Daniel 3
3:1 Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the king <G 4430> made <G 5648> an image
<G 6755> of gold <G 1722>, whose <G 1768> height <G 7314> [was]
threescore <G 8361> cubits <G 0521>, [and] the breadth <G 6613> thereof
six <G 8353> cubits <G 0521>: he set <G 6966> it up in the plain <G 1236>
of Dura <G 1757>, in the province <G 4083> of Babylon <G 0895>.
3:2 Then Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the king <G 4430> sent <G 7972> to
gather <G 3673> together the princes <G 0324>, the governors <G 5461>,
and the captains <G 6347>, the judges <G 0148>, the treasurers
<G 1411>, the counsellors <G 1884>, the sheriffs <G 8614>, and all
<G 3606> the rulers <G 7984> of the provinces <G 4082>, to come <G 0858>
to the dedication <G 2597> of the image <G 6755> which <G 1768>
Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the king <G 4430> had set <G 6966> up.
3:3 Then <G 0116> the princes <G 0324>, the governors <G 5461>, and
captains <G 6347>, the judges <G 0148>, the treasurers <G 1411>, the
counsellors <G 1884>, the sheriffs <G 8614>, and all <G 3606> the
rulers <G 7984> of the provinces <G 4082>, were gathered <G 3673>
together unto the dedication <G 2597> of the image <G 6755> that
Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the king <G 4430> had set <G 6966> up; and they
stood <G 6966> before <G 6903> the image <G 6755> that Nebuchadnezzar
<G 5020> had set <G 6966> up.
3:4 Then an herald <G 3744> cried <G 7123> aloud <G 2429>, To you it is
commanded <G 0560>, O people <G 5972>, nations <G 0524>, and languages
<G 3961>,
3:5 [That] at what <G 1768> time <G 5732> ye hear <G 8086> the sound
<G 7032> of the cornet <G 7162>, flute <G 4953>, harp <G 7030>, sackbut
<G 5443>, psaltery <G 6460>, dulcimer <G 5481>, and all <G 3606> kinds
<G 2177> of musick <G 2170>, ye fall <G 5308> down and worship <G 5457>
the golden <G 1722> image <G 6755> that Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the
king <G 4430> hath set <G 6966> up:
3:6 And whoso falleth <G 5308> not down and worshippeth <G 5457>
shall the same hour <G 8160> be cast <G 7412> into the midst <G 1459>
of a burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace <G 0861>.
3:7 Therefore at that time <G 2166>, when <G 1768> all <G 3606> the
people <G 5972> heard <G 8086> the sound <G 7032> of the cornet <G 7162>,
flute <G 4953>, harp <G 7030>, sackbut <G 5443>, psaltery <G 6460>, and
all <G 3606> kinds <G 2177> of musick <G 2170>, all <G 3606> the people
<G 5972>, the nations <G 0524>, and the languages <G 3961>, fell <G 5308>
down [and] worshipped <G 5457> the golden <G 1722> image <G 6755> that
Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the king <G 4430> had set <G 6966> up.
3:8 Wherefore at that time <G 2166> certain <G 1400> Chaldeans
<G 3779> came <G 7127> near <G 7127>, and accused <G 7170> the Jews
<G 3064>.
3:9 They spake <G 6032> and said <G 0560> to the king <G 4430>
Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020>, O king <G 4430>, live <G 2418> for ever
<G 5957>.
3:10 Thou, O king <G 4430>, hast made <G 7761> a decree <G 2942>, that
every <G 3606> man <G 0606> that shall hear <G 8086> the sound <G 7032>
of the cornet <G 7162>, flute <G 4953>, harp <G 7030>, sackbut <G 5443>,
psaltery <G 6460>, and dulcimer <G 5481>, and all <G 3606> kinds <G 2177>
of musick <G 2170>, shall fall <G 5308> down and worship <G 5457> the
golden <G 1722> image <G 6755>:
3:11 And whoso falleth <G 5308> not down and worshippeth <G 5457>,
[that] he should be cast <G 7412> into the midst <G 1459> of a
burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace <G 0861>.
