:26 And thence <1564-ekeithen-> sailed <0636-apopleo-> to Antioch <0490-Antiocheia->, from whence <3606-hothen-> they had been recommended <3860-paradidomi-> to the grace <5485-charis-> of God <2316-theos-> for the work <2041-ergon-> which <3739-hos-> they fulfilled <4137-pleroo->.
:27 And when they were come <3854-paraginomai->, and had gathered <4863-sunago-> the church <1577-ekklesia-> together <4863-sunago->, they rehearsed <0312-anaggello-> all <3745-hosos-> that God <2316-theos-> had done <4160-poieo-> with them, and how he had opened <0455-anoigo-> the door <2374-thura-> of faith <4102-pistis-> unto the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->.
:28 And there <1563-ekei-> they abode <1304-diatribo-> long <3641-oligos-> time <5550-chronos-> with the disciples <3101-mathetes->.
:Acts 15
:1. And certain <5100-tis-> men which came <2718-katerchomai-> down <2718-katerchomai-> from Judaea <2449-Ioudaia-> taught <1321-didasko-> the brethren <0080-adephos->, [and said], Except <3362-ean me-> ye be circumcised <4059-peritemno-> after the manner <1485-ethos-> of Moses <3475-Moseus->, ye cannot <1410-dunamai-> be saved <4982-sozo->.
:2 When therefore <3767-oun-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Barnabas <0921-Barnabas-> had <1096-ginomai-> no <3756-ou-> small <3641-oligos-> dissension <4714-stasis-> and disputation <4803-suzetesis-> with them, they determined <5021-tasso-> that Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Barnabas <0921-Barnabas->, and certain <5100-tis-> other <0243-allos-> of them, should go <0305-anabaino-> up to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem-> unto the apostles <0652-apostolos-> and elders <4245-presbuteros-> about <4012-peri-> this <5127-toutou-> question <2213-zetema->.
:3 And being brought <4311-propempo-> on their way <4311-propempo-> by the church <1577-ekklesia->, they passed <1330-dierchomai-> through <1330-dierchomai-> Phenice <5403-Phoinike-> and Samaria <4540-Samareia->, declaring <1555-ekdiegeomai-> the conversion <1995-epistrophe-> of the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->: and they caused <4160-poieo-> great <3173-megas-> joy <5479-chara-> unto all <3956-pas-> the brethren <0080-adephos->.
:4 And when they were come <3854-paraginomai-> to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, they were received <0588-apodechomai-> of the church <1577-ekklesia->, and [of] the apostles <0652-apostolos-> and elders <4245-presbuteros->, and they declared <0312-anaggello-> all <3745-hosos-> things that God <2316-theos-> had done <4160-poieo-> with them.
:5 But there rose <1817-exanistemi-> up certain <5100-tis-> of the sect <0139-hairesis-> of the Pharisees <5330-Pharisaios-> which believed <4100-pisteuo->, saying <3004-lego->, That it was needful <1163-dei-> to circumcise <4059-peritemno-> them, and to command <3853-paraggello-> [them] to keep <5083-tereo-> the law <3551-nomos-> of Moses <3475-Moseus->.
:6. And the apostles <0652-apostolos-> and elders <4245-presbuteros-> came <4863-sunago-> together <4863-sunago-> for to consider <1492-eido-> of this <5127-toutou-> matter <3056-logos->.
:7 And when there had been <1096-ginomai-> much <4183-polus-> disputing <4803-suzetesis->, Peter <4074-Petros-> rose <0450-anistemi-> up, and said <2036-epo-> unto them, Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, ye know <1987-epistamai-> how that a good while <2250-hemera-> ago <0575-apo-> God <2316-theos-> made <1586-eklegomai-> choice <1586-eklegomai-> among <1722-en-> us, that the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> by my mouth <4750-stoma-> should hear <0191-akouo-> the word <3056-logos-> of the gospel <2098-euaggelion->, and believe <4100-pisteuo->.
:8 And God <2316-theos->, which knoweth <2589-kardiognostes-> the hearts <2589-kardiognostes->, bare <3140-martureo-> them witness <3140-martureo->, giving <1325-didomi-> them the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->, even <2532-kai-> as [he did] unto us;
:9 And put <1252-diakrino-> no <3762-oudeis-> difference <1252-diakrino-> between <3342-metaxu-> us and them, purifying <2511-katharizo-> their hearts <2588-kardia-> by faith <4102-pistis->.
