:5 There shall not any man <0376 >iysh > be able <3320 yatsab > to stand <3320 yatsab > before <6440 paniym > thee all <3605 kol > the days <3117 yowm > of thy life <2416 chay >:as I was with Moses <4872 Mosheh >, [so] I will be with thee:I will not fail <7503 raphah > thee, nor <3808 lo> > forsake <5800 <azab > thee.
:6 Be strong <2388 chazaq > and of a good courage <0553 >amats >:for unto this <2088 zeh > people <5971 <am > shalt thou divide for an inheritance <5157 nachal > the land <0776 >erets >, which <0834 >aher > I sware <7650 shaba< > unto their fathers <1> to give <5414 nathan > them.

:11 Pass <5674 <abar > through <7130 qereb > the host <4264 machaneh >, and command <6680 tsavah > the people <5971 <am >, saying <0559 >amar >, Prepare <3559 kuwn > you victuals <6720 tseydah >; for within <5750 <owd > three <7969 shalowsh > days <3117 yowm > ye shall pass <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar > this <2088 zeh > Jordan <3383 Yarden >, to go <0935 bow> > in to possess <3423 yarash > the land <0776 >erets >, which <0834 >aher > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > your God <0430 >elohiym > giveth <5414 nathan > you to possess <3423 yarash > it.

:13 Remember <2142 zakar > the word <1697 dabar > which <0834 >aher > Moses <4872 Mosheh > the servant <5650 <ebed > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > commanded <6680 tsavah > you, saying <0559 >amar >, The LORD <3068 Y@hovah > your God <0430 >elohiym > hath given you rest <5117 nuwach >, and hath given <5414 nathan > you this <2063 zo>th > land <0776 >erets >.

:17 According as we hearkened <8085 shama< > unto Moses <4872 Mosheh > in all <3605 kol > things, so <3651 ken > will we hearken <8085 shama< > unto thee:only <7535 raq > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > thy God <0430 >elohiym > be with thee, as he was with Moses <4872 Mosheh >.
:18 Whosoever [he be] that doth rebel <4784 marah > against thy commandment <6310 peh >, and will not hearken <8085 shama< > unto thy words <1697 dabar > in all <3605 kol > that thou commandest <6680 tsavah > him, he shall be put to death <4191 muwth >:only <7535 raq > be strong <2388 chazaq > and of a good courage <0553 >amats >.

And Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > the son <1121 ben > of Nun <5126 Nuwn > sent <7971 shalach > out of Shittim <7851 Shittiym > two <8147 sh@nayim > men <0582 >enowsh > to spy <7270 ragal > secretly <2791 cheresh >, saying <0559 >amar >, Go <3212 yalak > view <7200 ra>ah > the land <0776 >erets >, even Jericho <3405 Y@riychow >. And they went <3212 yalak >, and came <0935 bow> > into an harlot's <2181 zanah > house <1004 bayith >, named <8034 shem > Rahab <7343 Rachab >, and lodged <7901 shakab > there <8033 sham >.
:2 And it was told <0559 >amar > the king <4428 melek > of Jericho <3405 Y@riychow >, saying <0559 >amar >, Behold <2009 hinneh >, there came <0935 bow> > men <0582 >enowsh > in hither to night <3915 layil > of the children <1121 ben > of Israel <3478 Yisra>el > to search <2658 chaphar > out the country <0776 >erets >.
:3 And the king <4428 melek > of Jericho <3405 Y@riychow > sent <7971 shalach > unto Rahab <7343 Rachab >, saying <0559 >amar >, Bring <3318 yatsa> > forth <3318 yatsa> > the men <0582 >enowsh > that are come <0935 bow> > to thee, which <0834 >aher > are entered <0935 bow> > into thine house <1004 bayith >:for they be come <0935 bow> > to search <2658 chaphar > out all <3605 kol > the country <0776 >erets >.
:4 And the woman <0802 >ishshah > took <3947 laqach > the two <8147 sh@nayim > men <0582 >enowsh >, and hid <6845 tsaphan > them, and said <0559 >amar > thus <3651 ken >, There came <0935 bow> > men <0582 >enowsh > unto me, but I wist <3045 yada< > not whence <0370 >aiyn > they [were]:
:5 And it came <1961 hayah > to pass [about the time] of shutting <5462 cagar > of the gate <8179 sha<ar >, when it was dark <2822 choshek >, that the men <0582 >enowsh > went <3318 yatsa> > out:whither <0575 >an > the men <0582 >enowsh > went <1980 halak > I wot <3045 yada< > not:pursue <7291 radaph > after <0310 >achar > them quickly <4118 maher >; for ye shall overtake <5381 nasag > them.
:6 But she had brought <5927 <alah > them up to the roof <1406 gag > of the house, and hid <2934 taman > them with the stalks <6086 <ets > of flax <6593 pishteh >, which she had laid in order <6186 <arak > upon the roof <1406 gag >.
:7 And the men <0582 >enowsh > pursued <7291 radaph > after <0310 >achar > them the way <1870 derek > to Jordan <3383 Yarden > unto the fords <4569 ma<abar >:and as soon <0834 >aher > as they which <0834 >aher > pursued <7291 radaph > after <0310 >achar > them were gone <3318 yatsa> > out, they shut <5462 cagar > the gate <8179 sha<ar >.
:8. And before <2962 terem > they were laid <7901 shakab > down <7901 shakab >, she came <5927 <alah > up unto them upon the roof <1406 gag >;
:9 And she said <0559 >amar > unto the men <0582 >enowsh >, I know <3045 yada< > that the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > hath given <5414 nathan > you the land <0776 >erets >, and that your terror <0367 >eymah > is fallen <5307 naphal > upon us, and that all <3605 kol > the inhabitants <3427 yashab > of the land <0776 >erets > faint <4127 muwg > because <6440 paniym > of you.
:10 For we have heard <8085 shama< > how <0834 >aher > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > dried <3001 yabesh > up the water <4325 mayim > of the Red <5488 cuwph > sea <3220 yam > for you, when ye came <3318 yatsa> > out of Egypt <4714 Mitsrayim >; and what <0834 >aher > ye did <6213 <asah > unto the two <8147 sh@nayim > kings <4428 melek > of the Amorites <0567 >Emoriy >, that [were] on the other <5676 <eber > side <5676 <eber > Jordan <3383 Yarden >, Sihon <5511 Ciychown > and Og <5747 <Owg >, whom ye utterly destroyed <2763 charam >.
:11 And as soon as we had heard <8085 shama< > [these things], our hearts <3824 lebab > did melt <4549 macac >, neither <3808 lo> > did there remain <6965 quwm > any more <5750 <owd > courage <7307 ruwach > in any man <0376 >iysh >, because <6440 paniym > of you:for the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > your God <0430 >elohiym >, he [is] God <0430 >elohiym > in heaven <8064 shamayim > above <4605 ma<al >, and in earth <0776 >erets > beneath <8478 tachath >.
:12 Now <6258 <attah > therefore, I pray <4994 na> > you, swear <7650 shaba< > unto me by the LORD <3068 Y@hovah >, since <3588 kiy > I have shewed <6213 <asah > you kindness <2617 checed >, that ye will also <1571 gam > shew <6213 <asah > kindness <2617 checed > unto my father's <1> house <1004 bayith >, and give <5414 nathan > me a true <0571 >emeth > token <0226 >owth >:
:13 And [that] ye will save <2421 chayah > alive <2421 chayah > my father <1>, and my mother <0517 >em >, and my brethren <0251 >ach >, and my sisters <0269 >achowth >, and all <3605 kol > that they have, and deliver <5337 natsal > our lives <5315 nephesh > from death <4194 maveth >.
:14 And the men <0582 >enowsh > answered <0559 >amar > her, Our life <5315 nephesh > for yours, if <0518 >im > ye utter <5046 nagad > not this <2088 zeh > our business <1697 dabar >. And it shall be, when the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > hath given <5414 nathan > us the land <0776 >erets >, that we will deal <6213 <asah > kindly <2617 checed > and truly <0571 >emeth > with thee.
:15 Then she let <3381 yarad > them down <3381 yarad > by a cord <2256 chebel > through <1157 b@<ad > the window <2474 challown >:for her house <1004 bayith > [was] upon the town <7023 qiyr > wall <2346 chowmah >, and she dwelt <3427 yashab > upon the wall <2346 chowmah >.
:16 And she said <0559 >amar > unto them, Get <3212 yalak > you to the mountain <2022 har >, lest <6435 pen > the pursuers <7291 radaph > meet <6293 paga< > you; and hide <2247 chabah > yourselves there <8033 sham > three <7969 shalowsh > days <3117 yowm >, until <5704 <ad > the pursuers <7291 radaph > be returned <7725 shuwb >:and afterward <0310 >achar > may ye go <3212 yalak > your way <1870 derek >.
:17 And the men <0582 >enowsh > said <0559 >amar > unto her, We [will be] blameless <5355 naqiy > of this <2088 zeh > thine oath <7621 sh@buw<ah > which <0834 >aher > thou hast made us swear <7650 shaba< >.
:18 Behold <2009 hinneh >, [when] we come <0935 bow> > into the land <0776 >erets >, thou shalt bind <7194 qashar > this <2088 zeh > line <8615 tiqvah > of scarlet <8144 shaniy > thread <2339 chuwt > in the window <2474 challown > which <0834 >aher > thou didst let <3381 yarad > us down <3381 yarad > by:and thou shalt bring <0622 >acaph > thy father <1>, and thy mother <0517 >em >, and thy brethren <0251 >ach >, and all <3605 kol > thy father's <1> household <1004 bayith >, home <1004 bayith > unto thee.
:19 And it shall be, [that] whosoever shall go <3318 yatsa> > out of the doors <1817 deleth > of thy house <1004 bayith > into the street <2351 chuwts >, his blood <1818 dam > [shall be] upon his head <7218 ro>sh >, and we [will be] guiltless <5355 naqiy >:and whosoever shall be with thee in the house <1004 bayith >, his blood <1818 dam > [shall be] on our head <7218 ro>sh >, if <0518 >im > [any] hand <3027 yad > be upon him.
:20 And if <0518 >im > thou utter <5046 nagad > this <2088 zeh > our business <1697 dabar >, then we will be quit <5355 naqiy > of thine oath <7621 sh@buw<ah > which <0834 >aher > thou hast made us to swear <7650 shaba< >.
:21 And she said <0559 >amar >, According unto your words <1697 dabar >, so <3651 ken > [be] it. And she sent <7971 shalach > them away, and they departed <3212 yalak >:and she bound <7194 qashar > the scarlet <8144 shaniy > line <8515 T@la>ssar > in the window <2474 challown >.
:22. And they went <3212 yalak >, and came <0935 bow> > unto the mountain <2022 har >, and abode <3427 yashab > there <8033 sham > three <7969 shalowsh > days <3117 yowm >, until <5704 <ad > the pursuers <7291 radaph > were returned <7725 shuwb >:and the pursuers <7291 radaph > sought <1245 baqash > [them] throughout all <3605 kol > the way <1870 derek >, but found <4672 matsa> > [them] not.
:23 So the two <8147 sh@nayim > men <0582 >enowsh > returned <7725 shuwb >, and descended <3381 yarad > from the mountain <2022 har >, and passed <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar >, and came <0935 bow> > to Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > the son <1121 ben > of Nun <5126 Nuwn >, and told <5608 caphar > him all <3605 kol > [things] that befell <4672 matsa> > them:
:24 And they said <0559 >amar > unto Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< >, Truly <3588 kiy > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > hath delivered <5414 nathan > into our hands <3027 yad > all <3605 kol > the land <0776 >erets >; for even <1571 gam > all <3605 kol > the inhabitants <3427 yashab > of the country <0776 >erets > do faint <4127 muwg > because <6440 paniym > of us.

And Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > rose <7925 shakam > early <7925 shakam > in the morning <1242 boqer >; and they removed <5265 naca< > from Shittim <7851 Shittiym >, and came <0935 bow> > to Jordan <3383 Yarden >, he and all <3605 kol > the children <1121 ben > of Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, and lodged <3885 luwn > there <8033 sham > before <2962 terem > they passed <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar >.
:2 And it came <1961 hayah > to pass after <7097 qatseh > three <7969 shalowsh > days <3117 yowm >, that the officers <7860 shoter > went <5974 <im > through <7130 qereb > the host <4264 machaneh >;
:3 And they commanded <6680 tsavah > the people <5971 <am >, saying <0559 >amar >, When ye see <7200 ra>ah > the ark <0727 >arown > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > your God <0430 >elohiym >, and the priests <3548 kohen > the Levites <3881 Leviyiy > bearing <5375 nasa> > it, then ye shall remove <5265 naca< > from your place <4725 maqowm >, and go <1980 halak > after <0310 >achar > it.
:4 Yet <0389 >ak > there shall be a space <7350 rachowq > between <0996 beyn > you and it, about two thousand <0505 >eleph > cubits <0520 >ammah > by measure <4060 middah >:come <7126 qarab > not near <7126 qarab > unto it, that ye may know <3045 yada< > the way <1870 derek > by which <0834 >aher > ye must go <3212 yalak >:for ye have not passed <5674 <abar > [this] way <1870 derek > heretofore <8543 t@mowl >.
:5 And Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > said <0559 >amar > unto the people <5971 <am >, Sanctify <6942 qadash > yourselves:for to morrow <4279 machar > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > will do <6213 <asah > wonders <6381 pala> > among <7130 qereb > you.
:6 And Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > spake <0559 >amar > unto the priests <3548 kohen >, saying <0559 >amar >, Take <5375 nasa> > up the ark <0727 >arown > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth >, and pass <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar > before <6440 paniym > the people <5971 <am >. And they took <5375 nasa> > up the ark <0727 >arown > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth >, and went <3212 yalak > before <6440 paniym > the people <5971 <am >.