3:12 There are certain <G 1400> Jews <G 3064> whom <G 3487> thou hast
set <G 4483> over <G 5921> the affairs <G 5673> of the province <G 4083>
of Babylon <G 0895>, Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego
<G 5665>; these <G 0479> men <G 1400>, O king <G 4430>, have not regarded
thee: they serve <G 6399> not thy gods <G 0426>, nor <G 3809> worship
<G 5457> the golden <G 1722> image <G 6755> which <G 1768> thou hast set
<G 6966> up.
3:13 Then <G 0116> Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> in [his] rage <G 7266> and
fury <G 2528> commanded <G 0560> to bring <G 0858> Shadrach <G 7715>,
Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>. Then <G 0116> they brought
<G 0858> these <G 0479> men <G 1400> before <G 6925> the king <G 4430>.
3:14 Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> spake <G 6032> and said <G 0560> unto
them, [Is it] true <G 6656>, O Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach <G 4336>, and
Abednego <G 5665>, do not ye serve <G 6399> my gods <G 0426>, nor
<G 3809> worship <G 5457> the golden <G 1722> image <G 6755> which <G 1768>
I have set <G 6966> up?
3:15 Now <G 3705> if <G 2006> ye be ready <G 6263> that at what <G 1768>
time <G 5732> ye hear <G 8086> the sound <G 7032> of the cornet <G 7162>,
flute <G 4953>, harp <G 7030>, sackbut <G 5443>, psaltery <G 6460>, and
dulcimer <G 5481>, and all <G 3606> kinds <G 2177> of musick <G 2170>, ye
fall <G 5308> down and worship <G 5457> the image <G 6755> which <G 1768>
I have made <G 5648>; [well]: but if <G 2006> ye worship <G 5457> not,
ye shall be cast <G 7412> the same hour <G 8160> into the midst
<G 1459> of a burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace <G 0861>; and who
<G 4479> [is] that God <G 0426> that shall deliver <G 7804> you out of
my hands <G 3028>?
3:16 Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>,
answered <G 6032> and said <G 0560> to the king <G 4430>, O
Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020>, we [are] not careful <G 2818> to answer
<G 8421> thee in this <G 1836> matter <G 6600>.
3:17 If <G 2006> it be [so], our God <G 0426> whom <G 1768> we serve
<G 6399> is able <G 3202> to deliver <G 7804> us from the burning
<G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace <G 0861>, and he will deliver <G 7804>
[us] out of thine hand <G 3028>, O king <G 4430>.
3:18 But if not, be it known <G 3046> unto thee, O king <G 4430>,
that we will not serve <G 6399> thy gods <G 0426>, nor <G 3809> worship
<G 5457> the golden <G 1722> image <G 6755> which <G 1768> thou hast set
<G 6966> up.
3:19 Then <G 0116> was Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> full <G 4391> of fury
<G 2528>, and the form <G 6755> of his visage <G 0600> was changed
<G 8133> against <G 5922> Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach <G 4336>, and
Abednego <G 5665>: [therefore] he spake <G 6032>, and commanded
<G 0560> that they should heat <G 0228> the furnace <G 0861> one <G 2298>
seven <G 7655> times more <G 5922> than <G 1768> it was wont <G 2370> to
be heated <G 0228>.
3:20 And he commanded <G 0560> the most <G 2429> mighty <G 1401> men
<G 1400> that [were] in his army <G 2429> to bind <G 3729> Shadrach
<G 7715>, Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, [and] to cast <G 7412>
[them] into the burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace <G 0861>.
3:21 Then <G 0116> these <G 0479> men <G 1400> were bound <G 3729> in
their coats <G 5622>, their hosen <G 6361>, and their hats <G 3737>,
and their [other] garments <G 3831>, and were cast <G 7412> into the
midst <G 1459> of the burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace <G 0861>.