:10 Now <3568-nun-> therefore <3767-oun-> why <5101-tis-> tempt <3985-peirazo-> ye God <2316-theos->, to put <2007-epitithemi-> a yoke <2218-zugos-> upon the neck <5137-trachelos-> of the disciples <3101-mathetes->, which <3739-hos-> neither <3777-oute-> our fathers <3962-pater-> nor <3777-oute-> we were able <2480-ischuo-> to bear <0941-bastazo->?
:11 But we believe <4100-pisteuo-> that through <1223-dia-> the grace <5485-charis-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos-> we shall be saved <4982-sozo->, even <2548-kakeinos-> as they.
:12 Then <1161-de-> all <3956-pas-> the multitude <4128-plethos-> kept <4601-sigao-> silence <4601-sigao->, and gave audience <0191-akouo-> to Barnabas <0921-Barnabas-> and Paul <3972-Paulos->, declaring <1834-exegeomai-> what <3745-hosos-> miracles <4592-semeion-> and wonders <5059-teras-> God <2316-theos-> had wrought <4160-poieo-> among <1722-en-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> by them.
:13 And after <3326-meta-> they had held <4601-sigao-> their peace <4601-sigao->, James <2385-Iakobos-> answered <0611-apokrinomai->, saying <3004-lego->, Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, hearken <0191-akouo-> unto me:
:14 Simeon <4826-Sumeon-> hath declared <1834-exegeomai-> how <2531-kathos-> God <2316-theos-> at the first <4412-proton-> did visit <1980-episkeptomai-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->, to take <2983-lambano-> out of them a people <2992-laos-> for his name <3686-onoma->.
:15 And to this <5129-toutoi-> agree <4856-sumphoneo-> the words <3056-logos-> of the prophets <4396-prophetes->; as it is written <1125-grapho->,
:16 After <3326-meta-> this <5023-tauta-> I will return <0390-anastrepho->, and will build <0456-anoikodomeo-> again <0456-anoikodomeo-> the tabernacle <4633-skene-> of David <1138-Dabid->, which <3588-ho-> is fallen <4098-pipto-> down; and I will build <0456-anoikodomeo-> again <0456-anoikodomeo-> the ruins <2679-kataskapto-> thereof <0846-autos->, and I will set <0461-anorthoo-> it up:
:17 That the residue <2645-kataloipos-> of men <0444-anthropos-> might seek <1567-ekzeteo-> after <1567-ekzeteo-> the Lord <2962-kurios->, and all <3956-pas-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->, upon whom <3739-hos-> my name <3686-onoma-> is called <1941-epikaleomai->, saith <3004-lego-> the Lord <2962-kurios->, who <3588-ho-> doeth <4160-poieo-> all <3956-pas-> these <5023-tauta-> things.
:18 Known <1110-gnostos-> unto God <2316-theos-> are all <3956-pas-> his works <2041-ergon-> from the beginning of the world <0165-aion->.
:19 Wherefore <1352-dio-> my sentence <2919-krino-> is, that we trouble <3926-parenochleo-> not them, which <3588-ho-> from among <0575-apo-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> are turned <1994-epistrepho-> to God <2316-theos->:
:20 But that we write <1989-epistello-> unto them, that they abstain <0567-apechomai-> from pollutions <0234-alisgema-> of idols <1497-eidolon->, and [from] fornication <4202-porneia->, and [from] things strangled <4156-pniktos->, and [from] blood <0129-haima->.
:21 For Moses <3475-Moseus-> of old <0744-archaios-> time <1074-genea-> hath <2192-echo-> in every <2596-kata-> city <4172-polis-> them that preach <2784-kerusso-> him, being read <0314-anaginosko-> in the synagogues <4864-sunagoge-> every <3956-pas-> sabbath <4521-sabbaton-> day.
