > up a kingdom <4437 malkuw >, which <1768 diy >

shall never be destroyed <2255 chabal >: and the kingdom <4437

malkuw > shall not be left <7662 sh@baq > to other <0321 >ochoran >

people <5972 <am >, [but] it shall break <1854 daqaq > in pieces and

consume <5487 cuwph > all <3606 kol > these <0459 >illeyn > kingdoms

<4437 malkuw >, and it shall stand <6966 quwm > for ever <5957 <alam

>.

45 Forasmuch as thou sawest <2370 chaza> > that the stone <69> was

cut <1505 g@zar > out of the mountain <2906 tuwr > without hands

<3028 yad >, and that it brake <1855 d@qaq > in pieces the iron

<6523 parzel >, the brass <5174 n@chash >, the clay <2635 chacaph >,

the silver <3702 k@caph >, and the gold <1722 d@hab >; the great

<7229 rab > God <0426 >elahh > hath made known <3046 y@da< > to the

king <4430 melek > what <4101 mah > shall come <1934 hava> > to pass

hereafter: and the dream <2493 chelem > [is] certain <3330 yatstsiyb

>, and the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof sure <0546 >omnah

>.

 46. Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > Nebuchadnezzar

<5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > fell <5308 n@phal > upon his face <0600

>anaph >, and worshipped <5457 c@gid > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, and

commanded <0560 >amar > that they should offer <5260 n@cak > an

oblation <8641 t@ruwmah > and sweet <5208 niychowach > odours <5208

niychowach > unto him.

 47 The king <4430 melek > answered <6032 <anah > unto Daniel <1841

Daniye>l >, and said <0560 >amar >, Of a truth <7187 q@showt > [it

is], that your God <0426 >elahh > [is] a God <0426 >elahh > of gods

<0426 >elahh >, and a Lord <4756 mare> > of kings <4430 melek >, and

a revealer <1541 g@lah > of secrets <7328 raz >, seeing <1768 diy >

thou couldest <3202 y@kel > reveal <1541 g@lah > this <1836 den >

secret <7328 raz >.

 48 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > made <7236 r@bah >

Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > a great <7236 r@bah > man, and gave <3052

y@hab > him many <7690 saggiy> > great <7260 rabrab > gifts <4978

matt@na> >, and made him ruler <7981 sh@let > over <5922 <al > the

whole <3606 kol > province <4083 m@diynah > of Babylon <0895 Babel

>, and chief <7229 rab > of the governors <5461 cagan > over <5922

<al > all <3606 kol > the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men] of Babylon

<0895 Babel >.

 49 Then Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > requested <1156 b@<a> > of the king

<4430 melek >, and he set <4483 m@na> > Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >,

Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >, over

<5922 <al > the affairs <5673 <abiydah > of the province <4083

m@diynah > of Babylon <0895 Babel >: but Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >

[sat] in the gate <8651 t@ra< > of the king <4430 melek >.

Daniel 3

 1. Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > the king <4430 melek >

made <5648 <abad > an image <6755 tselem > of gold <1722 d@hab >,

whose <1768 diy > height <7314 ruwm > [was] threescore <8361

shittiyn > cubits <0521 >ammah >, [and] the breadth <6613 p@thay >

thereof six <8353 sheth > cubits <0521 >ammah >: he set <6966 quwm >

it up in the plain <1236 biq<a> > of Dura <1757 Duwra> >, in the

province <4083 m@diynah > of Babylon <0895 Babel >.

 2 Then Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > the king <4430 melek

> sent <7972 sh@lach > to gather <3673 kanash > together the princes

<0324 >achashdarpan >, the governors <5461 cagan >, and the captains

<6347 pechah >, the judges <0148 >adargazer >, the treasurers <1411

g@dabar >, the counsellors <1884 d@thabar >, the sheriffs <8614

tiphtay >, and all <3606 kol > the rulers <7984 shiltown > of the

provinces <4082 m@diynah >, to come <0858 >athah > to the dedication

<2597 chanukka> > of the image <6755 tselem > which <1768 diy >

Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > the king <4430 melek > had

set <6966 quwm > up.

 3 Then <0116 >edayin > the princes <0324 >achashdarpan >, the

governors <5461 cagan >, and captains <6347 pechah >, the judges

<0148 >adargazer >, the treasurers <1411 g@dabar >, the counsellors

<1884 d@thabar >, the sheriffs <8614 tiphtay >, and all <3606 kol >

the rulers <7984 shiltown > of the provinces <4082 m@diynah >, were

gathered <3673 kanash > together unto the dedication <2597 chanukka>

> of the image <6755 tselem > that Nebuchadnezzar <5020

N@buwkadnetstsar > the king <4430 melek > had set <6966 quwm > up;

and they stood <6966 quwm > before <6903 q@bel > the image <6755

tselem > that Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > had set <6966

quwm > up.

 4 Then an herald <3744 karowz > cried <7123 q@ra> > aloud <2429

chayil >, To you it is commanded <0560 >amar >, O people <5972 <am

 5 [That] at what <1768 diy > time <5732 <iddan > ye hear <8086

sh@ma< > the sound <7032 qal > of the cornet <7162 qeren >, flute

<4953 mashrowqiy >, harp <7030 qiytharoc >, sackbut <5443 cabb@ka>

>, psaltery <6460 p@canteriyn >, dulcimer <5481 cuwmpown@yah >, and

all <3606 kol > kinds <2177 zan > of musick <2170 z@mar >, ye fall

<5308 n@phal > down and worship <5457 c@gid > the golden <1722 d@hab

> image <6755 tselem > that Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar >

the king <4430 melek > hath set <6966 quwm > up:

 6 And whoso falleth <5308 n@phal > not down and worshippeth <5457

c@gid > shall the same hour <8160 sha<ah > be cast <7412 r@mah >

into the midst <1459 gav > of a burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135

nuwr > furnace <0861 >attuwn >.

 7 Therefore at that time <2166 z@man >, when <1768 diy > all <3606

kol > the people <5972 <am > heard <8086 sh@ma< > the sound <7032

qal > of the cornet <7162 qeren >, flute <4953 mashrowqiy >, harp

<7030 qiytharoc >, sackbut <5443 cabb@ka> >, psaltery <6460

p@canteriyn >, and all <3606 kol > kinds <2177 zan > of musick <2170

z@mar >, all <3606 kol > the people <5972 <am >, the nations <0524

>ummah >, and the languages <3961 lishshan >, fell <5308 n@phal >

down [and] worshipped <5457 c@gid > the golden <1722 d@hab > image

<6755 tselem > that Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > the king

<4430 melek > had set <6966 quwm > up.

 8. Wherefore at that time <2166 z@man > certain <1400 g@bar >

Chaldeans <3779 Kasday > came <7127 q@reb > near <7127 q@reb >, and

accused <7170 q@rats > the Jews <3064 Y@huwdiy >.

 9 They spake <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar > to the king <4430

melek > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar >, O king <4430 melek

>, live <2418 chaya> > for ever <5957 <alam >.

 10 Thou, O king <4430 melek >, hast made <7761 suwm > a decree

<2942 t@<em >, that every <3606 kol > man <0606 >enash > that shall

hear <8086 sh@ma< > the sound <7032 qal > of the cornet <7162 qeren

cabb@ka> >, psaltery <6460 p@canteriyn >, and dulcimer <5481

cuwmpown@yah >, and all <3606 kol > kinds <2177 zan > of musick

<2170 z@mar >, shall fall <5308 n@phal > down and worship <5457

c@gid > the golden <1722 d@hab > image <6755 tselem >:

 11 And whoso falleth <5308 n@phal > not down and worshippeth <5457

c@gid >, [that] he should be cast <7412 r@mah > into the midst <1459

gav > of a burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135 nuwr > furnace <0861

>attuwn >.

 12 There are certain <1400 g@bar > Jews <3064 Y@huwdiy > whom <3487

yath > thou hast set <4483 m@na> > over <5921 <al > the affairs

<5673 <abiydah > of the province <4083 m@diynah > of Babylon <0895

Babel >, Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and

Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >; these <0479 >illek > men <1400 g@bar

>, O king <4430 melek >, have not regarded thee: they serve <6399

p@lach > not thy gods <0426 >elahh >, nor <3809 la> > worship <5457

c@gid > the golden <1722 d@hab > image <6755 tselem > which <1768

diy > thou hast set <6966 quwm > up.

 13 Then <0116 >edayin > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > in

[his] rage <7266 r@gaz > and fury <2528 chema> > commanded <0560

>amar > to bring <0858 >athah > Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach

<4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >. Then <0116

>edayin > they brought <0858 >athah > these <0479 >illek > men <1400

g@bar > before <6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >.

 14 Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > spake <6032 <anah > and

said <0560 >amar > unto them, [Is it] true <6656 ts@da> >, O

Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego

<5665 <Abed N@gow> >, do not ye serve <6399 p@lach > my gods <0426

>elahh >, nor <3809 la> > worship <5457 c@gid > the golden <1722

d@hab > image <6755 tselem > which <1768 diy > I have set <6966 quwm

 15 Now <3705 k@<an > if <2006 hen > ye be ready <6263 <athiyd >

that at what <1768 diy > time <5732 <iddan > ye hear <8086 sh@ma< >

the sound <7032 qal > of the cornet <7162 qeren >, flute <4953

mashrowqiy >, harp <7030 qiytharoc >, sackbut <5443 cabb@ka> >,

psaltery <6460 p@canteriyn >, and dulcimer <5481 cuwmpown@yah >, and

all <3606 kol > kinds <2177 zan > of musick <2170 z@mar >, ye fall

<5308 n@phal > down and worship <5457 c@gid > the image <6755 tselem

> which <1768 diy > I have made <5648 <abad >; [well]: but if <2006

hen > ye worship <5457 c@gid > not, ye shall be cast <7412 r@mah >

the same hour <8160 sha<ah > into the midst <1459 gav > of a burning

<3345 y@qad > fiery <5135 nuwr > furnace <0861 >attuwn >; and who

<4479 man > [is] that God <0426 >elahh > that shall deliver <7804

sh@zab > you out of my hands <3028 yad >?

 16 Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego

<5665 <Abed N@gow> >, answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar >

to the king <4430 melek >, O Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar

>, we [are] not careful <2818 chashach > to answer <8421 tuwb > thee

in this <1836 den > matter <6600 pithgam >.

 17 If <2006 hen > it be [so], our God <0426 >elahh > whom <1768 diy

> we serve <6399 p@lach > is able <3202 y@kel > to deliver <7804

sh@zab > us from the burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135 nuwr >

furnace <0861 >attuwn >, and he will deliver <7804 sh@zab > [us] out

of thine hand <3028 yad >, O king <4430 melek >.

18 But if not, be it known <3046 y@da< > unto thee, O king <4430

melek >, that we will not serve <6399 p@lach > thy gods <0426 >elahh

>, nor <3809 la> > worship <5457 c@gid > the golden <1722 d@hab >

image <6755 tselem > which <1768 diy > thou hast set <6966 quwm >

up.

 19. Then <0116 >edayin > was Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar

> full <4391 m@la> > of fury <2528 chema> >, and the form <6755

tselem > of his visage <0600 >anaph > was changed <8133 sh@na> >

against <5922 <al > Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak

>, and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >: [therefore] he spake <6032

<anah >, and commanded <0560 >amar > that they should heat <0228

>aza> > the furnace <0861 >attuwn > one <2298 chad > seven <7655

shib<ah > times more <5922 <al > than <1768 diy > it was wont <2370

chaza> > to be heated <0228 >aza> >.

 20 And he commanded <0560 >amar > the most <2429 chayil > mighty

<1401 gibbar > men <1400 g@bar > that [were] in his army <2429

chayil > to bind <3729 k@phath > Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach

<4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >, [and] to cast

<7412 r@mah > [them] into the burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135 nuwr

> furnace <0861 >attuwn >.

 21 Then <0116 >edayin > these <0479 >illek > men <1400 g@bar > were

bound <3729 k@phath > in their coats <5622 carbal >, their hosen

<6361 pattiysh >, and their hats <3737 karb@la< >, and their [other]

garments <3831 l@buwsh >, and were cast <7412 r@mah > into the midst

<1459 gav > of the burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135 nuwr > furnace

<0861 >attuwn >.

 22 Therefore because the king's <4430 melek > commandment <4406

millah > was urgent <2685 chatsaph >, and the furnace <0861 >attuwn

> exceeding <2493 chelem > hot <0228 >aza> >, the flame <7631 s@biyb

> of the fire <5135 nuwr > slew <6992 q@tal > those <0479 >illek >

men <1400 g@bar > that took <5267 n@caq > up Shadrach <7715 Shadrak

>, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >.

 23 And these <0479 >illek > three <8532 t@lath > men <1400 g@bar >,

Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego

<5665 <Abed N@gow> >, fell <5308 n@phal > down bound <3729 k@phath >

into the midst <1459 gav > of the burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135

nuwr > furnace <0861 >attuwn >.

 24 Then <0116 >edayin > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > the

king <4430 melek > was astonied <8429 t@vahh >, and rose <6965 quwm

> up in haste <0927 b@hal >, [and] spake <6032 <anah >, and said

<0560 >amar > unto his counsellors <1907 haddabar >, Did not we cast

<7412 r@mah > three <8532 t@lath > men <1400 g@bar > bound <3729

k@phath > into the midst <1459 gav > of the fire <5135 nuwr >? They

answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar > unto the king <4430

melek >, True <3330 yatstsiyb >, O king <4430 melek >.

 25 He answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar >, Lo <1888 he>

>, I see <2370 chaza> > four <0703 >arba< > men <1400 g@bar > loose

<8271 sh@re> >, walking <1981 halak > in the midst <1459 gav > of

the fire <5135 nuwr >, and they have <0383 >iythay > no <3809 la> >

hurt <2257 chabal >; and the form <7299 rev > of the fourth <7244

r@biy<ay > is like <1821 d@mah > the Son <1247 bar > of God <0426

>elahh >.

 26 Then <0116 >edayin > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar >

came <7127 q@reb > near <7127 q@reb > to the mouth <8651 t@ra< > of

the burning <3345 y@qad > fiery <5135 nuwr > furnace <0861 >attuwn

>, [and] spake <6032 <anah >, and said <0560 >amar >, Shadrach <7715

Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow>

>, ye servants <5649 <abad > of the most <5943 <illay > high <5943

<illay > God <0426 >elahh >, come <5312 n@phaq > forth <5312 n@phaq

>, and come <0858 >athah > [hither]. Then <0116 >edayin > Shadrach

<7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego <5665 <Abed

N@gow> >, came <5312 n@phaq > forth <5312 n@phaq > of the midst

<1459 gav > of the fire <5135 nuwr >.

 27 And the princes <0324 >achashdarpan >, governors <5461 cagan >,

and captains <6347 pechah >, and the king's <4430 melek >

counsellors <1907 haddabar >, being gathered <3673 kanash >

together, saw <2370 chaza> > these <0479 >illek > men <1400 g@bar >,

upon whose <1768 diy > bodies <1655 geshem > the fire <5135 nuwr >

had no <3809 la> > power <7981 sh@let >, nor <3809 la> > was an hair

<8177 s@<ar > of their head <7217 re>sh > singed <2761 charak >,

neither <3809 la> > were their coats <5622 carbal > changed <8133

sh@na> >, nor <3809 la> > the smell <7382 reyach > of fire <5135

nuwr > had passed <5709 <ada> > on them.

 28. [Then] Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > spake <6032

<anah >, and said <0560 >amar >, Blessed <1289 b@rak > [be] the God

<0426 >elahh > of Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >,

and Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >, who <1768 diy > hath sent <7972

sh@lach > his angel <4398 mal>ak >, and delivered <7804 sh@zab > his

servants <5649 <abad > that trusted <7365 r@chats > in him, and have

changed <8133 sh@na> > the king's <4430 melek > word <4406 millah >,

and yielded <3052 y@hab > their bodies <1655 geshem >, that they

might not serve <6399 p@lach > nor <3809 la> > worship <5457 c@gid >

any <3606 kol > god <0426 >elahh >, except <3861 lawhen > their own

God <0426 >elahh >.