3:22 Therefore because the king's <G 4430> commandment <G 4406> was
urgent <G 2685>, and the furnace <G 0861> exceeding <G 2493> hot
<G 0228>, the flame <G 7631> of the fire <G 5135> slew <G 6992> those
<G 0479> men <G 1400> that took <G 5267> up Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach
<G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>.
3:23 And these <G 0479> three <G 8532> men <G 1400>, Shadrach <G 7715>,
Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, fell <G 5308> down bound
<G 3729> into the midst <G 1459> of the burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135>
furnace <G 0861>.
3:24 Then <G 0116> Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> the king <G 4430> was
astonied <G 8429>, and rose <G 6965> up in haste <G 0927>, [and] spake
<G 6032>, and said <G 0560> unto his counsellors <G 1907>, Did not we
cast <G 7412> three <G 8532> men <G 1400> bound <G 3729> into the midst
<G 1459> of the fire <G 5135>? They answered <G 6032> and said <G 0560>
unto the king <G 4430>, True <G 3330>, O king <G 4430>.
3:25 He answered <G 6032> and said <G 0560>, Lo <G 1888>, I see <G 2370>
four <G 0703> men <G 1400> loose <G 8271>, walking <G 1981> in the midst
<G 1459> of the fire <G 5135>, and they have <G 0383> no <G 3809> hurt
<G 2257>; and the form <G 7299> of the fourth <G 7244> is like <G 1821>
the Son <G 1247> of God <G 0426>.
3:26 Then <G 0116> Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> came <G 7127> near <G 7127> to
the mouth <G 8651> of the burning <G 3345> fiery <G 5135> furnace
<G 0861>, [and] spake <G 6032>, and said <G 0560>, Shadrach <G 7715>,
Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, ye servants <G 5649> of the
most <G 5943> high <G 5943> God <G 0426>, come <G 5312> forth <G 5312>, and
come <G 0858> [hither]. Then <G 0116> Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach
<G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, came <G 5312> forth <G 5312> of the
midst <G 1459> of the fire <G 5135>.
3:27 And the princes <G 0324>, governors <G 5461>, and captains
<G 6347>, and the king's <G 4430> counsellors <G 1907>, being gathered
<G 3673> together, saw <G 2370> these <G 0479> men <G 1400>, upon whose
<G 1768> bodies <G 1655> the fire <G 5135> had no <G 3809> power <G 7981>,
nor <G 3809> was an hair <G 8177> of their head <G 7217> singed <G 2761>,
neither <G 3809> were their coats <G 5622> changed <G 8133>, nor <G 3809>
the smell <G 7382> of fire <G 5135> had passed <G 5709> on them.
3:28 [Then] Nebuchadnezzar <G 5020> spake <G 6032>, and said <G 0560>,
Blessed <G 1289> [be] the God <G 0426> of Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach
<G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, who <G 1768> hath sent <G 7972> his
angel <G 4398>, and delivered <G 7804> his servants <G 5649> that
trusted <G 7365> in him, and have changed <G 8133> the king's <G 4430>
word <G 4406>, and yielded <G 3052> their bodies <G 1655>, that they
might not serve <G 6399> nor <G 3809> worship <G 5457> any <G 3606> god
<G 0426>, except <G 3861> their own God <G 0426>.
3:29 Therefore I make <G 7761> a decree <G 2942>, That every <G 3606>
people <G 5972>, nation <G 0524>, and language <G 3961>, which <G 1768>
speak <G 0560> any thing amiss <G 7955> against <G 5922> the God <G 0426>
of Shadrach <G 7715>, Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, shall be
cut <G 5648> in pieces <G 1917>, and their houses <G 1005> shall be
made <G 7739> a dunghill <G 5122>: because there is no <G 3809> other
<G 0321> God <G 0426> that can <G 3202> deliver <G 5338> after <G 1863>
this <G 1836> sort.
3:30 Then <G 0116> the king <G 4430> promoted <G 6744> Shadrach <G 7715>,
Meshach <G 4336>, and Abednego <G 5665>, in the province <G 4082> of
Babylon <G 0895>.