:22. Then <5119-tote-> pleased <1380-dokeo-> it the apostles <0652-apostolos-> and elders <4245-presbuteros->, with the whole <3650-holos-> church <1577-ekklesia->, to send <3992-pempo-> chosen <1586-eklegomai-> men <0435-aner-> of their own company to Antioch <0490-Antiocheia-> with Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Barnabas <0921-Barnabas->; [namely], Judas <2455-Ioudas-> surnamed <1941-epikaleomai-> Barsabas <0923-Barsabas->, and Silas <4609-Silas->, chief <2233-hegeomai-> men <0435-aner-> among <1722-en-> the brethren <0080-adephos->:
:23 And they wrote <1125-grapho-> [letters] by them after this <3592-hode-> manner <3592-hode->; The apostles <0652-apostolos-> and elders <4245-presbuteros-> and brethren <0080-adephos-> [send] greeting <5463-chairo-> unto the brethren <0080-adephos-> which <3588-ho-> are of the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> in Antioch <0490-Antiocheia-> and Syria <4947-Suria-> and Cilicia <2791-Kilikia->:
:24 Forasmuch <1894-epeide-> as we have heard <0191-akouo->, that certain <5100-tis-> which went <1831-exerchomai-> out from us have troubled <5015-tarasso-> you with words <3056-logos->, subverting <0384-anaskeuazo-> your <5216-humon-> souls <5590-psuche->, saying <3004-lego->, [Ye must] be circumcised <4059-peritemno->, and keep <5083-tereo-> the law <3551-nomos->: to whom <3739-hos-> we gave <1291-diastellomai-> no <3756-ou-> [such] commandment <1291-diastellomai->:
:25 It seemed <1380-dokeo-> good unto us, being assembled <1096-ginomai-> with one <3661-homothumadon-> accord <3661-homothumadon->, to send <3992-pempo-> chosen <1586-eklegomai-> men <0435-aner-> unto you with our beloved <0027-agapetos-> Barnabas <0921-Barnabas-> and Paul <3972-Paulos->,
:26 Men <0444-anthropos-> that have hazarded <3860-paradidomi-> their lives <5590-psuche-> for the name <3686-onoma-> of our Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos->.
:27 We have sent <0649-apostello-> therefore <3767-oun-> Judas <2455-Ioudas-> and Silas <4609-Silas->, who <0846-autos-> shall also <2532-kai-> tell <0518-apaggello-> [you] the same <0846-autos-> things by mouth <3056-logos->.
:28 For it seemed <1380-dokeo-> good to the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->, and to us, to lay <2007-epitithemi-> upon you no <3367-medeis-> greater <4119-pleion-> burden <0922-baros-> than <4133-plen-> these <5130-touton-> necessary <1876-epanagkes-> things;
:29 That ye abstain <0567-apechomai-> from meats offered <1494-eidolothuton-> to idols <1494-eidolothuton->, and from blood <0129-haima->, and from things strangled <4156-pniktos->, and from fornication <4202-porneia->: from which <3739-hos-> if ye keep <1301-diatereo-> yourselves <1438-heautou->, ye shall do <4238-prasso-> well <2095-eu->. Fare <4517-rhonnumi-> ye well <2095-eu->.
:30 So <3767-oun-> when they were dismissed <0630-apoluo->, they came <2064-erchomai-> to Antioch <0490-Antiocheia->: and when they had gathered <4863-sunago-> the multitude <4128-plethos-> together <4863-sunago->, they delivered <1929-epididomi-> the epistle <1992-epistole->:
:31 [Which] when they had read <0314-anaginosko->, they rejoiced <5463-chairo-> for the consolation <3874-paraklesis->.
:32 And Judas <2455-Ioudas-> and Silas <4609-Silas->, being <5607-on-> prophets <4396-prophetes-> also <2532-kai-> themselves <0846-autos->, exhorted <3870-parakaleo-> the brethren <0080-adephos-> with many <4183-polus-> words <3056-logos->, and confirmed <1991-episterizo-> [them].
:33 And after they had tarried <4160-poieo-> [there] a space <5550-chronos->, they were let <0630-apoluo-> go <0630-apoluo-> in peace <1515-eirene-> from the brethren <0080-adephos-> unto the apostles.
:34 Notwithstanding it pleased <1380-dokeo-> Silas <4609-Silas-> to abide <1961-epimeno-> there <0847-autou-> still.
:35 Paul <3972-Paulos-> also <1161-de-> and Barnabas <0921-Barnabas-> continued <1304-diatribo-> in Antioch <0490-Antiocheia->, teaching <1321-didasko-> and preaching <2097-euaggelizo-> the word <3056-logos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->, with many <4183-polus-> others <2087-heteros-> also <2532-kai->.
:36. And some <5100-tis-> days <2250-hemera-> after <3326-meta-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <2036-epo-> unto Barnabas <0921-Barnabas->, Let us go <1994-epistrepho-> again <1994-epistrepho-> and visit <1980-episkeptomai-> our brethren <0080-adephos-> in every <3956-pas-> city <4172-polis-> where <3739-hos-> we have preached <2605-kataggello-> the word <3056-logos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->, [and see] how <4459-pos-> they do <2192-echo->.
:37 And Barnabas <0921-Barnabas-> determined <1011-bouleuo-> to take <4838-sumparalambano-> with them John <2491-Ioannes->, whose <3588-ho-> surname <2564-kaleo-> was Mark <3138-Markos->.