 29 Therefore I make <7761 suwm > a decree <2942 t@<em >, That every

<3606 kol > people <5972 <am >, nation <0524 >ummah >, and language

<3961 lishshan >, which <1768 diy > speak <0560 >amar > any thing

amiss <7955 shalah > against <5922 <al > the God <0426 >elahh > of

Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and Abednego

<5665 <Abed N@gow> >, shall be cut <5648 <abad > in pieces <1917

haddam >, and their houses <1005 bayith > shall be made <7739 sh@vah

> a dunghill <5122 n@valuw >: because there is no <3809 la> > other

<0321 >ochoran > God <0426 >elahh > that can <3202 y@kel > deliver

<5338 n@tsal > after <1863 dardar > this <1836 den > sort.

 30 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > promoted <6744

ts@lach > Shadrach <7715 Shadrak >, Meshach <4336 Meyshak >, and

Abednego <5665 <Abed N@gow> >, in the province <4082 m@diynah > of

Babylon <0895 Babel >.

Daniel 4

 1. Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > the king <4430 melek >,

unto all <3606 kol > people <5972 <am >, nations <0524 >ummah >, and

languages <3961 lishshan >, that dwell <1753 duwr > in all <3606 kol

> the earth <0772 >ara< >; Peace <8001 sh@lam > be multiplied <7680

s@ga> > unto you.

 2 I thought it good <8232 sh@phar > to shew <2324 chava> > the

signs <0852 >ath > and wonders <8540 t@mahh > that the high <5943

<illay > God <0426 >elahh > hath wrought <5648 <abad > toward <5974

<im > me.

 3 How <4101 mah > great <7260 rabrab > [are] his signs <0852 >ath

>! and how <4101 mah > mighty <8624 taqqiyph > [are] his wonders

<8540 t@mahh >! his kingdom <4437 malkuw > [is] an everlasting <5957

<alam > kingdom <4437 malkuw >, and his dominion <7985 sholtan >

[is] from generation <1859 dar > to generation <1859 dar >.

 4. I Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > was at rest <7954

sh@lah > in mine house <1005 bayith >, and flourishing <7487 ra<anan

> in my palace <1965 heykal >:

 5 I saw <2370 chaza> > a dream <2493 chelem > which made me afraid

<1763 d@chal >, and the thoughts <2031 harhor > upon my bed <4903

mishkab > and the visions <2376 chezev > of my head <7217 re>sh >

troubled <0927 b@hal > me.

 6 Therefore made <7761 suwm > I a decree <2942 t@<em > to bring

<5924 <ella> > in all <3606 kol > the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men] of

Babylon <0895 Babel > before <6925 qodam > me, that they might make

known <3046 y@da< > unto me the interpretation <6591 p@shar > of the

dream <2493 chelem >.

 7 Then <0116 >edayin > came <5954 <alal > in the magicians <2749

chartom >, the astrologers <0826 >ashshaph >, the Chaldeans <3779

Kasday >, and the soothsayers <1505 g@zar >: and I told <0560 >amar

> the dream <2493 chelem > before <6925 qodam > them; but they did

not make known <3046 y@da< > unto me the interpretation <6591 p@shar

> thereof.

 8 But at <5706 <ad > the last <0318 >ochoreyn > Daniel <1841

Daniye>l > came <5954 <alal > in before me, whose <1768 diy > name

<8036 shum > [was] Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar >, according

to the name <8036 shum > of my god <0426 >elahh >, and in whom <1768

diy > [is] the spirit <7308 ruwach > of the holy <6922 qaddiysh >

gods <0426 >elahh >: and before <6925 qodam > him I told <0560 >amar

> the dream <2493 chelem >, [saying],

 9 O Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar >, master <0729 >araz > of

the magicians <2749 chartom >, because <1768 diy > I know <3046

y@da< > that the spirit <7308 ruwach > of the holy <6922 qaddiysh >

gods <0426 >elahh > [is] in thee, and no secret <7328 raz >

troubleth <0598 >anac > thee, tell <0560 >amar > me the visions

<2376 chezev > of my dream <2493 chelem > that I have seen <2370

chaza> >, and the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof.

10 Thus [were] the visions <2376 chezev > of mine head <7217 re>sh

> in my bed <4903 mishkab >; I saw <2370 chaza> >, and behold <0431

>aluw > a tree <0363 >iylan > in the midst <1459 gav > of the earth

<0772 >ara< >, and the height <7314 ruwm > thereof [was] great <7690

saggiy> >.

 11 The tree <0363 >iylan > grew <7236 r@bah >, and was strong <8631

t@qeph >, and the height <7314 ruwm > thereof reached <4291 m@ta> >

unto heaven <8065 shamayin >, and the sight <2379 chazowth > thereof

to the end <5491 cowph > of all <3606 kol > the earth <0772 >ara< >:

 12 The leaves <6074 <ophiy > thereof [were] fair <8509 takriyk >,

and the fruit <4> thereof much <7690 saggiy> >, and in it [was] meat

<4203 mazown > for all <3606 kol >: the beasts <2423 cheyva> > of

the field <1251 bar > had shadow <2927 t@lal > under <8460 t@chowth

> it, and the fowls <6853 ts@phar > of the heaven <8065 shamayin >

dwelt <1753 duwr > in the boughs <6056 <anaph > thereof, and all

<3606 kol > flesh <1321 b@sar > was fed <2110 zuwn > of it.

 13 I saw <2370 chaza> > in the visions <2376 chezev > of my head

<7217 re>sh > upon my bed <4903 mishkab >, and, behold <0431 >aluw

>, a watcher <5894 <iyr > and an holy <6922 qaddiysh > one came

<5182 n@chath > down <5182 n@chath > from heaven <8065 shamayin >;

 14 He cried <7123 q@ra> > aloud <2429 chayil >, and said <0560

>amar > thus <3652 ken >, Hew <1414 g@dad > down the tree <0363

>iylan >, and cut <7113 q@tsats > off his branches <6056 <anaph >,

shake <5426 n@ther > off <0575 >an > his leaves <6074 <ophiy >, and

scatter <0921 b@dar > his fruit <4>: let the beasts <2423 cheyva> >

get <5111 nuwd > away <5111 nuwd > from under <8478 tachath > it,

and the fowls <6853 ts@phar > from his branches <6056 <anaph >:

 15 Nevertheless <1297 b@ram > leave <7662 sh@baq > the stump <6136

<iqqar > of his roots <8330 shoresh > in the earth <0772 >ara< >,

even with a band <0613 >ecuwr > of iron <6523 parzel > and brass

<5174 n@chash >, in the tender grass <1883 dethe> > of the field

<1251 bar >; and let it be wet <6647 ts@ba< > with the dew <2920 tal

> of heaven <8065 shamayin >, and [let] his portion <2508 chalaq >

[be] with the beasts <2423 cheyva> > in the grass <6211 <ash > of

the earth <0772 >ara< >:

 16 Let his heart <3825 l@bab > be changed <8133 sh@na> > from man's

<0606 >enash >, and let a beast's <2423 cheyva> > heart <3825 l@bab

> be given <3052 y@hab > unto him; and let seven <7655 shib<ah >

times <5732 <iddan > pass <2499 chalaph > over <5922 <al > him.

 17 This matter <6600 pithgam > [is] by the decree <1510 g@zerah >

of the watchers <5894 <iyr >, and the demand <7595 sh@>ela> > by the

word <3983 me>mar > of the holy <6922 qaddiysh > ones: to the intent

<1701 dibrah > that the living <2417 chay > may know <3046 y@da< >

that the most <5943 <illay > High <5943 <illay > ruleth <7980 shalat

> in the kingdom <4437 malkuw > of men <0606 >enash >, and giveth

<5415 n@than > it to whomsoever <4479 man > he will <6634 ts@ba> >,

and setteth <6966 quwm > up over <5922 <al > it the basest <8215

sh@phal > of men <0606 >enash >.

 18 This <1836 den > dream <2493 chelem > I king <4430 melek >

Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > have seen <2370 chaza> >.

Now thou, O Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar >, declare <0560

>amar > the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof, forasmuch as all

<3606 kol > the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men] of my kingdom <4437

malkuw > are not able <3202 y@kel > to make known <3046 y@da< > unto

me the interpretation <6591 p@shar >: but thou [art] able <3546

k@hal >; for the spirit <7308 ruwach > of the holy <6922 qaddiysh >

gods <0426 >elahh > [is] in thee.

 19. Then <0116 >edayin > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, whose <1768 diy >

name <8036 shum > [was] Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar >, was

astonied <8075 sh@mam > for one <2298 chad > hour <8160 sha<ah >,

and his thoughts <7476 ra<yown > troubled <0927 b@hal > him. The

king <4430 melek > spake <6032 <anah >, and said <0560 >amar >,

Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar >, let not the dream <2493 chelem

>, or the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof, trouble <0927 b@hal

> thee. Belteshazzar <1096 Belt@sha>tstsar > answered <6032 <anah >

and said <0560 >amar >, My lord <4756 mare> >, the dream <2493

chelem > [be] to them that hate <8131 s@ne> > thee, and the

interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof to thine enemies <6146 <ar >.

 20 The tree <0363 >iylan > that thou sawest <2370 chaza> >, which

<1768 diy > grew <7236 r@bah >, and was strong <8631 t@qeph >, whose

height <7314 ruwm > reached <4291 m@ta> > unto the heaven <8065

shamayin >, and the sight <2379 chazowth > thereof to all <3606 kol

> the earth <0772 >ara< >;

 21 Whose leaves <6074 <ophiy > [were] fair <8509 takriyk >, and the

fruit <4> thereof much <7690 saggiy> >, and in it [was] meat <4203

mazown > for all <3606 kol >; under <8460 t@chowth > which the

beasts <2423 cheyva> > of the field <1251 bar > dwelt <1753 duwr >,

and upon whose branches <6056 <anaph > the fowls <6853 ts@phar > of

the heaven <8065 shamayin > had their habitation <7932 sh@kan >:

 22 It [is] thou, O king <4430 melek >, that art grown <7236 r@bah >

and become <8631 t@qeph > strong <8631 t@qeph >: for thy greatness

<7238 r@buw > is grown <7236 r@bah >, and reacheth <4291 m@ta> >

unto heaven <8065 shamayin >, and thy dominion <7985 sholtan > to

the end <5491 cowph > of the earth <0772 >ara< >.

 23 And whereas <1768 diy > the king <4430 melek > saw <2370 chaza>

> a watcher <5894 <iyr > and an holy <6922 qaddiysh > one coming

<5182 n@chath > down <5182 n@chath > from heaven <8065 shamayin >,

and saying <0560 >amar >, Hew <1414 g@dad > the tree <0363 >iylan >

down, and destroy <2255 chabal > it; yet <1297 b@ram > leave <7662

sh@baq > the stump <6136 <iqqar > of the roots <8330 shoresh >

thereof in the earth <0772 >ara< >, even with a band <0613 >ecuwr >

of iron <6523 parzel > and brass <5174 n@chash >, in the tender

grass <1883 dethe> > of the field <1251 bar >; and let it be wet

<6647 ts@ba< > with the dew <2920 tal > of heaven <8065 shamayin >,

and [let] his portion <2508 chalaq > [be] with the beasts <2423

cheyva> > of the field <1251 bar >, till <5704 <ad > seven <7655

shib<ah > times <5732 <iddan > pass <2499 chalaph > over <5922 <al >

him;

 24 This <1836 den > [is] the interpretation <6591 p@shar >, O king

<4430 melek >, and this <1931 huw> > [is] the decree <1510 g@zerah >

of the most <5943 <illay > High <5943 <illay >, which <1768 diy > is

come <4291 m@ta> > upon my lord <4756 mare> > the king <4430 melek

>:

 25 That they shall drive <2957 t@rad > thee from men <0606 >enash

>, and thy dwelling <4070 m@dowr > shall be with the beasts <2423

cheyva> > of the field <1251 bar >, and they shall make thee to eat

<2939 t@<am > grass <6211 <ash > as oxen <8450 towr >, and they

shall wet <6647 ts@ba< > thee with the dew <2920 tal > of heaven

<8065 shamayin >, and seven <7655 shib<ah > times <5732 <iddan >

shall pass <2499 chalaph > over <5922 <al > thee, till <5704 <ad >

thou know <3046 y@da< > that the most <5943 <illay > High ruleth

<7980 shalat > in the kingdom <4437 malkuw > of men <0606 >enash >,

and giveth <5415 n@than > it to whomsoever <4479 man > he will <6634

ts@ba> >.

 26 And whereas <1768 diy > they commanded <0560 >amar > to leave

<7662 sh@baq > the stump <6136 <iqqar > of the tree <0363 >iylan >

roots <8330 shoresh >; thy kingdom <4437 malkuw > shall be sure

<7011 qayam > unto thee, after <1767 day > that thou shalt have

known <3046 y@da< > that the heavens <8065 shamayin > do rule <7990

shalliyt >.

 27 Wherefore <3861 lawhen >, O king <4430 melek >, let my counsel

<4431 m@lak > be acceptable <8232 sh@phar > unto thee, and break

<6562 p@raq > off thy sins <2408 chatiy > by righteousness <6665

tsidqah >, and thine iniquities <5758 <ivya> > by shewing mercy

<2604 chanan > to the poor <6033 <anah >; if <2006 hen > it may be a

lengthening <0754 >arka> > of thy tranquillity <7963 sh@levah >.

 28. All <3606 kol > this came <4291 m@ta> > upon the king <4430

melek > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar >.

 29 At the end <7118 q@tsath > of twelve months <3393 y@rach > he

walked <1981 halak > in the palace <1965 heykal > of the kingdom

<4437 malkuw > of Babylon <0895 Babel >.

 30 The king <4430 melek > spake <6032 <anah >, and said <0560 >amar

>, Is not this <1668 da> > great <7227 rab > Babylon <0895 Babel >,

that I have built <1124 b@na> > for the house <1005 bayith > of the

kingdom <4437 malkuw > by the might <8632 t@qoph > of my power <2632

checen >, and for the honour <3367 y@qar > of my majesty <1923 hadar

 31 While <5751 <owd > the word <4406 millah > [was] in the king's

<4430 melek > mouth <6433 pum >, there fell <5308 n@phal > a voice

<7032 qal > from heaven <8065 shamayin >, [saying], O king <4430

melek > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar >, to thee it is

spoken <0560 >amar >; The kingdom <4437 malkuw > is departed <5709

<ada> > from thee.

 32 And they shall drive <2957 t@rad > thee from men <0606 >enash >,

and thy dwelling <4070 m@dowr > [shall be] with the beasts <2423

cheyva> > of the field <1251 bar >: they shall make thee to eat

<2939 t@<am > grass <6211 <ash > as oxen <8450 towr >, and seven

<7655 shib<ah > times <5732 <iddan > shall pass <2499 chalaph > over

<5922 <al > thee, until <5704 <ad > thou know <3046 y@da< > that the

most <5943 <illay > High <5943 <illay > ruleth <7980 shalat > in the

kingdom <4437 malkuw > of men <0606 >enash >, and giveth <5415

n@than > it to whomsoever <4479 man > he will <6634 ts@ba> >.

 33 The same hour <8160 sha<ah > was the thing <4406 millah >

fulfilled <5487 cuwph > upon Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar

>: and he was driven <2957 t@rad > from men <0606 >enash >, and did

eat <0399 >akal > grass <6211 <ash > as oxen <8450 towr >, and his

body <1655 geshem > was wet <6647 ts@ba< > with the dew <2920 tal >

of heaven <8065 shamayin >, till <5704 <ad > his hairs <8177 s@<ar >

were grown <7236 r@bah > like eagles <5403 n@shar >' [feathers], and

his nails <2953 t@phar > like birds <6853 ts@phar >' [claws].