And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< >, This <2088 zeh > day <3117 yowm > will I begin <2490 chalal > to magnify <1431 gadal > thee in the sight <5869 <ayin > of all <3605 kol > Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, that they may know <3045 yada< > that, as I was with Moses <4872 Mosheh >, [so] I will be with thee.
:8 And thou shalt command <6680 tsavah > the priests <3548 kohen > that bear <5375 nasa> > the ark <0727 >arown > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth >, saying <0559 >amar >, When ye are come <0935 bow> > to the brink <7097 qatseh > of the water <4325 mayim > of Jordan <3383 Yarden >, ye shall stand <5975 <amad > still in Jordan <3383 Yarden >.
:9 And Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > said <0559 >amar > unto the children <1121 ben > of Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, Come <5066 nagash > hither <5066 nagash >, and hear <8085 shama< > the words <1697 dabar > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > your God <0430 >elohiym >.
:10 And Joshua <3091 Y@howshuwa< > said <0559 >amar >, Hereby <2063 zo>th > ye shall know <3045 yada< > that the living <2416 chay > God <0410 >el > [is] among <7130 qereb > you, and [that] he will without fail drive <3423 yarash > out from before <6440 paniym > you the Canaanites <3669 K@na<aniy >, and the Hittites <2850 Chittiy >, and the Hivites <2340 Chivviy >, and the Perizzites <6522 P@rizziy >, and the Girgashites <1622 Girgashiy >, and the Amorites <0567 >Emoriy >, and the Jebusites <2983 Yebuwciy >.
:11 Behold <2009 hinneh >, the ark <0727 >arown > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth > of the Lord <0113 >adown > of all <3605 kol > the earth <0776 >erets > passeth <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar > before <6440 paniym > you into Jordan <3383 Yarden >.
:12 Now <6258 <attah > therefore take <3947 laqach > you twelve men <0376 >iysh > out of the tribes <7626 shebet > of Israel <3478 Yisra>el >, out of every tribe <7626 shebet > a man <0376 >iysh >.
:13 And it shall come <1961 hayah > to pass, as soon as the soles <3709 kaph > of the feet <7272 regel > of the priests <3548 kohen > that bear <5375 nasa> > the ark <0727 >arown > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah >, the Lord <0113 >adown > of all <3605 kol > the earth <0776 >erets >, shall rest <5117 nuwach > in the waters <4325 mayim > of Jordan <3383 Yarden >, [that] the waters <4325 mayim > of Jordan <3383 Yarden > shall be cut <3772 karath > off [from] the waters <4325 mayim > that come <3381 yarad > down <3381 yarad > from above <4605 ma<al >; and they shall stand <5975 <amad > upon an heap <5067 ned >.

And it came <1961 hayah > to pass, when the people <5971 <am > removed <5265 naca< > from their tents <0168 >ohel >, to pass <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar > Jordan <3383 Yarden >, and the priests <3548 kohen > bearing <5375 nasa> > the ark <0727 >arown > of the covenant <1285 b@riyth > before <6440 paniym > the people <5971 <am >;
:15 And as they that bare <5375 nasa> > the ark <0727 >arown > were come <0935 bow> > unto Jordan <3383 Yarden >, and the feet <7272 regel > of the priests <3548 kohen > that bare <5375 nasa> > the ark <0727 >arown > were dipped <2881 tabal > in the brim <7097 qatseh > of the water <4325 mayim >, (for Jordan <3383 Yarden > overfloweth <4390 male> > all <3605 kol > his banks <1415 gadah > all <3605 kol > the time <3117 yowm > of harvest <7105 qatsiyr >,)
:16 That the waters <4325 mayim > which came <3381 yarad > down <3381 yarad > from above <4605 ma<al > stood <5975 <amad > [and] rose <6965 quwm > up upon an heap <5067 ned > very <3966 m@<od > far <7368 rachaq > from the city <5892 <iyr > Adam <0121 >Adam >, that [is] beside <6654 tsad > Zaretan:and those that came <3381 yarad > down <3381 yarad > toward <5921 <al > the sea <3220 yam > of the plain <6160 <arabah >, [even] the salt <4417 melach > sea <3220 yam >, failed <8552 tamam >, [and] were cut <3772 karath > off:and the people <5971 <am > passed <5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar > right against <5048 neged > Jericho <3405 Y@riychow >.