:38 But Paul <3972-Paulos-> thought not good <0515-axioo-> to take <4838-sumparalambano-> him with them, who <3588-ho-> departed <0868-aphistemi-> from them from Pamphylia <3828-Pamphulia->, and went <4905-sunerchomai-> not with them to the work <2041-ergon->.
:39 And the contention <3948-paroxusmos-> was so <5620-hoste-> sharp between them, that they departed <0673-apochorizo-> asunder <0673-apochorizo-> one <0240-allelon-> from the other <0240-allelon->: and so <5037-te-> Barnabas <0921-Barnabas-> took <3880-paralambano-> Mark <3138-Markos->, and sailed <1602-ekpleo-> unto Cyprus <2954-Kupros->;
:40 And Paul <3972-Paulos-> chose <1951-epilegomai-> Silas <4609-Silas->, and departed <1831-exerchomai->, being recommended <3860-paradidomi-> by the brethren <0080-adephos-> unto the grace <5485-charis-> of God <2316-theos->.
:41 And he went <1330-dierchomai-> through <1350-diktuon-> Syria <4947-Suria-> and Cilicia <2791-Kilikia->, confirming <1991-episterizo-> the churches <1577-ekklesia->.
:Acts 16
:1. Then <1161-de-> came <2658-katantao-> he to Derbe <1191-Derbe-> and Lystra <3082-Lustra->: and, behold <2400-idou->, a certain <5100-tis-> disciple <3101-mathetes-> was there <1563-ekei->, named <3686-onoma-> Timotheus <5095-Timotheos->, the son <5207-huios-> of a certain <5100-tis-> woman <1135-gune->, which was a Jewess <2453-Ioudaios->, and believed <4103-pistos->; but his father <3962-pater-> [was] a Greek <1672-Hellen->:
:2 Which <3739-hos-> was well <3140-martureo-> reported <3140-martureo-> of by the brethren <0080-adephos-> that were at <1722-en-> Lystra <3082-Lustra-> and Iconium <2430-Ikonion->.
:3 Him would <2309-thelo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> have to go <1831-exerchomai-> forth <1831-exerchomai-> with him; and took <2983-lambano-> and circumcised <4059-peritemno-> him because <1223-dia-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> which <3588-ho-> were in those <1565-ekeinos-> quarters <5117-topos->: for they knew <1492-eido-> all <0537-hapas-> that his father <3962-pater-> was a Greek <1672-Hellen->.
:4 And as they went <1279-diaporeuomai-> through <1279-diaporeuomai-> the cities <4172-polis->, they delivered <3860-paradidomi-> them the decrees <1378-dogma-> for to keep <5442-phulasso->, that were ordained <2919-krino-> of the apostles <0652-apostolos-> and elders <4245-presbuteros-> which <3588-ho-> were at <1722-en-> Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->.
:5 And so <3767-oun-> were the churches <1577-ekklesia-> established <4732-stereoo-> in the faith <4102-pistis->, and increased <4052-perisseuo-> in number <0706-arithmos-> daily <2250-hemera->.
:6. Now <1161-de-> when they had gone <1330-dierchomai-> throughout <1330-dierchomai-> Phrygia <5435-Phrugia-> and the region <5561-chora-> of Galatia <1054-Galatikos->, and were forbidden <2967-koluo-> of the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> to preach <2980-laleo-> the word <3056-logos-> in Asia <0773-Asia->,
:7 After they were come <2064-erchomai-> to Mysia <3465-Musia->, they assayed <3985-peirazo-> to go <4198-poreuomai-> into <2596-kata-> Bithynia <0978-Bithunia->: but the Spirit <4151-pneuma-> suffered <1439-eao-> them not.
:8 And they passing <3928-parerchomai-> by Mysia <3465-Musia-> came <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino-> to Troas <5174-Troas->.
:9 And a vision <3705-horama-> appeared <3700-optanomai-> to Paul <3972-Paulos-> in the night <3571-nux->; There stood <2476-histemi-> a man <0435-aner-> of Macedonia <3110-Makedon->, and prayed <3870-parakaleo-> him, saying <3004-lego->, Come <1224-diabaino-> over <1224-diabaino-> into <1519-eis-> Macedonia <3109-Makedonia->, and help <0997-boetheo-> us.
:10 And after <5613-hos-> he had seen <1492-eido-> the vision <3705-horama->, immediately <2112-eutheos-> we endeavoured <2212-zeteo-> to go <1831-exerchomai-> into <1519-eis-> Macedonia <3109-Makedonia->, assuredly <4822-sumbibazo-> gathering <4822-sumbibazo-> that the Lord <2962-kurios-> had called <4341-proskaleomai-> us for to preach <2097-euaggelizo-> the gospel <2097-euaggelizo-> unto them.