 34. And at the end <7118 q@tsath > of the days <3118 yowm > I

Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > lifted <5191 n@tal > up mine

eyes <5870 <ayin > unto heaven <8065 shamayin >, and mine

understanding <4486 manda< > returned <7725 shuwb > unto me, and I

blessed <1289 b@rak > the most <5943 <illay > High <5943 <illay >,

and I praised <7624 sh@bach > and honoured <1922 hadar > him that

liveth <2416 chay > for ever <5957 <alam >, whose <1768 diy >

dominion <7985 sholtan > [is] an everlasting <5957 <alam > dominion

<7985 sholtan >, and his kingdom <4437 malkuw > [is] from generation

<1859 dar > to generation <1859 dar >:

35 And all <3606 kol > the inhabitants <1753 duwr > of the earth

<0772 >ara< > [are] reputed <2804 chashab > as nothing <3809 la> >:

and he doeth <5648 <abad > according to his will <6634 ts@ba> > in

the army <2429 chayil > of heaven <8065 shamayin >, and [among] the

 36 At the same time <2166 z@man > my reason <4486 manda< > returned

<7725 shuwb > unto me; and for the glory <3367 y@qar > of my kingdom

<4437 malkuw >, mine honour <1923 hadar > and brightness <2122 ziyv

was established <8627 t@qan > in my kingdom <4437 malkuw >, and

excellent <3493 yattiyr > majesty <7238 r@buw > was added <3255

y@caph > unto me.

 37 Now <3705 k@<an > I Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar >

praise <7624 sh@bach > and extol <7313 ruwm > and honour <1922 hadar

whose works <4567 ma<bad > [are] truth <7187 q@showt >, and his ways

<0735 >orach > judgment <1780 diyn >: and those <1768 diy > that

walk <1980 halak > in pride <1466 gevah > he is able <3202 y@kel >

to abase <8214 sh@phal >.

Daniel 5

 1. Belshazzar <1113 Belsha>tstsar > the king <4430 melek > made

<5648 <abad > a great <7227 rab > feast <3900 l@chem > to a thousand

<0506 >alaph > of his lords <7261 rabr@ban >, and drank <8355

sh@thah > wine <2562 chamar > before <6903 q@bel > the thousand

<0506 >alaph >.

 2 Belshazzar <1113 Belsha>tstsar >, whiles he tasted <2942 t@<em >

the wine <2562 chamar >, commanded <0560 >amar > to bring <0858

>athah > the golden <1722 d@hab > and silver <3702 k@caph > vessels

<3984 ma>n > which <1768 diy > his father <2> Nebuchadnezzar <5020

N@buwkadnetstsar > had taken <5312 n@phaq > out of the temple <1965

heykal > which <1768 diy > [was] in Jerusalem <3390 Y@ruwshalem

(Chald) >; that the king <4430 melek >, and his princes <7261

rabr@ban >, his wives <7695 shegal >, and his concubines <3904

l@chenah >, might drink <8355 sh@thah > therein.

 3 Then <0116 >edayin > they brought <0858 >athah > the golden <1722

d@hab > vessels <3984 ma>n > that were taken <5312 n@phaq > out of

the temple <1965 heykal > of the house <1005 bayith > of God <0426

>elahh > which <1768 diy > [was] at Jerusalem <3390 Y@ruwshalem

(Chald) >; and the king <4430 melek >, and his princes <7261

rabr@ban >, his wives <7695 shegal >, and his concubines <3904

l@chenah >, drank <8355 sh@thah > in them.

 4 They drank <8355 sh@thah > wine <2562 chamar >, and praised <7624

sh@bach > the gods <0426 >elahh > of gold <1722 d@hab >, and of

silver <3702 k@caph >, of brass <5174 n@chash >, of iron <6523

parzel >, of wood <0636 >a< >, and of stone <69>.

 5 In the same hour <8160 sha<ah > came <5312 n@phaq > forth <5312

n@phaq > fingers <0677 >etsba< > of a man's <0606 >enash > hand

<3028 yad >, and wrote <3790 k@thab > over <6903 q@bel > against

<6903 q@bel > the candlestick <5043 nebr@sha> > upon the plaister

<1528 giyr > of the wall <3797 k@thal > of the king's <4430 melek >

palace <1965 heykal >: and the king <4430 melek > saw <2370 chaza> >

the part <6447 pac > of the hand <3028 yad > that wrote <3790 k@thab

>.

 6 Then <0116 >edayin > the king's <4430 melek > countenance <2122

ziyv > was changed <8133 sh@na> >, and his thoughts <7476 ra<yown >

troubled <0927 b@hal > him, so that the joints <7001 q@tar > of his

loins <2788 charer > were loosed <8271 sh@re> >, and his knees <0755

>arkubah > smote <5368 n@qash > one <1668 da> > against another

<1668 da> >.

 7 The king <4430 melek > cried <7123 q@ra> > aloud <2429 chayil >

to bring <5924 <ella> > in the astrologers <0826 >ashshaph >, the

Chaldeans <3779 Kasday >, and the soothsayers <1505 g@zar >. [And]

the king <4430 melek > spake <6032 <anah >, and said <0560 >amar >

to the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men] of Babylon <0895 Babel >,

Whosoever <3605 kol > shall read <7123 q@ra> > this <1836 den >

writing <3792 k@thab >, and shew <2324 chava> > me the

interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof, shall be clothed <3848 l@bash

of gold <1722 d@hab > about <5922 <al > his neck <6676 tsavva>r >,

and shall be the third <8523 t@liythay > ruler <7981 sh@let > in the

kingdom <4437 malkuw >.

 8 Then <0116 >edayin > came <5954 <alal > in all <3606 kol > the

king's <4430 melek > wise <2445 chakkiym > [men]: but they could

<3546 k@hal > not read <7123 q@ra> > the writing <3792 k@thab >, nor

make known <3046 y@da< > to the king <4430 melek > the

interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof.

 9 Then <0116 >edayin > was king <4430 melek > Belshazzar <1113

Belsha>tstsar > greatly <7690 saggiy> > troubled <0927 b@hal >, and

his countenance <2122 ziyv > was changed <8133 sh@na> > in him, and

his lords <7261 rabr@ban > were astonied <2672 chatsab >.

 10. [Now] the queen <4433 malka> >, by reason <6903 q@bel > of the

words <4406 millah > of the king <4430 melek > and his lords <7261

rabr@ban >, came <5954 <alal > into the banquet <4961 mishteh >

house <1005 bayith >: [and] the queen <4433 malka> > spake <6032

<anah > and said <0560 >amar >, O king <4430 melek >, live <2414

chataph > for ever <5957 <alam >: let not thy thoughts <7476 ra<yown

> trouble <0927 b@hal > thee, nor <0408 >al > let thy countenance

<2122 ziyv > be changed <8133 sh@na> >:

 11 There is a man <1400 g@bar > in thy kingdom <4437 malkuw >, in

whom <1768 diy > [is] the spirit <7308 ruwach > of the holy <6922

qaddiysh > gods <0426 >elahh >; and in the days <3118 yowm > of thy

father <2> light <5094 n@hiyr > and understanding <7924 sokl@thanuw

> and wisdom <2452 chokmah >, like the wisdom <2452 chokmah > of the

gods <0426 >elahh >, was found <7912 sh@kach > in him; whom the king

<4430 melek > Nebuchadnezzar <5020 N@buwkadnetstsar > thy father

<2>, the king <4430 melek >, [I say], thy father <2>, made master

<0729 >araz > of the magicians <2749 chartom >, astrologers <0826

>ashshaph >, Chaldeans <3779 Kasday >, [and] soothsayers <1505 g@zar

>;

 12 Forasmuch as an excellent <3493 yattiyr > spirit <7308 ruwach >,

and knowledge <0998 biynah >, and understanding <7924 sokl@thanuw >,

interpreting <6591 p@shar > of dreams <2493 chelem >, and shewing

<0263 >achavah > of hard <0280 >achiydah > sentences <0280 >achiydah

>, and dissolving <8271 sh@re> > of doubts <7001 q@tar >, were found

<7912 sh@kach > in the same Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, whom <1768 diy

> the king <4430 melek > named <8036 shum > Belteshazzar <1096

Belt@sha>tstsar >: now <3705 k@<an > let Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > be

called <7123 q@ra> >, and he will shew <5046 nagad > the

interpretation <6591 p@shar >.

 13 Then <0116 >edayin > was Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > brought <5954

<alal > in before <6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >. [And] the

king <4430 melek > spake <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar > unto

Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, [Art] thou that Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >,

which <1768 diy > [art] of the children <1123 ben > of the captivity

<1547 galuwth > of Judah <3061 Y@huwd >, whom <1768 diy > the king

<4430 melek > my father <2> brought <0858 >athah > out of Jewry

<3061 Y@huwd >?

 14 I have even heard <8086 sh@ma< > of thee, that the spirit <7308

ruwach > of the gods <0426 >elahh > [is] in thee, and [that] light

<5094 n@hiyr > and understanding <7924 sokl@thanuw > and excellent

<3493 yattiyr > wisdom <2452 chokmah > is found <7912 sh@kach > in

thee.

 15 And now <3705 k@<an > the wise <2445 chakkiym > [men], the

astrologers <0826 >ashshaph >, have been brought <5954 <alal > in

before <6925 qodam > me, that they should read <7123 q@ra> > this

<1836 den > writing <3792 k@thab >, and make known <3046 y@da< >

unto me the interpretation <6591 p@shar > thereof: but they could

<5346 Neqeb > not shew <2324 chava> > the interpretation <6591

p@shar > of the thing <4406 millah >:

 16 And I have heard <8086 sh@ma< > of thee, that thou canst <3202

y@kel > make interpretations <6591 p@shar >, and dissolve <8271

sh@re> > doubts <7001 q@tar >: now <3705 k@<an > if <2006 hen > thou

canst <3202 y@kel > read <7123 q@ra> > the writing <3792 k@thab >,

and make known <3046 y@da< > to me the interpretation <6591 p@shar >

thereof, thou shalt be clothed <3848 l@bash > with scarlet <0711

>arg@van >, and [have] a chain <2002 hamniyk > of gold <1722 d@hab >

about <5922 <al > thy neck <6676 tsavva>r >, and shalt be the third

<8531 t@lath > ruler <7981 sh@let > in the kingdom <4437 malkuw >.

 17 Then <0116 >edayin > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > answered <6032

<anah > and said <0560 >amar > before <6925 qodam > the king <4430

melek >, Let thy gifts <4978 matt@na> > be to thyself, and give

<3052 y@hab > thy rewards <5023 n@bizbah > to another <0321 >ochoran

k@thab > unto the king <4430 melek >, and make known <3046 y@da< >

to him the interpretation <6591 p@shar >.

 18 O thou king <4430 melek >, the most <5943 <illay > high <5943

<illay > God <0426 >elahh > gave <3052 y@hab > Nebuchadnezzar <5020

N@buwkadnetstsar > thy father <2> a kingdom <4437 malkuw >, and

majesty <7238 r@buw >, and glory <3367 y@qar >, and honour <1923

hadar >:

 19 And for the majesty <7238 r@buw > that he gave <3052 y@hab >

him, all <3606 kol > people <5972 <am >, nations <0524 >ummah >, and

languages <3961 lishshan >, trembled <2112 zuwa< > and feared <1763

d@chal > before him: whom <1768 diy > he would <6634 ts@ba> > he

slew <6992 q@tal >; and whom <1768 diy > he would <6634 ts@ba> > he

kept alive <2418 chaya> >; and whom <1768 diy > he would <6634

ts@ba> > he set <7313 ruwm > up; and whom he would <6634 ts@ba> > he

put <8214 sh@phal > down <8214 sh@phal >.

 20 But when <1768 diy > his heart <3825 l@bab > was lifted <7313

ruwm > up, and his mind <7307 ruwach > hardened <8631 t@qeph > in

pride <2103 zuwd >, he was deposed <5182 n@chath > from his kingly

<4437 malkuw > throne <3764 korce> >, and they took <5709 <ada> >

his glory <3367 y@qar > from him:

21 And he was driven <2957 t@rad > from the sons <1123 ben > of men

<0606 >enash >; and his heart <3825 l@bab > was made <7737 shavah >

like <5974 <im > the beasts <2423 cheyva> >, and his dwelling <4070

m@dowr > [was] with the wild <6167 <arad > asses <6167 <arad >: they

fed <2939 t@<am > him with grass <6211 <ash > like oxen <8450 towr

<2920 tal > of heaven <8065 shamayin >; till <5704 <ad > he knew

<3046 y@da< > that the most <5943 <illay > high <5943 <illay > God

<0426 >elahh > ruled <7990 shalliyt > in the kingdom <4437 malkuw >

of men <0606 >enash >, and [that] he appointeth <6966 quwm > over

<5922 <al > it whomsoever he will <6634 ts@ba> >.

 22 And thou his son <1247 bar >, O Belshazzar <1113 Belsha>tstsar

>, hast not humbled <8214 sh@phal > thine heart <3825 l@bab >,

though thou knewest <3046 y@da< > all <3606 kol > this <1836 den >;

 23 But hast lifted <7313 ruwm > up thyself against <5922 <al > the

Lord <4756 mare> > of heaven <8065 shamayin >; and they have brought

<0858 >athah > the vessels <3984 ma>n > of his house <1005 bayith >

before <6925 qodam > thee, and thou, and thy lords <7261 rabr@ban >,

thy wives <7695 shegal >, and thy concubines <3904 l@chenah >, have

drunk <8355 sh@thah > wine <2562 chamar > in them; and thou hast

praised <7624 sh@bach > the gods <0426 >elahh > of silver <3702

k@caph >, and gold <1722 d@hab >, of brass <5174 n@chash >, iron

<6523 parzel >, wood <0636 >a< >, and stone <69>, which <1768 diy >

see <2370 chaza> > not, nor <3809 la> > hear <8086 sh@ma< >, nor

<3809 la> > know <3046 y@da< >: and the God <0426 >elahh > in whose

<1768 diy > hand <3028 yad > thy breath <5396 nishma> > [is], and

whose [are] all <3606 kol > thy ways <0735 >orach >, hast thou not

glorified <1922 hadar >:

 24 Then <0116 >edayin > was the part <6447 pac > of the hand <3028

yad > sent <7972 sh@lach > from him; and this <1836 den > writing

<3792 k@thab > was written <7560 r@sham >.

 25 And this <1836 den > [is] the writing <3792 k@thab > that was

written <7560 r@sham >, MENE <4484 mene> >, MENE <4484 mene> >,

TEKEL <8625 t@qal >, UPHARSIN <6537 p@rac >.

 26 This <1836 den > [is] the interpretation <6591 p@shar > of the

thing <4406 millah >: MENE <4484 mene> >; God <0426 >elahh > hath

numbered <4483 m@na> > thy kingdom <4437 malkuw >, and finished

<8000 sh@lam > it.

 27 TEKEL <8625 t@qal >; Thou art weighed <8625 t@qal > in the

balances <3976 mo>zen >, and art found <7912 sh@kach > wanting <2627

chacciyr >.

 28 PERES <6537 p@rac >; Thy kingdom <4437 malkuw > is divided <6537

p@rac >, and given <3052 y@hab > to the Medes <4076 Maday > and

Persians <6540 Parac >.

 29 Then <0116 >edayin > commanded <0560 >amar > Belshazzar <1113

Belsha>tstsar >, and they clothed <3848 l@bash > Daniel <1841

Daniye>l > with scarlet <0711 >arg@van >, and [put] a chain <2002

hamniyk > of gold <1722 d@hab > about <5922 <al > his neck <6676

tsavva>r >, and made a proclamation <3745 k@raz > concerning <5922

<al > him, that he should be the third <8531 t@lath > ruler <7990

shalliyt > in the kingdom <4437 malkuw >.

 30. In that night <3916 leyl@ya> > was Belshazzar <1113

Belsha>tstsar > the king <4430 melek > of the Chaldeans <3779 Kasday

> slain <6992 q@tal >.

 31 And Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh > the Median <4077 Maday > took

<6902 q@bal > the kingdom <4437 malkuw >, [being] about threescore

<8361 shittiyn > and two <8648 t@reyn > years <8140 sh@nah > old

<1247 bar >.

Daniel 6

 1. It pleased <8232 sh@phar > Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh > to set

<3966 m@<od > over <5922 <al > the kingdom <4437 malkuw > an hundred

<3969 ma>ah > and twenty <6243 <esriyn > princes <0324 >achashdarpan

>, which <1768 diy > should be over the whole <3606 kol > kingdom

<4437 malkuw >;

 2 And over <5924 <ella> > these <4481 min > three <8532 t@lath >

presidents <5632 carek >; of whom Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > [was]

first <2298 chad >: that the princes <0324 >achashdarpan > might

give <3052 y@hab > accounts <2941 ta<am > unto them, and the king

<4430 melek > should have <1934 hava> > no <3809 la> > damage <5142

n@zaq >.

 3 Then <0116 >edayin > this <1836 den > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > was

preferred <5330 n@tsach > above <5922 <al > the presidents <5632

carek > and princes <0324 >achashdarpan >, because an excellent

<3493 yattiyr > spirit <7308 ruwach > [was] in him; and the king

<4430 melek > thought <6246 <ashith > to set <3966 m@<od > him over

<5922 <al > the whole <3606 kol > realm <4437 malkuw >.

 4 Then <0116 >edayin > the presidents <5632 carek > and princes

<0324 >achashdarpan > sought <1158 ba<ah > to find <7912 sh@kach >

occasion <5931 <illah > against Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > concerning

<6655 tsad > the kingdom <4437 malkuw >; but they could <3202 y@kel

> find <7912 sh@kach > none <3809 la> > occasion <5931 <illah > nor

<3809 la> > fault <7844 sh@chath >; forasmuch as he [was] faithful

<0540 >aman >, neither <3809 la> > was there any <3606 kol > error

<7960 shaluw > or fault <7844 sh@chath > found <7912 sh@kach > in

him.

 5 Then <0116 >edayin > said <0560 >amar > these <0479 >illek > men

<1400 g@bar >, We shall not find <7912 sh@kach > any <3606 kol >

occasion <5931 <illah > against <5922 <al > this <1836 den > Daniel

<1841 Daniye>l >, except <3861 lawhen > we find <7912 sh@kach > [it]

against him concerning the law <1882 dath > of his God <0426 >elahh

>.

 6. Then <0116 >edayin > these <0459 >illeyn > presidents <5632

carek > and princes <0324 >achashdarpan > assembled <7284 r@gash >

together to the king <4430 melek >, and said <0560 >amar > thus

<3652 ken > unto him, King <4430 melek > Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh >,

live <2414 chataph > for ever <5757 <Avviy >.

 7 All <3606 kol > the presidents <5632 carek > of the kingdom <4437

malkuw >, the governors <5461 cagan >, and the princes <0324

>achashdarpan >, the counsellors <1907 haddabar >, and the captains

<6347 pechah >, have consulted <3272 y@<at > together to establish

<6966 quwm > a royal <4430 melek > statute <7010 q@yam >, and to

make a firm <8631 t@qeph > decree <0633 >ecar >, that whosoever

<3605 kol > shall ask <1156 b@<a> > a petition <1159 ba<uw > of any

<3606 kol > God <0426 >elahh > or man <0606 >enash > for thirty

<8533 t@lathiyn > days <3118 yowm >, save <3861 lawhen > of thee, O

king <4430 melek >, he shall be cast <7412 r@mah > into the den

<1358 gob > of lions <0744 >aryeh >.

 8 Now <3705 k@<an >, O king <4430 melek >, establish <6966 quwm >

the decree <0633 >ecar >, and sign <7560 r@sham > the writing <3792

k@thab >, that it be not changed <8133 sh@na> >, according to the

law <1882 dath > of the Medes <4076 Maday > and Persians <6540 Parac

>, which <1768 diy > altereth <5709 <ada> > not.

 9 Wherefore king <4430 melek > Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh > signed

<7560 r@sham > the writing <3792 k@thab > and the decree <0633 >ecar

>.

 10 Now <1768 diy > when <1768 diy > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > knew

<3046 y@da< > that the writing <3792 k@thab > was signed <7560

r@sham >, he went <5954 <alal > into his house <1005 bayith >; and

his windows <3551 kav > being open <6606 p@thach > in his chamber

<5952 <alliyth > toward <5049 neged > Jerusalem <3390 Y@ruwshalem

(Chald) >, he kneeled <1289 b@rak > upon his knees <1291 berek >

three <8532 t@lath > times <2166 z@man > a day <3118 yowm >, and

prayed <6739 ts@la> >, and gave thanks <3029 y@da> > before <6925

qodam > his God <0426 >elahh >, as he did <5648 <abad > aforetime.

 11. Then <0116 >edayin > these <0479 >illek > men <1400 g@bar >

assembled <7284 r@gash >, and found <7912 sh@kach > Daniel <1841

Daniye>l > praying <1156 b@<a> > and making supplication <2604

chanan > before <6925 qodam > his God <0426 >elahh >.

 12 Then <0116 >edayin > they came <7127 q@reb > near <7127 q@reb >,

and spake <0560 >amar > before <6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >

concerning <5922 <al > the king's <4430 melek > decree <0633 >ecar

every <3606 kol > man <0606 >enash > that shall ask <1156 b@<a> > [a

petition] of any <3606 kol > God <0426 >elahh > or man <0606 >enash

save <3861 lawhen > of thee, O king <4430 melek >, shall be cast

<7412 r@mah > into the den <1358 gob > of lions <0744 >aryeh >? The

king <4430 melek > answered <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar >,

The thing <4406 millah > [is] true <3330 yatstsiyb >, according to

the law <1882 dath > of the Medes <4076 Maday > and Persians <6540

Parac >, which <1768 diy > altereth <5709 <ada> > not.

 13 Then <0116 >edayin > answered <6032 <anah > they and said <0560

>amar > before <6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >, That Daniel

<1841 Daniye>l >, which <1768 diy > [is] of the children <1123 ben >

of the captivity <1547 galuwth > of Judah <3061 Y@huwd >, regardeth

not thee, O king <4430 melek >, nor the decree <0633 >ecar > that

thou hast signed <7560 r@sham >, but maketh his petition <1159 ba<uw

> three <8532 t@lath > times <2166 z@man > a day <3118 yowm >.

 14 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek >, when <1768 diy > he

heard <8086 sh@ma< > [these] words <4406 millah >, was sore <7690

saggiy> > displeased <0888 b@>esh > with himself, and set <7761 suwm

deliver <7804 sh@zab > him: and he laboured <7712 sh@dar > till

<5704 <ad > the going <4606 me<al > down <4606 me<al > of the sun

<8122 shemesh > to deliver <5338 n@tsal > him.

 15 Then <0116 >edayin > these <0479 >illek > men <1400 g@bar >

assembled <7284 r@gash > unto the king <4430 melek >, and said <0560

>amar > unto the king <4430 melek >, Know <3046 y@da< >, O king

<4430 melek >, that the law <1882 dath > of the Medes <4076 Maday >

and Persians <6540 Parac > [is], That no decree <0633 >ecar > nor

statute <7010 q@yam > which <1768 diy > the king <4430 melek >

establisheth <6966 quwm > may be changed <8133 sh@na> >.

 16 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > commanded <0560

>amar >, and they brought <0858 >athah > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >,

and cast <7412 r@mah > [him] into the den <1358 gob > of lions <0744

>aryeh >. [Now <0116 >edayin >] the king <4430 melek > spake <6032

<anah > and said <0560 >amar > unto Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, Thy God

<0426 >elahh > whom <1768 diy > thou servest <6399 p@lach >

continually <8411 t@diyra> >, he will deliver <7804 sh@zab > thee.

 17 And a stone <69> was brought <0858 >athah >, and laid <7760 suwm

> upon the mouth <6433 pum > of the den <1358 gob >; and the king

<4430 melek > sealed <2857 chatham > it with his own signet <5824

<izqa> >, and with the signet <5824 <izqa> > of his lords <7261

rabr@ban >; that the purpose <6640 ts@buw > might not be changed

<8133 sh@na> > concerning Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >.

 18. Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > went <0236 >azal >

to his palace <1965 heykal >, and passed the night <0956 buwth >

fasting <2908 t@vath >: neither <3809 la> > were instruments <1761

dachavah > of musick brought <5954 <alal > before <6925 qodam > him:

and his sleep <8139 sh@nah > went <5075 n@dad > from him.

 19 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > arose <6966 quwm >

very early <8238 sh@pharphar > in the morning <5053 nogahh >, and

went <0236 >azal > in haste <0927 b@hal > unto the den <1358 gob >

of lions <0744 >aryeh >.

20 And when he came <7127 q@reb > to the den <1358 gob >, he cried

<2200 z@<iq > with a lamentable <6088 <atsab > voice <7032 qal >

unto Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >: [and] the king <4430 melek > spake

<6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar > to Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, O

Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, servant <5649 <abad > of the living <2417

chay > God <0426 >elahh >, is thy God <0426 >elahh >, whom <1768 diy

<3202 y@kel > to deliver <7804 sh@zab > thee from the lions <0744

>aryeh >?

 21 Then <0116 >edayin > said <4449 m@lal > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >

unto the king <4430 melek >, O king <4430 melek >, live <2414

chataph > for ever <5957 <alam >.

 22 My God <0426 >elahh > hath sent <7972 sh@lach > his angel <4398

mal>ak >, and hath shut <5463 c@gar > the lions <0744 >aryeh >'

mouths <6433 pum >, that they have not hurt <2255 chabal > me:

forasmuch as before <6925 qodam > him innocency <2136 zakuw > was

found <7912 sh@kach > in me; and also <0638 >aph > before <6925

qodam > thee, O king <4430 melek >, have I done <5648 <abad > no

<3809 la> > hurt <2248 chabuwlah >.

 23 Then <0116 >edayin > was the king <4430 melek > exceeding <7689

saggiy> > glad <2868 t@>eb > for him, and commanded <0560 >amar >

that they should take <5267 n@caq > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > up out

of the den <1358 gob >. So Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > was taken <5267

n@caq > up out of the den <1358 gob >, and no manner of hurt <2257

chabal > was found <7912 sh@kach > upon him, because <1768 diy > he

believed <0540 >aman > in his God <0426 >elahh >.

 24 And the king <4430 melek > commanded <0560 >amar >, and they

brought <0858 >athah > those <0479 >illek > men <1400 g@bar > which

<1768 diy > had accused <7170 q@rats > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, and

they cast <7412 r@mah > [them] into the den <1358 gob > of lions

<0744 >aryeh >, them, their children <1123 ben >, and their wives

<5389 nashiyn >; and the lions <0744 >aryeh > had the mastery <6981

Qowre> > of them, and brake <1855 d@qaq > all <3606 kol > their

bones <1635 gerem > in pieces or ever <3809 la> > they came <4291

m@ta> > at the bottom <0773 >ar<iyth > of the den <1358 gob >.

 25. Then <0116 >edayin > king <4430 melek > Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh

> wrote <3790 k@thab > unto all <3606 kol > people <5972 <am >,

nations <0524 >ummah >, and languages <3961 lishshan >, that dwell

<1753 duwr > in all <3606 kol > the earth <0772 >ara< >; Peace <8001

sh@lam > be multiplied <7680 s@ga> > unto you.

 26 I make <7761 suwm > a decree <2942 t@<em >, That in every <3606

kol > dominion <7985 sholtan > of my kingdom <4437 malkuw > men

tremble <2112 zuwa< > and fear <1763 d@chal > before the God <0426

>elahh > of Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >: for he [is] the living <2417

chay > God <0426 >elahh >, and stedfast <7011 qayam > for ever <5957

<alam >, and his kingdom <4437 malkuw > [that] which <1768 diy >

shall not be destroyed <2255 chabal >, and his dominion <7985

sholtan > [shall be even] unto the end <5491 cowph >.

 27 He delivereth <7804 sh@zab > and rescueth <5338 n@tsal >, and he

worketh <5648 <abad > signs <0852 >ath > and wonders <8540 t@mahh >

in heaven <8065 shamayin > and in earth <0772 >ara< >, who <1768 diy

> hath delivered <7804 sh@zab > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > from the

power <3028 yad > of the lions <0744 >aryeh >.

 28 So this <1836 den > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > prospered <6744

ts@lach > in the reign <4437 malkuw > of Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh >,

and in the reign <4437 malkuw > of Cyrus <3567 Kowresh > the Persian

<6523 parzel >.

Daniel 7

 1. In the first <2298 chad > year <8140 sh@nah > of Belshazzar

<1113 Belsha>tstsar > king <4430 melek > of Babylon <0895 Babel >

Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > had <2370 chaza> > a dream <2493 chelem >

and visions <2376 chezev > of his head <7217 re>sh > upon his bed

<4903 mishkab >: then <0116 >edayin > he wrote <3790 k@thab > the

dream <2493 chelem >, [and] told <0560 >amar > the sum <7217 re>sh >

of the matters <4406 millah >.

 2 Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > spake <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar

>, I saw <2370 chaza> > in my vision <2376 chezev > by night <3916

leyl@ya> >, and, behold <0718 >aruw >, the four <0703 >arba< > winds

<7308 ruwach > of the heaven <8065 shamayin > strove <1519 giyach >

upon the great <7227 rab > sea <3221 yam >.

 3 And four <0703 >arba< > great <7260 rabrab > beasts <2423 cheyva>

> came <5559 c@liq > up from the sea <3221 yam >, diverse <8133

sh@na> > one <1668 da> > from another <1668 da> >.

 4 The first <6933 qadmay > [was] like a lion <0738 >ariy >, and had

eagle's <5403 n@shar > wings <1611 gaph >: I beheld till <5704 <ad >

the wings <1611 gaph > thereof were plucked <4804 m@rat >, and it

was lifted <5191 n@tal > up from the earth <0772 >ara< >, and made

stand <6966 quwm > upon the feet <7271 r@gal > as a man <0606 >enash

>, and a man's <0606 >enash > heart <3825 l@bab > was given <3052

y@hab > to it.

 5 And behold <0718 >aruw > another <0317 >ochoriy > beast <2423

cheyva> >, a second <8578 tinyan >, like <1821 d@mah > to a bear

<1678 dob >, and it raised <6966 quwm > up itself on one <2298 chad

> side <7859 sh@tar >, and [it had] three <8532 t@lath > ribs <6763

tsela< > in the mouth <6433 pum > of it between <0997 beyn > the

teeth <8128 shen > of it: and they said <0560 >amar > thus <3652 ken

> unto it, Arise <6965 quwm >, devour <0399 >akal > much <7690

saggiy> > flesh <1321 b@sar >.

 6 After <0870 >athar > this <1836 den > I beheld, and lo <0718

>aruw > another <0317 >ochoriy >, like a leopard <5245 n@mar >,

which <1768 diy > had upon the back <1355 gab > of it four <0703

>arba< > wings <1611 gaph > of a fowl <5776 <owph >; the beast <2423

cheyva> > had also four <0703 >arba< > heads <7217 re>sh >; and

dominion <7985 sholtan > was given <3052 y@hab > to it.

 7 After <0870 >athar > this <1836 den > I saw <2370 chaza> > in the

night <3916 leyl@ya> > visions <2376 chezev >, and behold <0718

>aruw > a fourth <7244 r@biy<ay > beast <2423 cheyva> >, dreadful

<1763 d@chal > and terrible <0574 >emtaniy >, and strong <8624

taqqiyph > exceedingly <3493 yattiyr >; and it had great <7260

rabrab > iron <6523 parzel > teeth <8128 shen >: it devoured <0399

>akal > and brake <1855 d@qaq > in pieces, and stamped <7512 r@phac

> the residue <7606 sh@>ar > with the feet <7271 r@gal > of it: and

it [was] diverse <8133 sh@na> > from all <3606 kol > the beasts

<2423 cheyva> > that [were] before <6925 qodam > it; and it had ten

<6236 <asar > horns <7162 qeren >.

 8 I considered <7920 s@kal > the horns <7162 qeren >, and, behold

<0431 >aluw >, there came <5559 c@liq > up among <0997 beyn > them

another <0317 >ochoriy > little <2192 z@<eyr > horn <7162 qeren >,

before <6925 qodam > whom there were three <8532 t@lath > of the

first <6933 qadmay > horns <7162 qeren > plucked <6132 <aqar > up by

the roots <6132 <aqar >: and, behold <0431 >aluw >, in this <1668

da> > horn <7162 qeren > [were] eyes <5870 <ayin > like the eyes

<5870 <ayin > of man <0606 >enash >, and a mouth <6433 pum >

speaking <4449 m@lal > great <7260 rabrab > things.

 9. I beheld till <5704 <ad > the thrones <3764 korce> > were cast

<7412 r@mah > down, and the Ancient <6268 <attiyq > of days <3118

yowm > did sit <3488 y@thiyb >, whose garment <3831 l@buwsh > [was]

white as snow <8517 t@lag >, and the hair <8177 s@<ar > of his head

<7217 re>sh > like the pure <5343 n@qe> > wool <6015 <amar >: his

throne <3764 korce> > [was like] the fiery <5135 nuwr > flame <7631

s@biyb >, [and] his wheels <1535 galgal > [as] burning <1815 d@laq >

fire <5135 nuwr >.

 10 A fiery <5135 nuwr > stream <5103 n@har > issued <5047 n@gad >

and came <5312 n@phaq > forth <5312 n@phaq > from before <6925 qodam

> him: thousand <0506 >alaph > thousands <0506 >alaph > ministered

<8120 sh@mash > unto him, and ten <7240 ribbow > thousand <7240

ribbow > times ten <7240 ribbow > thousand <7240 ribbow > stood

<6966 quwm > before <6925 qodam > him: the judgment <1780 diyn > was

set <3488 y@thiyb >, and the books <5609 c@phar > were opened <6606

p@thach >.

 11 I beheld then <0116 >edayin > because <4481 min > of the voice

<7032 qal > of the great <7260 rabrab > words <4406 millah > which

<1768 diy > the horn <7162 qeren > spake <4449 m@lal >: I beheld

[even <5705 <ad >] till <5704 <ad > the beast <2423 cheyva> > was

slain <6992 q@tal >, and his body <1655 geshem > destroyed <7>, and

given <3052 y@hab > to the burning <3346 y@qeda> > flame <0785 >esh

>.

 12 As concerning the rest <7606 sh@>ar > of the beasts <2423

cheyva> >, they had their dominion <7985 sholtan > taken <5709 <ada>

> away <5709 <ada> >: yet their lives <2417 chay > were prolonged

for a season <2166 z@man > and time <5732 <iddan >.

 13 I saw <2370 chaza> > in the night <6916 qiddah > visions <2376

chezev >, and, behold <0718 >aruw >, [one] like the Son <1247 bar >

of man <0606 >enash > came with the clouds <6050 <anan > of heaven

<8065 shamayin >, and came <4291 m@ta> > to the Ancient <6268

<attiyq > of days <3118 yowm >, and they brought <7127 q@reb > him

near <7127 q@reb > before <6925 qodam > him.

 14 And there was given <3052 y@hab > him dominion <7985 sholtan >,

and glory <3367 y@qar >, and a kingdom <4437 malkuw >, that all

<3606 kol > people <5972 <am >, nations <0524 >ummah >, and

languages <3961 lishshan >, should serve <6399 p@lach > him: his

dominion <7985 sholtan > [is] an everlasting <5957 <alam > dominion

<7985 sholtan >, which <1768 diy > shall not pass <5709 <ada> > away

<5709 <ada> >, and his kingdom <4437 malkuw > [that] which <1768 diy

> shall not be destroyed <2255 chabal >.

 15. I Daniel <1841 Daniye>l > was grieved <3735 Kara> > in my

spirit <7308 ruwach > in the midst <1459 gav > of [my] body <5085

nidneh >, and the visions <2376 chezev > of my head <7217 re>sh >

troubled <0927 b@hal > me.

 16 I came <7127 q@reb > near <7127 q@reb > unto one <2298 chad > of

them that stood <6966 quwm > by, and asked <1156 b@<a> > him the

truth <3330 yatstsiyb > of all <3606 kol > this <1836 den >. So he

told <0560 >amar > me, and made me know <3046 y@da< > the

interpretation <6591 p@shar > of the things <4406 millah >.

 17 These <0459 >illeyn > great <7260 rabrab > beasts <2423 cheyva>

>, which <1768 diy > are four <0703 >arba< >, [are] four <0703

>arba< > kings <4430 melek >, [which] shall arise <6965 quwm > out

of the earth <0772 >ara< >.

 18 But the saints <6922 qaddiysh > of the most <5946 <elyown > High

<5946 <elyown > shall take <6902 q@bal > the kingdom <4437 malkuw >,

and possess <2631 chacan > the kingdom <4437 malkuw > for ever <5957

<alam >, even <5705 <ad > for ever <5957 <alam > and ever <5957

<alam >.

 19 Then <0116 >edayin > I would <6634 ts@ba> > know <3046 y@da< >

the truth <3321 y@tseb > of the fourth <7244 r@biy<ay > beast <2423

cheyva> >, which <1768 diy > was diverse <8133 sh@na> > from all

<3606 kol > the others, exceeding <3493 yattiyr > dreadful <1763

d@chal >, whose <1768 diy > teeth <8128 shen > [were of] iron <6523

parzel >, and his nails <2953 t@phar > [of] brass <5174 n@chash >;

[which] devoured <0399 >akal >, brake <1855 d@qaq > in pieces, and

stamped <7512 r@phac > the residue <7606 sh@>ar > with his feet

<7271 r@gal >;

20 And of the ten <6236 <asar > horns <7162 qeren > that [were] in

his head <7217 re>sh >, and [of] the other <0317 >ochoriy > which

<1768 diy > came <5559 c@liq > up, and before whom <4479 man > three

<8532 t@lath > fell <5308 n@phal >; even [of] that horn <7162 qeren

> that had eyes <5870 <ayin >, and a mouth <6433 pum > that spake

<4449 m@lal > very <7260 rabrab > great <7260 rabrab > things, whose

look <2376 chezev > [was] more <5750 <owd > stout <7229 rab > than

<4481 min > his fellows <2273 chabrah >.

 21 I beheld, and the same <1797 dikken > horn <7162 qeren > made

<5648 <abad > war <7129 q@rab > with the saints <6922 qaddiysh >,

and prevailed <3202 y@kel > against them;

 22 Until <5704 <ad > the Ancient <6268 <attiyq > of days <3118 yowm

> came <0858 >athah >, and judgment <1780 diyn > was given <3052

y@hab > to the saints <6922 qaddiysh > of the most <5946 <elyown >

High <5946 <elyown >; and the time <2166 z@man > came <4291 m@ta> >

that the saints <6922 qaddiysh > possessed <2631 chacan > the

kingdom <4437 malkuw >.

 23 Thus <3652 ken > he said <0560 >amar >, The fourth <7244

r@biy<ay > beast <2423 cheyva> > shall be the fourth <7244 r@biy<ay

> kingdom <4437 malkuw > upon earth <0772 >ara< >, which <1768 diy >

shall be diverse <8133 sh@na> > from all <3606 kol > kingdoms <4437

malkuw >, and shall devour <0399 >akal > the whole <3606 kol > earth

<0772 >ara< >, and shall tread <1759 duwsh > it down, and break

<1854 daqaq > it in pieces.

 24 And the ten <6236 <asar > horns <7162 qeren > out of this

kingdom <4437 malkuw > [are] ten <6236 <asar > kings <4430 melek >

[that] shall arise <6965 quwm >: and another <0312 >acher > shall

rise <6966 quwm > after <0311 >achar > them; and he shall be diverse

<8133 sh@na> > from the first <6933 qadmay >, and he shall subdue

<8214 sh@phal > three <8532 t@lath > kings <4430 melek >.

 25 And he shall speak <4449 m@lal > [great] words <4406 millah >

against <6655 tsad > the most <5943 <illay > High <5943 <illay >,

and shall wear <1080 b@la> > out the saints <6922 qaddiysh > of the

to change <8133 sh@na> > times <2166 z@man > and laws <1882 dath >:

and they shall be given <3052 y@hab > into his hand <3028 yad >

until <5704 <ad > a time <5732 <iddan > and times <5732 <iddan > and

the dividing <6387 p@lag > of time <5732 <iddan >.

 26 But the judgment <1780 diyn > shall sit <3488 y@thiyb >, and

they shall take <5709 <ada> > away <5709 <ada> > his dominion <7985

the end <5491 cowph >.

27 And the kingdom <4437 malkuw > and dominion <7985 sholtan >, and

the greatness <7238 r@buw > of the kingdom <4437 malkuw > under

<8460 t@chowth > the whole <3606 kol > heaven <8065 shamayin >,

shall be given <3052 y@hab > to the people <5972 <am > of the saints

28 Hitherto [is] the end <5491 cowph > of the matter <4406 millah

much <7690 saggiy> > troubled <0927 b@hal > me, and my countenance

<2122 ziyv > changed <8133 sh@na> > in me: but I kept <5202 n@tar >

the matter <4406 millah > in my heart <3821 leb >.

Daniel 8

 1. In the third <7969 shalowsh > year <8141 shaneh > of the reign

<4438 malkuwth > of king <4428 melek > Belshazzar <1113

Belsha>tstsar > a vision <2377 chazown > appeared <7200 ra>ah > unto

me, [even unto] me Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, after <0310 >achar >

that which appeared <7200 ra>ah > unto me at the first <8462

t@chillah >.

 2 And I saw <7200 ra>ah > in a vision <2377 chazown >; and it came

<1961 hayah > to pass, when I saw <7200 ra>ah >, that I [was] at

Shushan <7800 Shuwshan > [in] the palace <1002 biyrah >, which <0834

>aher > [is] in the province <4082 m@diynah > of Elam <5867 <Eylam

>; and I saw <7200 ra>ah > in a vision <2377 chazown >, and I was by

the river <0180 >uwbal > of Ulai <0195 >Uwlay >.

 3 Then I lifted <5375 nasa> > up mine eyes <5869 <ayin >, and saw

<7200 ra>ah >, and, behold <2009 hinneh >, there stood <5975 <amad >

before <6440 paniym > the river <0180 >uwbal > a ram <0352 >ayil >

which had [two] horns <7161 qeren >: and the [two] horns <7161 qeren

> [were] high <1364 gaboahh >; but one <0259 >echad > [was] higher

<1364 gaboahh > than <4480 min > the other <8145 sheniy >, and the

higher <1364 gaboahh > came <5927 <alah > up last <0314 >acharown >.

 4 I saw <7200 ra>ah > the ram <0352 >ayil > pushing <5055 nagach >

westward <3220 yam >, and northward <6828 tsaphown >, and southward

<5045 negeb >; so that no <3808 lo> > beasts <2416 chay > might

stand <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > him, neither <0369 >ayin >

[was there any] that could deliver <5337 natsal > out of his hand

<3027 yad >; but he did <6213 <asah > according to his will <7522

ratsown >, and became <1431 gadal > great <1431 gadal >.

 5 And as I was considering <0995 biyn >, behold <2009 hinneh >, an

he goat <5795 <ez > came <0935 bow> > from the west <4628 ma<arab >

on the face <6440 paniym > of the whole <3605 kol > earth <0776

>erets >, and touched <5060 naga< > not the ground <0776 >erets >:

and the goat <6842 tsaphiyr > [had] a notable <2380 chazuwth > horn

<7161 qeren > between <0996 beyn > his eyes <5869 <ayin >.

 6 And he came <0935 bow> > to the ram <0352 >ayil > that had [two]

horns <7161 qeren >, which <0834 >aher > I had seen <7200 ra>ah >

standing <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > the river <0180 >uwbal

>, and ran <7323 ruwts > unto him in the fury <2534 chemah > of his

power <3581 koach >.

 7 And I saw <7200 ra>ah > him come <5060 naga< > close <0681 >etsel

> unto the ram <0352 >ayil >, and he was moved with choler <4843

marar > against <0413 >el > him, and smote <5221 nakah > the ram

<0352 >ayil >, and brake <7665 shabar > his two <8147 sh@nayim >

horns <7161 qeren >: and there was no <3808 lo> > power <3581 koach

> in the ram <0352 >ayil > to stand <5975 <amad > before <6440

paniym > him, but he cast <7993 shalak > him down to the ground

<0776 >erets >, and stamped <7429 ramac > upon him: and there was

none <3808 lo> > that could deliver <5337 natsal > the ram <0352

>ayil > out of his hand <3027 yad >.

8 Therefore the he goat <6842 tsaphiyr > waxed very great <1431

gadal >: and when he was strong <6105 <atsam >, the great <1419

gadowl > horn <7161 qeren > was broken <7665 shabar >; and for it

came <5927 <alah > up four <0702 >arba< > notable <2380 chazuwth >

ones toward the four <0702 >arba< > winds <7307 ruwach > of heaven

<8064 shamayim >.

 9 And out of one <0259 >echad > of them came <3318 yatsa> > forth

<3318 yatsa> > a little <4704 mitsts@<iyrah > horn <7161 qeren >,

which waxed exceeding <3499 yether > great <1431 gadal >, toward

<0413 >el > the south <5045 negeb >, and toward <0413 >el > the east

<4217 mizrach >, and toward <0413 >el > the pleasant <6643 ts@biy >

[land].

10 And it waxed great <1431 gadal >, [even] to the host <6635

tsaba> > of heaven <8064 shamayim >; and it cast <5307 naphal > down

<5307 naphal > [some] of the host <6635 tsaba> > and of the stars

<3556 kowkab > to the ground <0776 >erets >, and stamped <7429 ramac

> upon them.

11 Yea, he magnified <1431 gadal > [himself] even to the prince

<8269 sar > of the host <6635 tsaba> >, and by him the daily <8548

tamiyd > [sacrifice] was taken <7311 ruwm > away <7311 ruwm >, and

the place <4349 makown > of his sanctuary <4720 miqdash > was cast

<7993 shalak > down.

 12 And an host <6635 tsaba> > was given <5414 nathan > [him]

against <5921 <al > the daily <8548 tamiyd > [sacrifice] by reason

of transgression <6588 pesha< >, and it cast <7993 shalak > down the

truth <0571 >emeth > to the ground <0776 >erets >; and it practised

<6213 <asah >, and prospered <6743 tsalach >.

 13 Then I heard <8085 shama< > one <0259 >echad > saint <6918

qadowsh > speaking <1696 dabar >, and another <0259 >echad > saint

<6918 qadowsh > said <0559 >amar > unto that certain <6422 palmowniy

> [saint] which spake <1696 dabar >, How <5704 <ad > long <5704 <ad

> [shall be] the vision <2377 chazown > [concerning] the daily <8548

tamiyd > [sacrifice], and the transgression <6588 pesha< > of

desolation <8074 shamem >, to give <5414 nathan > both the sanctuary

<6944 qodesh > and the host <6635 tsaba> > to be trodden <4823

mirmac > under foot <4823 mirmac >?

14 And he said <0559 >amar > unto me, Unto two thousand <0505

>eleph > and three <7969 shalowsh > hundred <3967 me>ah > days; then

shall the sanctuary <6944 qodesh > be cleansed <6663 tsadaq >.

 15. And it came <1961 hayah > to pass, when I, [even] I Daniel

<1840 Daniye>l >, had seen <7200 ra>ah > the vision <2377 chazown >,

and sought <1245 baqash > for the meaning <0998 biynah >, then,

behold <2009 hinneh >, there stood <5975 <amad > before <5048 neged

> me as the appearance <4758 mar>eh > of a man <1397 geber >.

 16 And I heard <8085 shama< > a man's <0120 >adam > voice <6963

qowl > between <0996 beyn > [the banks of] Ulai <0195 >Uwlay >,

which called <7121 qara> >, and said <0559 >amar >, Gabriel <1403

Gabriy>el >, make this <1975 hallaz > [man] to understand <0995 biyn

> the vision <4758 mar>eh >.

 17 So he came <0935 bow> > near <0681 >etsel > where I stood <5977

<omed >: and when he came <0935 bow> >, I was afraid <1204 ba<ath >,

and fell <5307 naphal > upon my face <6440 paniym >: but he said

<0559 >amar > unto me, Understand <0995 biyn >, O son <1121 ben > of

man <0120 >adam >: for at the time <6256 <eth > of the end <7093

qets > [shall be] the vision <4758 mar>eh >.

18 Now as he was speaking <1696 dabar > with me, I was in a deep

<7290 radam > sleep <7290 radam > on <5921 <al > my face <6440

paniym > toward the ground <0776 >erets >: but he touched <5060

naga< > me, and set <5975 <amad > me upright <5977 <omed >.

 19 And he said <0559 >amar >, Behold <2005 hen >, I will make thee

know <3045 yada< > what shall be in the last <0319 >achariyth > end

of the indignation <2195 za<am >: for at the time appointed <4150

mow<ed > the end <7093 qets > [shall be].

 20 The ram <0352 >ayil > which <0834 >aher > thou sawest <7200

ra>ah > having <1167 ba<al > [two] horns <7161 qeren > [are] the

kings <4428 melek > of Media <4074 Maday > and Persia <6539 Parac >.

 21 And the rough <8163 sa<iyr > goat <6842 tsaphiyr > [is] the king

<4428 melek > of Grecia <3120 Yavan >: and the great <1419 gadowl >

horn <7161 qeren > that [is] between <0996 beyn > his eyes <5869

<ayin > [is] the first <7223 ri>shown > king <4428 melek >.

 22 Now that being broken <7665 shabar >, whereas four <0702 >arba<

> stood <5975 <amad > up for it, four <0702 >arba< > kingdoms <4438

malkuwth > shall stand <5975 <amad > up out of the nation <1471 gowy

>, but not in his power <3581 koach >.

23 And in the latter <0319 >achariyth > time of their kingdom <4438

malkuwth >, when the transgressors <6586 pasha< > are come to the

full <8552 tamam >, a king <4428 melek > of fierce <5794 <az >

countenance <6440 paniym >, and understanding <0995 biyn > dark

<2420 chiydah > sentences <2420 chiydah >, shall stand <5975 <amad >

up.

 24 And his power <3581 koach > shall be mighty <6105 <atsam >, but

not by his own power <3581 koach >: and he shall destroy <7843

shachath > wonderfully <6381 pala> >, and shall prosper <6743

tsalach >, and practise <6213 <asah >, and shall destroy <7843

shachath > the mighty <6099 <atsuwm > and the holy <6918 qadowsh >

people <5971 <am >.

 25 And through <5921 <al > his policy <7922 sekel > also he shall

cause craft <4820 mirmah > to prosper <6743 tsalach > in his hand

<3027 yad >; and he shall magnify <1431 gadal > [himself] in his

heart <3824 lebab >, and by peace <7962 shalvah > shall destroy

<7843 shachath > many <7227 rab >: he shall also stand <5975 <amad >

up against <5921 <al > the Prince <8269 sar > of princes <8269 sar

>; but he shall be broken <7665 shabar > without <0657 >ephec > hand

<3027 yad >.

 26 And the vision <4758 mar>eh > of the evening <6153 <ereb > and

the morning <1242 boqer > which <0834 >aher > was told <0560 >amar >

[is] true <0571 >emeth >: wherefore shut <5640 catham > thou up the

vision <2377 chazown >; for it [shall be] for many <7227 rab > days

<3117 yowm >.

 27 And I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > fainted <1961 hayah >, and was

sick <2470 chalah > [certain] days <3117 yowm >; afterward I rose

<6965 quwm > up, and did <6213 <asah > the king's <4428 melek >

business <4399 m@la>kah >; and I was astonished <8074 shamem > at

<5921 <al > the vision <4758 mar>eh >, but none <0369 >ayin >

understood <0995 biyn > [it].

Daniel 9

 1. In the first <0259 >echad > year <8141 shaneh > of Darius <1867

Dar<yavesh > the son <1121 ben > of Ahasuerus <0325 >Achashverowsh

>, of the seed <2233 zera< > of the Medes <4074 Maday >, which <0834

>aher > was made king <4427 malak > over <5921 <al > the realm <4438

malkuwth > of the Chaldeans <3778 Kasdiy >;

 2 In the first <0259 >echad > year <8141 shaneh > of his reign

<4427 malak > I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > understood <0995 biyn > by

books <5612 cepher > the number <4557 micpar > of the years <8141

shaneh >, whereof <0834 >aher > the word <1697 dabar > of the LORD

<3068 Y@hovah > came <1961 hayah > to Jeremiah <3414 Yirm@yah > the

prophet <5030 nabiy> >, that he would accomplish <4390 male> >

seventy <7657 shib<iym. > years <8141 shaneh > in the desolations

<2723 chorbah > of Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >.

3 And I set <5414 nathan > my face <6440 paniym > unto the Lord

<0136 >Adonay > God <0430 >elohiym >, to seek <1245 baqash > by

prayer <8605 t@phillah > and supplications <8469 tachanuwn >, with

fasting <6685 tsowm >, and sackcloth <8242 saq >, and ashes <0665

>epher >:

 4. And I prayed <6419 palal > unto the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > my God

<0430 >elohiym >, and made my confession <3034 yadah >, and said

<0559 >amar >, O Lord <0136 >Adonay >, the great <1419 gadowl > and

dreadful <3372 yare> > God <0410 >el >, keeping <8104 shamar > the

covenant <1285 b@riyth > and mercy <2617 checed > to them that love

<0157 >ahab > him, and to them that keep <8104 shamar > his

commandments <4687 mitsvah >;

 5 We have sinned <2398 chata> >, and have committed <5753 <avah >

iniquity <5753 <avah >, and have done wickedly <7561 rasha< >, and

have rebelled <4775 marad >, even by departing <5493 cuwr > from thy

precepts <4687 mitsvah > and from thy judgments <4941 mishpat >:

 6 Neither <3808 lo> > have we hearkened <8085 shama< > unto thy

servants <5650 <ebed > the prophets <5030 nabiy> >, which <0834

>aher > spake <1696 dabar > in thy name <8034 shem > to our kings

<4428 melek >, our princes <8269 sar >, and our fathers <1>, and to

all <3605 kol > the people <5971 <am > of the land <0776 >erets >.

 7 O Lord <0136 >Adonay >, righteousness <6666 ts@daqah >

[belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion <1322 bosheth > of

faces <6440 paniym >, as at this <2088 zeh > day <3117 yowm >; to

the men <0376 >iysh > of Judah <3063 Y@huwdah >, and to the

inhabitants <3427 yashab > of Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >, and

unto all <3605 kol > Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, [that are] near <7138

qarowb >, and [that are] far <7350 rachowq > off, through all <3605

kol > the countries <0776 >erets > whither thou hast driven <5080

nadach > them, because of their trespass <4604 ma<al > that they

have trespassed <4603 ma<al > against thee.

 8 O Lord <0136 >Adonay >, to us [belongeth] confusion <1322 bosheth

> of face <6440 paniym >, to our kings <4428 melek >, to our princes

<8269 sar >, and to our fathers <1>, because <0834 >aher > we have

sinned <2398 chata> > against thee.

 9 To the Lord <0136 >Adonay > our God <0430 >elohiym > [belong]

mercies <7356 racham > and forgivenesses <5547 c@liychah >, though

<3588 kiy > we have rebelled <4775 marad > against him;

 10 Neither <3808 lo> > have we obeyed <8085 shama< > the voice

<6963 qowl > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > our God <0430 >elohiym >,

to walk <3212 yalak > in his laws <8451 towrah >, which <0834 >aher

> he set <5414 nathan > before <6440 paniym > us by his servants

<5650 <ebed > the prophets <5030 nabiy> >.

 11 Yea, all <3605 kol > Israel <3478 Yisra>el > have transgressed

<5674 <abar > thy law <8451 towrah >, even by departing <5493 cuwr

>, that they might not obey <8085 shama< > thy voice <6963 qowl >;

therefore the curse <0423 >alah > is poured <5413 nathak > upon us,

and the oath <7621 sh@buw<ah > that [is] written <3789 kathab > in

the law <8451 towrah > of Moses <4872 Mosheh > the servant <5650

<ebed > of God <0430 >elohiym >, because <3588 kiy > we have sinned

<2398 chata> > against him.

12 And he hath confirmed <6965 quwm > his words <1697 dabar >,

which <0834 >aher > he spake <1696 dabar > against <5921 <al > us,

and against <5921 <al > our judges <8199 shaphat > that judged <8199

shaphat > us, by bringing <0935 bow> > upon us a great <1419 gadowl

> evil <7451 ra< >: for under <8478 tachath > the whole <3605 kol >

heaven <8064 shamayim > hath not been done as hath been done <6213

<asah > upon Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >.

13 As [it is] written <3789 kathab > in the law <8451 towrah > of

Moses <4872 Mosheh >, all <3605 kol > this <2063 zo>th > evil <7451

ra< > is come <0935 bow> > upon us: yet made we not our prayer <2470

chalah > before the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > our God <0430 >elohiym >,

that we might turn <7725 shuwb > from our iniquities <5771 <avon >,

and understand <7919 sakal > thy truth <0571 >emeth >.

 14 Therefore hath the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > watched <8245 shaqad >

upon the evil <7451 ra< >, and brought <0935 bow> > it upon us: for

the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > our God <0430 >elohiym > [is] righteous

<6662 tsaddiyq > in all <3605 kol > his works <4639 ma<aseh > which

<0834 >aher > he doeth <6213 <asah >: for we obeyed <8085 shama< >

not his voice <6963 qowl >.

 15 And now <6258 <attah >, O Lord <0136 >Adonay > our God <0430

>elohiym >, that hast brought <3318 yatsa> > thy people <5971 <am >

forth <3318 yatsa> > out of the land <0776 >erets > of Egypt <4714

Mitsrayim > with a mighty <2389 chazaq > hand <3027 yad >, and hast

gotten <6213 <asah > thee renown <8034 shem >, as at this day <3117

yowm >; we have sinned <2398 chata> >, we have done wickedly <7561

rasha< >.

 16 O Lord <0136 >Adonay >, according to all <3605 kol > thy

righteousness <6666 ts@daqah >, I beseech <4994 na> > thee, let

thine anger <0639 >aph > and thy fury <2534 chemah > be turned <7725

shuwb > away from thy city <5892 <iyr > Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim

>, thy holy <6944 qodesh > mountain <2022 har >: because <3588 kiy >

for our sins <2399 chet> >, and for the iniquities <5771 <avon > of

our fathers <1>, Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim > and thy people <5971

<am > [are become] a reproach <2781 cherpah > to all <3605 kol >

[that are] about <5439 cabiyb > us.

 17 Now <6258 <attah > therefore, O our God <0430 >elohiym >, hear

<8085 shama< > the prayer <8605 t@phillah > of thy servant <5650

<ebed >, and his supplications <8469 tachanuwn >, and cause thy face

<6440 paniym > to shine <0215 >owr > upon thy sanctuary <4720

miqdash > that is desolate <8074 shamem >, for the Lord's <0136

>Adonay > sake <4616 ma<an >.

 18 O my God <0430 >elohiym >, incline <5186 natah > thine ear <0241

>ozen >, and hear <8085 shama< >; open <6491 paqach > thine eyes

<5869 <ayin >, and behold <7200 ra>ah > our desolations <8074 shamem

>, and the city <5892 <iyr > which <0834 >aher > is called <7121

qara> > by thy name <8034 shem >: for we do not present <5307 naphal

our righteousnesses <6666 ts@daqah >, but for thy great <7227 rab >

mercies <7356 racham >.

 19 O Lord <0136 >Adonay >, hear <8085 shama< >; O Lord <0136

>Adonay >, forgive <5545 calach >; O Lord <0136 >Adonay >, hearken

<7181 qashab > and do <6213 <asah >; defer <0309 >achar > not, for

thine own sake <4616 ma<an >, O my God <0430 >elohiym >: for thy

city <5892 <iyr > and thy people <5971 <am > are called <7121 qara>

> by thy name <8034 shem >.

 20. And whiles <5750 <owd > I [was] speaking <1696 dabar >, and

praying <6419 palal >, and confessing <3034 yadah > my sin <2403

chatta>ah > and the sin <2403 chatta>ah > of my people <5971 <am >

Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, and presenting <5307 naphal > my

supplication <8467 t@chinnah > before <6440 paniym > the LORD <3068

Y@hovah > my God <0430 >elohiym > for the holy <6944 qodesh >

mountain <2022 har > of my God <0430 >elohiym >;

 21 Yea, whiles I [was] speaking <1696 dabar > in prayer <8605

t@phillah >, even the man <0376 >iysh > Gabriel <1403 Gabriy>el >,

whom <0834 >aher > I had seen <7200 ra>ah > in the vision <2377

chazown > at the beginning <8462 t@chillah >, being caused to fly

<3286 ya<aph > swiftly <3288 y@aph >, touched <5060 naga< > me about

the time <6256 <eth > of the evening <6153 <ereb > oblation <4503

minchah >.

22 And he informed <0995 biyn > [me], and talked <1696 dabar > with

me, and said <0559 >amar >, O Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, I am now

<6258 <attah > come <3318 yatsa> > forth <3318 yatsa> > to give thee

skill <7919 sakal > and understanding <0998 biynah >.

 23 At the beginning <8462 t@chillah > of thy supplications <8469

tachanuwn > the commandment <1697 dabar > came <3318 yatsa> > forth

<3318 yatsa> >, and I am come <0935 bow> > to shew <5046 nagad >

[thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved <2530 chamad >: therefore

understand <0995 biyn > the matter <1697 dabar >, and consider <0995

biyn > the vision <2377 chazown >.

 24 Seventy <7657 shib<iym. > weeks <7620 shabuwa< > are determined

<2852 chathak > upon thy people <5971 <am > and upon thy holy <6944

qodesh > city <5892 <iyr >, to finish <3607 kala> > the

transgression <6588 pesha< >, and to make an end <2856 chatham > of

sins <2403 chatta>ah >, and to make reconciliation <3722 kaphar >

for iniquity <5771 <avon >, and to bring <0935 bow> > in everlasting

<5769 <owlam > righteousness <6664 tsedeq >, and to seal <2856

chatham > up the vision <2377 chazown > and prophecy <5030 nabiy> >,

and to anoint <4886 mashach > the most <6944 qodesh > Holy <6944

qodesh >.

 25 Know <3045 yada< > therefore and understand <7919 sakal >,

[that] from the going <4161 mowtsa> > forth <4161 mowtsa> > of the

commandment <1697 dabar > to restore <7725 shuwb > and to build

<1129 banah > Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim > unto the Messiah <4899

mashiyach > the Prince <5057 nagiyd > [shall be] seven <7651 sheba<

<8147 sh@nayim > weeks <7620 shabuwa< >: the street <7339 r@chob >

shall be built <1129 banah > again <7725 shuwb >, and the wall <2742

charuwts >, even in troublous <5916 <akar > times <6256 <eth >.

 26 And after <0310 >achar > threescore <8346 shishshiym > and two

<8147 sh@nayim > weeks <7620 shabuwa< > shall Messiah <4899

mashiyach > be cut <3772 karath > off, but not for himself: and the

people <5971 <am > of the prince <5057 nagiyd > that shall come

<0935 bow> > shall destroy <7843 shachath > the city <5892 <iyr >

and the sanctuary <6944 qodesh >; and the end <7093 qets > thereof

[shall be] with a flood <7858 sheteph >, and unto the end <7093 qets

> of the war <4421 milchamah > desolations <8074 shamem > are

determined <2782 charats >.

 27 And he shall confirm <1396 gabar > the covenant <1285 b@riyth >

with many <7227 rab > for one <0259 >echad > week <7620 shabuwa< >:

and in the midst <2677 chetsiy > of the week <7620 shabuwa< > he

shall cause the sacrifice <2077 zebach > and the oblation <4503

minchah > to cease <7673 shabath >, and for the overspreading <3671

kanaph > of abominations <8251 shiqquwts > he shall make [it]

desolate <8074 shamem >, even until <5704 <ad > the consummation

<3617 kalah >, and that determined <2782 charats > shall be poured

<5413 nathak > upon the desolate <8076 shamem >.

Daniel 10

 1. In the third <7969 shalowsh > year <8141 shaneh > of Cyrus <3566

Kowresh > king <4428 melek > of Persia <6539 Parac > a thing <1697

dabar > was revealed <1540 galah > unto Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >,

whose <0834 >aher > name <8034 shem > was called <7121 qara> >

Belteshazzar <1095 Belt@sha>tstsar >; and the thing <1697 dabar >

[was] true <0571 >emeth >, but the time appointed <6635 tsaba> >

[was] long <1419 gadowl >: and he understood <0995 biyn > the thing

<1697 dabar >, and had understanding <0998 biynah > of the vision

<4758 mar>eh >.

 2 In those <1992 hem > days <3117 yowm > I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >

was mourning <56> three <7969 shalowsh > full <3117 yowm > weeks

<7620 shabuwa< >.

 3 I ate <0398 >akal > no <3808 lo> > pleasant <2530 chamad > bread

<3899 lechem >, neither <3808 lo> > came <0935 bow> > flesh <1320

basar > nor <3808 lo> > wine <3196 yayin > in my mouth <6310 peh >,

neither <3808 lo> > did I anoint <5480 cuwk > myself at all, till

<5704 <ad > three <7969 shalowsh > whole <3117 yowm > weeks <7620

shabuwa< > were fulfilled <4390 male> >.

 4 And in the four <0702 >arba< > and twentieth <6242 <esriym > day

<3117 yowm > of the first <7223 ri>shown > month <2320 chodesh >, as

I was by the side <3027 yad > of the great <1419 gadowl > river

<5104 nahar >, which <1931 huw> > [is] Hiddekel <2313 Chiddeqel >;

 5 Then I lifted <5375 nasa> > up mine eyes <5869 <ayin >, and

looked <7200 ra>ah >, and behold <2009 hinneh > a certain <0259

>echad > man <0376 >iysh > clothed <3847 labash > in linen <0906 bad

>, whose loins <4975 mothen > [were] girded <2296 chagar > with fine

gold <3800 kethem > of Uphaz <0210 >Uwphaz >:

 6 His body <1472 g@viyah > also [was] like the beryl <8658

tarshiysh >, and his face <6440 paniym > as the appearance <4758

mar>eh > of lightning <1300 baraq >, and his eyes <5869 <ayin > as

lamps <3940 lappiyd > of fire <0784 >esh >, and his arms <2220

z@rowa< > and his feet <4772 marg@lah > like in colour <5869 <ayin >

to polished <7044 qalal > brass <5178 n@chosheth >, and the voice

<6963 qowl > of his words <1697 dabar > like the voice <6963 qowl >

of a multitude <1995 hamown >.

 7 And I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > alone <0905 bad > saw <7200 ra>ah >

the vision <4759 mar>ah >: for the men <0582 >enowsh > that were

with me saw <7200 ra>ah > not the vision <4759 mar>ah >; but a great

<1419 gadowl > quaking <2731 charadah > fell <5307 naphal > upon

them, so that they fled <1272 barach > to hide <2244> themselves.

 8 Therefore I was left <7604 sha>ar > alone <0905 bad >, and saw

<7200 ra>ah > this great <1419 gadowl > vision <4759 mar>ah >, and

there remained <7604 sha>ar > no <3808 lo> > strength <3581 koach >

in me: for my comeliness <1935 howd > was turned <2015 haphak > in

me into corruption <4889 mashchiyth >, and I retained <6113 <atsar >

no <3808 lo> > strength <3581 koach >.

 9 Yet heard <8085 shama< > I the voice <6963 qowl > of his words

<1697 dabar >: and when I heard <8085 shama< > the voice <6963 qowl

> of his words <1697 dabar >, then was I in a deep <7290 radam >

sleep <7290 radam > on my face <6440 paniym >, and my face <6440

paniym > toward the ground <0776 >erets >.

 10. And, behold <2009 hinneh >, an hand <3027 yad > touched <5060

naga< > me, which set <5128 nuwa< > me upon my knees <1290 berek >

and [upon] the palms <3709 kaph > of my hands <3027 yad >.

 11 And he said <0559 >amar > unto me, O Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, a

man <0376 >iysh > greatly beloved <2530 chamad >, understand <0995

biyn > the words <1697 dabar > that I speak <1696 dabar > unto thee,

and stand <5975 <amad > upright <5977 <omed >: for unto thee am I

now <6258 <attah > sent <7971 shalach >. And when he had spoken

<1696 dabar > this <2088 zeh > word <1697 dabar > unto me, I stood

<5975 <amad > trembling <7460>.

 12 Then said <0559 >amar > he unto me, Fear <3372 yare> > not,

Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >: for from the first <7223 ri>shown > day

<3117 yowm > that thou didst set <5414 nathan > thine heart <3820

leb > to understand <0995 biyn >, and to chasten <6031 <anah >

thyself before <6440 paniym > thy God <0430 >elohiym >, thy words

<1697 dabar > were heard <8085 shama< >, and I am come <0935 bow> >

for thy words <1697 dabar >.

13 But the prince <8269 sar > of the kingdom <4438 malkuwth > of

Persia <6539 Parac > withstood <5975 <amad > me one <0259 >echad >

and twenty <6242 <esriym > days <3117 yowm >: but, lo <2009 hinneh

>, Michael <4317 Miyka>el >, one <0259 >echad > of the chief <7223

ri>shown > princes <8269 sar >, came <0935 bow> > to help <5826

<azar > me; and I remained <3498 yathar > there <8033 sham > with

the kings <4428 melek > of Persia <6539 Parac >.

 14 Now I am come <0935 bow> > to make thee understand <0995 biyn >

what shall befall <7136 qarah > thy people <5971 <am > in the latter

<0319 >achariyth > days <3117 yowm >: for yet <5750 <owd > the

vision <2377 chazown > [is] for [many] days <3117 yowm >.

 15 And when he had spoken <1696 dabar > such <0428 >el-leh > words

<1697 dabar > unto me, I set <5414 nathan > my face <6440 paniym >

toward the ground <0776 >erets >, and I became <0481 >alam > dumb

<0481 >alam >.

16 And, behold <2009 hinneh >, [one] like the similitude <1823

d@muwth > of the sons <1121 ben > of men <0120 >adam > touched <5060

naga< > my lips <8193 saphah >: then I opened <6605 pathach > my

mouth <6310 peh >, and spake <1696 dabar >, and said <0559 >amar >

unto him that stood <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > me, O my

lord <0113 >adown >, by the vision <4758 mar>eh > my sorrows <6735

tsiyr > are turned <2015 haphak > upon me, and I have retained <6113

<atsar > no <3808 lo> > strength <3581 koach >.

 17 For how <1963 heyk > can <3201 yakol > the servant <5650 <ebed >

of this <2088 zeh > my lord <0113 >adown > talk <1696 dabar > with

this <2088 zeh > my lord <0113 >adown >? for as for me, straightway

<6258 <attah > there remained <5975 <amad > no <3808 lo> > strength

<3581 koach > in me, neither <3808 lo> > is there breath <5397

n@shamah > left <7604 sha>ar > in me.

 18 Then there came again <3284 ya<anah > and touched <5060 naga< >

me [one] like the appearance <4758 mar>eh > of a man <0120 >adam >,

and he strengthened <2388 chazaq > me,

 19 And said <0559 >amar >, O man <0376 >iysh > greatly beloved

<2530 chamad >, fear <3372 yare> > not: peace <7965 shalowm > [be]

unto thee, be strong <2388 chazaq >, yea, be strong <2388 chazaq >.

And when he had spoken <1696 dabar > unto me, I was strengthened

<2388 chazaq >, and said <0559 >amar >, Let my lord <0113 >adown >

speak <1696 dabar >; for thou hast strengthened <2388 chazaq > me.

 20 Then said <0559 >amar > he, Knowest <3045 yada< > thou wherefore

<4100 mah > I come <0935 bow> > unto thee? and now <6258 <attah >

will I return <7725 shuwb > to fight <3898 lacham > with the prince

<8269 sar > of Persia <6539 Parac >: and when I am gone <3318 yatsa>

> forth <3318 yatsa> >, lo <2009 hinneh >, the prince <8269 sar > of

Grecia <3120 Yavan > shall come <0935 bow> >.

21 But I will shew <5046 nagad > thee that which is noted <7559

rasham > in the scripture <3791 kathab > of truth <0571 >emeth >:

and [there is] none <0369 >ayin > that holdeth <2388 chazaq > with

me in these <0428 >el-leh > things, but Michael <4317 Miyka>el >

your prince <8269 sar >.

Daniel 11

 1. Also I in the first <0259 >echad > year <8141 shaneh > of Darius

<1867 Dar<yavesh > the Mede <4075 Maday >, [even] I, stood <5975

<amad > to confirm <2388 chazaq > and to strengthen <4581 ma<owz >

him.

 2 And now <6258 <attah > will I shew <5046 nagad > thee the truth

<0571 >emeth >. Behold <2009 hinneh >, there shall stand <5975 <amad

> up yet <5750 <owd > three <7969 shalowsh > kings <4428 melek > in

Persia <6539 Parac >; and the fourth <7243 r@biy<iy > shall be far

<1419 gadowl > richer <6238 <ashar > than [they] all <3605 kol >:

and by his strength <2394 chozqah > through his riches <6239 <osher

> he shall stir <5782 <uwr > up all <3605 kol > against the realm

<4438 malkuwth > of Grecia <3120 Yavan >.

 3 And a mighty <1368 gibbowr > king <4428 melek > shall stand <5975

<amad > up, that shall rule <4910 mashal > with great <7227 rab >

dominion <4474 mimshal >, and do <6213 <asah > according to his will

<7522 ratsown >.

4 And when he shall stand <5975 <amad > up, his kingdom <4438

malkuwth > shall be broken <7665 shabar >, and shall be divided

<2673 chatsah > toward the four <0702 >arba< > winds <7307 ruwach >

of heaven <8064 shamayim >; and not to his posterity <0319

>achariyth >, nor <3808 lo> > according to his dominion <4915 moshel

> which <0834 >aher > he ruled <4910 mashal >: for his kingdom <4438

malkuwth > shall be plucked <5428 nathash > up, even for others

<0312 >acher > beside <0905 bad > those <0428 >el-leh >.

 5. And the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > shall be

strong <2388 chazaq >, and [one] of his princes <8269 sar >; and he

shall be strong <2388 chazaq > above <5921 <al > him, and have

dominion <4910 mashal >; his dominion <4474 mimshal > [shall be] a

great <7227 rab > dominion <4474 mimshal >.

6 And in the end <7093 qets > of years <8141 shaneh > they shall

join <2266 chabar > themselves together; for the king's <4428 melek

> daughter <1323 bath > of the south <5045 negeb > shall come <0935

bow> > to the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown > to

make <6213 <asah > an agreement <4339 meyshar >: but she shall not

retain <6113 <atsar > the power <3581 koach > of the arm <2220

z@rowa< >; neither <3808 lo> > shall he stand <5975 <amad >, nor his

arm <2220 z@rowa< >: but she shall be given <5414 nathan > up, and

they that brought <0935 bow> > her, and he that begat <3205 yalad >

her, and he that strengthened <2388 chazaq > her in [these] times

<6256 <eth >.

7 But out of a branch <5342 netser > of her roots <8328 sheresh >

shall [one] stand <5975 <amad > up in his estate <3653 ken >, which

shall come <0935 bow> > with an army <2428 chayil >, and shall enter

<0935 bow> > into the fortress <4581 ma<owz > of the king <4428

melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown >, and shall deal <6213 <asah >

against them, and shall prevail <2388 chazaq >:

 8 And shall also <1571 gam > carry <0935 bow> > captives <7628

sh@biy > into Egypt <4714 Mitsrayim > their gods <0430 >elohiym >,

with their princes <5257 n@ciyk >, [and] with their precious <2532

chemdah > vessels <3627 k@liy > of silver <3701 keceph > and of gold

<2091 zahab >; and he shall continue <5975 <amad > [more] years

<8141 shaneh > than the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828

tsaphown >.

9 So the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > shall come

<0935 bow> > into [his] kingdom <4438 malkuwth >, and shall return

<7725 shuwb > into <0413 >el > his own land <0127 >adamah >.

10 But his sons <1121 ben > shall be stirred <1624 garah > up, and

shall assemble <0622 >acaph > a multitude <1995 hamown > of great

<7227 rab > forces <2428 chayil >: and [one] shall certainly come

<0935 bow> >, and overflow <7857 shataph >, and pass <5674 <abar >

through: then shall he return <7725 shuwb >, and be stirred <1624

garah > up, [even] to his fortress <4581 ma<owz >.

11 And the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > shall be

moved with choler <4843 marar >, and shall come <3318 yatsa> > forth

<3318 yatsa> > and fight <3898 lacham > with him, [even] with the

king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown >: and he shall set

<5975 <amad > forth <5975 <amad > a great <7227 rab > multitude

<1995 hamown >; but the multitude <1995 hamown > shall be given

<5414 nathan > into his hand <3027 yad >.

12 [And] when he hath taken <5375 nasa> > away the multitude <1995

hamown >, his heart <3824 lebab > shall be lifted <7311 ruwm > up;

and he shall cast <5307 naphal > down <5307 naphal > [many] ten

<7239 ribbow > thousands <7239 ribbow >: but he shall not be

strengthened <5810 <azaz > [by it].

13 For the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown > shall

return <7725 shuwb >, and shall set <5975 <amad > forth a multitude

<1995 hamown > greater <7227 rab > than <4480 min > the former <7223

ri>shown >, and shall certainly come <0935 bow> > after <7093 qets >

certain <6256 <eth > years <8141 shaneh > with a great <1419 gadowl

> army <2428 chayil > and with much riches <7399 r@kuwsh >.

 14 And in those <1992 hem > times <6256 <eth > there shall many

<7227 rab > stand <5975 <amad > up against <5921 <al > the king

<4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb >: also the robbers <6530

p@riyts > of thy people <5971 <am > shall exalt <5375 nasa> >

themselves to establish <5975 <amad > the vision <2377 chazown >;

but they shall fall <3782 kashal >.

15 So the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown > shall

come <0935 bow> >, and cast <8210 shaphak > up a mount <5550 col@lah

>, and take <3920 lakad > the most fenced <4013 mibtsar > cities

<5892 <iyr >: and the arms <2220 z@rowa< > of the south <5045 negeb

> shall not withstand <5975 <amad >, neither <0369 >ayin > his

chosen <4005 mibchar > people <5971 <am >, neither <0369 >ayin >

[shall there be any] strength <3581 koach > to withstand <5975 <amad

>.

 16 But he that cometh <0935 bow> > against <0413 >el > him shall do

<6213 <asah > according to his own <7522 ratsown > will <7522

ratsown >, and none <0369 >ayin > shall stand <5975 <amad > before

<6440 paniym > him: and he shall stand <5975 <amad > in the glorious

<6643 ts@biy > land <0776 >erets >, which by his hand <3027 yad >

shall be consumed <3615 kalah >.

17 He shall also set <7760 suwm > his face <6440 paniym > to enter

<0935 bow> > with the strength <8633 toqeph > of his whole <3605 kol

> kingdom <4438 malkuwth >, and upright <3477 yashar > ones with

him; thus shall he do <6213 <asah >: and he shall give <5414 nathan

> him the daughter <1323 bath > of women <0802 >ishshah >,

corrupting <7843 shachath > her: but she shall not stand <5975 <amad

> [on his side], neither <3808 lo> > be for him.

18 After this shall he turn <7725 shuwb > his face <6440 paniym >

unto the isles <0339 >iy >, and shall take <3920 lakad > many <7227

rab >: but a prince <7101 qatsiyn > for his own behalf shall cause

the reproach <2781 cherpah > offered by him to cease <7673 shabath

>; without <1115 biltiy > his own reproach <2781 cherpah > he shall

cause [it] to turn <7725 shuwb > upon him.

19 Then he shall turn <7725 shuwb > his face <6440 paniym > toward

the fort <4581 ma<owz > of his own land <0776 >erets >: but he shall

stumble <3782 kashal > and fall <5307 naphal >, and not be found

<4672 matsa> >.

 20 Then shall stand <5975 <amad > up in his estate <3653 ken > a

raiser <5674 <abar > of taxes <5065 nagas > [in] the glory <1925

heder > of the kingdom <4438 malkuwth >: but within few <0259 >echad

> days <3117 yowm > he shall be destroyed <7665 shabar >, neither

<3808 lo> > in anger <0639 >aph >, nor <3808 lo> > in battle <4421

milchamah >.

 21. And in his estate <3653 ken > shall stand <5975 <amad > up a

vile <0959 bazah > person, to whom <5921 <al > they shall not give

<5414 nathan > the honour <1935 howd > of the kingdom <4438 malkuwth

>: but he shall come <0935 bow> > in peaceably <7962 shalvah >, and

obtain <2388 chazaq > the kingdom <4438 malkuwth > by flatteries

<2519 chalaqlaqqah >.

 22 And with the arms <2220 z@rowa< > of a flood <7858 sheteph >

shall they be overflown <7857 shataph > from before <6440 paniym >

him, and shall be broken <7665 shabar >; yea <1571 gam >, also <1571

gam > the prince <5057 nagiyd > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth >.

23 And after the league <2266 chabar > [made] with him he shall

work <6213 <asah > deceitfully <4820 mirmah >: for he shall come

<5927 <alah > up, and shall become <6105 <atsam > strong <6105

<atsam > with a small <4592 m@<at > people <1471 gowy >.

 24 He shall enter <0935 bow> > peaceably <7962 shalvah > even upon

the fattest <4924 mashman > places of the province <4082 m@diynah >;

and he shall do <6213 <asah > [that] which <0834 >aher > his fathers

<1> have not done <6213 <asah >, nor his fathers <1>' fathers <1>;

he shall scatter <0967 bazar > among them the prey <0961 bizzah >,

and spoil <7998 shalal >, and riches <7399 r@kuwsh >: [yea], and he

shall forecast <2803 chashab > his devices <4284 machashabah >

against <5921 <al > the strong <4013 mibtsar > holds <4013 mibtsar

>, even for a time <6256 <eth >.

25 And he shall stir <5782 <uwr > up his power <3581 koach > and

his courage <3824 lebab > against <5921 <al > the king <4428 melek >

of the south <5045 negeb > with a great <1419 gadowl > army <2428

chayil >; and the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb >

shall be stirred <1624 garah > up to battle <4421 milchamah > with a

very great <1419 gadowl > and mighty <6099 <atsuwm > army <2428

chayil >; but he shall not stand <5975 <amad >: for they shall

forecast <2803 chashab > devices <4284 machashabah > against <5921

<al > him.

 26 Yea, they that feed <0398 >akal > of the portion <6598 pathbag >

of his meat <6598 pathbag > shall destroy <7665 shabar > him, and

his army <2428 chayil > shall overflow <7857 shataph >: and many

<7227 rab > shall fall <5307 naphal > down slain <2491 chalal >.

 27 And both <8147 sh@nayim > these kings <4428 melek >' hearts

<3824 lebab > [shall be] to do mischief <4827 mera< >, and they

shall speak <1696 dabar > lies <3576 kazab > at <5921 <al > one

<0259 >echad > table <7979 shulchan >; but it shall not prosper

<6743 tsalach >: for yet <5750 <owd > the end <7093 qets > [shall

be] at the time appointed <4150 mow<ed >.

 28 Then shall he return <7725 shuwb > into his land <0776 >erets >

with great <1419 gadowl > riches <7399 r@kuwsh >; and his heart

<3824 lebab > [shall be] against <5921 <al > the holy <6944 qodesh >

covenant <1285 b@riyth >; and he shall do <6213 <asah > [exploits],

and return <7725 shuwb > to his own land <0776 >erets >.

29 At the time appointed <4150 mow<ed > he shall return <7725 shuwb

>, and come <0935 bow> > toward the south <5045 negeb >; but it

shall not be as the former <7223 ri>shown >, or as the latter <0314

>acharown >.

30 For the ships <6716 tsiy > of Chittim <3794 Kittiy > shall come

<0935 bow> > against him: therefore he shall be grieved <3512 ka>ah

>, and return <7725 shuwb >, and have indignation <2194 za<am >

against <5921 <al > the holy <6944 qodesh > covenant <1285 b@riyth

>: so shall he do <6213 <asah >; he shall even return <7725 shuwb >,

and have intelligence <0995 biyn > with them that forsake <5800

<azab > the holy <6944 qodesh > covenant <1285 b@riyth >.

 31 And arms <2220 z@rowa< > shall stand <5975 <amad > on his part

<2506 cheleq >, and they shall pollute <2490 chalal > the sanctuary

<4720 miqdash > of strength <4581 ma<owz >, and shall take <5493

cuwr > away <5493 cuwr > the daily <8548 tamiyd > [sacrifice], and

they shall place <5414 nathan > the abomination <8251 shiqquwts >

that maketh desolate <8074 shamem >.

32 And such as do wickedly <7561 rasha< > against the covenant

<1285 b@riyth > shall he corrupt <2610 chaneph > by flatteries <2514

chalaqqah >: but the people <5971 <am > that do know <3045 yada< >

their God <0430 >elohiym > shall be strong <2388 chazaq >, and do

<6213 <asah > [exploits].

33 And they that understand <7919 sakal > among the people <5971

<am > shall instruct <0995 biyn > many <7227 rab >: yet they shall

fall <3782 kashal > by the sword <2719 chereb >, and by flame <3852

lehabah >, by captivity <7628 sh@biy >, and by spoil <0961 bizzah >,

[many] days <3117 yowm >.

34 Now when they shall fall <3782 kashal >, they shall be holpen

<5826 <azar > with a little <4592 m@<at > help <5828 <ezer >: but

many <7227 rab > shall cleave <3867 lavah > to them with flatteries

<2519 chalaqlaqqah >.

35 And [some] of them of understanding <7919 sakal > shall fall

<3782 kashal >, to try <6884 tsaraph > them, and to purge <1305

barar >, and to make [them] white <3835 laban >, [even] to the time

<6256 <eth > of the end <7093 qets >: because [it is] yet <5750 <owd

> for a time appointed <4150 mow<ed >.

 36 And the king <4428 melek > shall do <6213 <asah > according to

his will <7522 ratsown >; and he shall exalt <7311 ruwm > himself,

and magnify <1431 gadal > himself above <5921 <al > every <3605 kol

> god <0410 >el >, and shall speak <1696 dabar > marvellous <6381

pala> > things against <5921 <al > the God <0410 >el > of gods <0410

>el >, and shall prosper <6743 tsalach > till <5704 <ad > the

indignation <2195 za<am > be accomplished <3615 kalah >: for that

that is determined <2782 charats > shall be done <6213 <asah >.

 37 Neither <3808 lo> > shall he regard <0995 biyn > the God <0430

>elohiym > of his fathers <1>, nor the desire <2532 chemdah > of

women <0802 >ishshah >, nor <3808 lo> > regard <0995 biyn > any

<3605 kol > god <0433 >elowahh >: for he shall magnify <1431 gadal >

himself above <5921 <al > all <3605 kol >.

38 But in his estate <3653 ken > shall he honour <3513 kabad > the

God <0433 >elowahh > of forces <4581 ma<owz >: and a god <0433

>elowahh > whom <0834 >aher > his fathers <1> knew <3045 yada< > not

shall he honour <3513 kabad > with gold <2091 zahab >, and silver

<3701 keceph >, and with precious <3368 yaqar > stones <68>, and

pleasant <2530 chamad > things.

 39 Thus shall he do <6213 <asah > in the most <4581 ma<owz > strong

<4581 ma<owz > holds <4013 mibtsar > with a strange <5236 nekar >

god <0433 >elowahh >, whom <0834 >aher > he shall acknowledge <5234

nakar > [and] increase <7235 rabah > with glory <3519 kabowd >: and

he shall cause them to rule <4910 mashal > over many <7227 rab >,

and shall divide <2505 chalaq > the land <0127 >adamah > for gain

<4242 m@chiyr >.

40 And at the time <6256 <eth > of the end <7093 qets > shall the

king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > push <5055 nagach > at

him: and the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown > shall

come <8175 sa<ar > against <5921 <al > him like a whirlwind <8175

sa<ar >, with chariots <7393 rekeb >, and with horsemen <6571 parash

>, and with many <7227 rab > ships <0591 >oniyah >; and he shall

enter <0935 bow> > into the countries <0776 >erets >, and shall

overflow <7857 shataph > and pass <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar >.

 41 He shall enter <0935 bow> > also into the glorious <6643 ts@biy

> land <0776 >erets >, and many <7227 rab > [countries] shall be

overthrown <3782 kashal >: but these <0428 >el-leh > shall escape

<4422 malat > out of his hand <3027 yad >, [even] Edom <0123 >Edom

>, and Moab <4124 Mow>ab >, and the chief <7225 re>shiyth > of the

children <1121 ben > of Ammon <5983 <Ammown >.

42 He shall stretch <7971 shalach > forth his hand <3027 yad > also

upon the countries <0776 >erets >: and the land <0776 >erets > of

Egypt <4714 Mitsrayim > shall not escape <6413 p@leytah >.

43 But he shall have power <4910 mashal > over the treasures <4362

mikman > of gold <2091 zahab > and of silver <3701 keceph >, and

over all <3605 kol > the precious <2530 chamad > things of Egypt

<4714 Mitsrayim >: and the Libyans <3864 Luwbiy > and the Ethiopians

<3569 Kuwshiy > [shall be] at his steps <4703 mits<ad >.

 44 But tidings <8052 sh@muw<ah > out of the east <4217 mizrach >

and out of the north <6828 tsaphown > shall trouble <0926 bahal >

him: therefore he shall go <3318 yatsa> > forth <3318 yatsa> > with

great <1419 gadowl > fury <2534 chemah > to destroy <8045 shamad >,

and utterly to make away <2763 charam > many <7227 rab >.

 45 And he shall plant <5193 nata< > the tabernacles <0168 >ohel >

of his palace <0643 >appeden > between <0996 beyn > the seas <3220

yam > in the glorious <6643 ts@biy > holy <6944 qodesh > mountain

<2022 har >; yet he shall come <0935 bow> > to his end <7093 qets >,

and none <0369 >ayin > shall help <5826 <azar > him.

Daniel 12

 1. And at that time <6256 <eth > shall Michael <4317 Miyka>el >

stand <5975 <amad > up, the great <1419 gadowl > prince <8269 sar >

which standeth <5975 <amad > for the children <1121 ben > of thy

people <5971 <am >: and there shall be a time <6256 <eth > of

trouble <6869 tsarah >, such <0834 >aher > as never <3808 lo> > was

since there was a nation <1471 gowy > [even] to that same <1931 huw>

> time <6256 <eth >: and at that time <6256 <eth > thy people <5971

<am > shall be delivered <4422 malat >, every <3605 kol > one that

shall be found <4672 matsa> > written <3789 kathab > in the book

<5612 cepher >.

2 And many <7227 rab > of them that sleep <3463 yashen > in the

dust <6083 <aphar > of the earth <0127 >adamah > shall awake <6974

quwts >, some <0428 >el-leh > to everlasting <5769 <owlam > life

<2416 chay >, and some <0428 >el-leh > to shame <2781 cherpah >

[and] everlasting <5769 <owlam > contempt <1860 d@ra>own >.

3 And they that be wise <7919 sakal > shall shine <2094 zahar > as

the brightness <2096 zohar > of the firmament <7549 raqiya< >; and

they that turn many <7227 rab > to righteousness <6663 tsadaq > as

the stars <3556 kowkab > for ever <5769 <owlam > and ever <5703 <ad

>.

 4 But thou, O Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, shut <5640 catham > up the

words <1697 dabar >, and seal <2856 chatham > the book <5612 cepher

>, [even] to the time <6256 <eth > of the end <7093 qets >: many

<7227 rab > shall run <7751 shuwt > to and fro <7751 shuwt >, and

knowledge <1847 da<ath > shall be increased <7235 rabah >.

 5. Then I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > looked <7200 ra>ah >, and, behold

<2009 hinneh >, there stood <5975 <amad > other <0312 >acher > two

<8147 sh@nayim >, the one <0259 >echad > on this <2008 hennah > side

of the bank <8193 saphah > of the river <2975 y@<or >, and the other

<0259 >echad > on that side of the bank <8193 saphah > of the river

<2975 y@<or >.

 6 And [one] said <0559 >amar > to the man <0376 >iysh > clothed

<3847 labash > in linen <0906 bad >, which <0834 >aher > [was] upon

the waters <4325 mayim > of the river <2975 y@<or >, How <5704 <ad >

long <5704 <ad > [shall it be to] the end <7093 qets > of these

wonders <6382 pele> >?

 7 And I heard <8085 shama< > the man <0376 >iysh > clothed <3847

labash > in linen <0906 bad >, which <0834 >aher > [was] upon the

waters <4325 mayim > of the river <2975 y@<or >, when he held <7311

ruwm > up his right <3225 yamiyn > hand <3225 yamiyn > and his left

<8040 s@mo>wl > hand <8040 s@mo>wl > unto heaven <8064 shamayim >,

and sware <7650 shaba< > by him that liveth <2416 chay > for ever

<5769 <owlam > that [it shall be] for a time <4150 mow<ed >, times

<4150 mow<ed >, and an half <2677 chetsiy >; and when he shall have

accomplished <3615 kalah > to scatter <5310 naphats > the power

<3027 yad > of the holy <6944 qodesh > people <5971 <am >, all <3605

kol > these <0428 >el-leh > [things] shall be finished <3615 kalah

>.

 8 And I heard <8085 shama< >, but I understood <0995 biyn > not:

then said <0559 >amar > I, O my Lord <0113 >adown >, what <4100 mah

> [shall be] the end <0319 >achariyth > of these <0428 >el-leh >

[things]?

 9 And he said <0559 >amar >, Go <3212 yalak > thy way, Daniel <1840

Daniye>l >: for the words <1697 dabar > [are] closed <5640 catham >

up and sealed <2856 chatham > till <5704 <ad > the time <6256 <eth >

of the end <7093 qets >.

10 Many <7227 rab > shall be purified <1305 barar >, and made white

<3835 laban >, and tried <6884 tsaraph >; but the wicked <7563

rasha< > shall do wickedly <7561 rasha< >: and none <3808 lo> > of

the wicked <7563 rasha< > shall understand <0995 biyn >; but the

wise <7919 sakal > shall understand <0995 biyn >.

 11 And from the time <6256 <eth > [that] the daily <8548 tamiyd >

[sacrifice] shall be taken <5493 cuwr > away <5493 cuwr >, and the

abomination <8251 shiqquwts > that maketh desolate <8074 shamem >

set <5414 nathan > up, [there shall be] a thousand <0505 >eleph >

two hundred <3967 me>ah > and ninety <8673 tish<iym > days <3117

yowm >.

 12 Blessed <0835 >esher > [is] he that waiteth <2442 chakah >, and

cometh <5060 naga< > to the thousand <0505 >eleph > three <7969

shalowsh > hundred <3967 me>ah > and five <2568 chamesh > and thirty

<7970 sh@lowshiym > days <3117 yowm >.

13 But go <3212 yalak > thou thy way <1870 derek > till the end

<7093 qets > [be]: for thou shalt rest <5117 nuwach >, and stand

<5975 <amad > in thy lot <1486 gowral > at the end <7093 qets > of

the days <3117 yowm >.