:11 Therefore <3767-oun-> loosing <0321-anago-> from Troas <5174-Troas->, we came <2113-euthudromeo-> with a straight <2113-euthudromeo-> course <2113-euthudromeo-> to Samothracia <4543-Samothraike->, and the next <1966-epiousa-> [day] to Neapolis <3496-Neapolis->;
:12 And from thence <1564-ekeithen-> to Philippi <5375-Philippoi->, which <3748-hostis-> is the chief <4413-protos-> city <4172-polis-> of that part <3310-meris-> of Macedonia <3109-Makedonia->, [and] a colony <2862-kolonia->: and we were in that city <4172-polis-> abiding <1304-diatribo-> certain <5100-tis-> days <2250-hemera->.
:13 And on the sabbath <4521-sabbaton-> we went <1831-exerchomai-> out of the city <4172-polis-> by a river <4215-potamos-> side <3844-para->, where prayer <4335-proseuche-> was wont <3543-nomizo-> to be made <1511-einai->; and we sat <2523-kathizo-> down <2523-kathizo->, and spake <2980-laleo-> unto the women <1135-gune-> which resorted <4905-sunerchomai-> [thither].
:14 And a certain <5100-tis-> woman <1135-gune-> named <3686-onoma-> Lydia <3070-Ludia->, a seller <4211-porphuropolis-> of purple <4211-porphuropolis->, of the city <4172-polis-> of Thyatira <2363-Thuateira->, which worshipped <4576-sebomai-> God <2316-theos->, heard <0191-akouo-> [us]: whose <3739-hos-> heart <2588-kardia-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> opened <1272-dianoigo->, that she attended <4337-prosecho-> unto the things which were spoken <2980-laleo-> of Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:15 And when <5613-hos-> she was baptized <0907-baptizo->, and her household <3624-oikos->, she besought <3870-parakaleo-> [us], saying <3004-lego->, If <1487-ei-> ye have judged <2919-krino-> me to be faithful <4103-pistos-> to the Lord <2962-kurios->, come <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> my house <3624-oikos->, and abide <3306-meno-> [there]. And she constrained <3849-parabiazomai-> us.
:16. And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, as we went <4198-poreuomai-> to prayer <4335-proseuche->, a certain <5100-tis-> damsel <3814-paidiske-> possessed <2192-echo-> with a spirit <4151-pneuma-> of divination <4436-Puthon-> met <0528-apantao-> us, which <3748-hostis-> brought <3930-parecho-> her masters <2962-kurios-> much <4183-polus-> gain <2039-ergasia-> by soothsaying <3132-manteuomai->:
:17 The same <3778-houtos-> followed <2628-katakoloutheo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and us, and cried <2896-krazo->, saying <3004-lego->, These <3778-houtos-> men <0444-anthropos-> are the servants <1401-doulos-> of the most <5310-hupsistos-> high <5310-hupsistos-> God <2316-theos->, which <3748-hostis-> shew <2605-kataggello-> unto us the way <3598-hodos-> of salvation <4991-soteria->.
:18 And this <5124-touto-> did <4160-poieo-> she many <4183-polus-> days <2250-hemera->. But Paul <3972-Paulos->, being grieved <1278-diaponeo->, turned <1994-epistrepho-> and said <2036-epo-> to the spirit <4151-pneuma->, I command <3853-paraggello-> thee in the name <3686-onoma-> of Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos-> to come <1831-exerchomai-> out of her. And he came <1831-exerchomai-> out the same <0846-autos-> hour <5610-hora->.
:19 And when her masters <2962-kurios-> saw <1492-eido-> that the hope <1680-elpis-> of their gains <2039-ergasia-> was gone <1831-exerchomai->, they caught <1949-epilambanomai-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Silas <4609-Silas->, and drew <1670-helkuo-> [them] into <1519-eis-> the marketplace <0058-agora-> unto the rulers <0758-archon->,
:20 And brought <4317-prosago-> them to the magistrates <4755-strategos->, saying <2036-epo->, These <3778-houtos-> men <0444-anthropos->, being <5225-huparcho-> Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, do exceedingly <1613-ektarasso-> trouble <1613-ektarasso-> our city <4172-polis->,
:21 And teach <2605-kataggello-> customs <1485-ethos->, which <3739-hos-> are not lawful <1832-exesti-> for us to receive <3858-paradechomai->, neither <3761-oude-> to observe <4160-poieo->, being <5605-odino-> Romans <4514-Rhomaios->.
:22 And the multitude <3793-ochlos-> rose <4911-sunephistemi-> up together <4911-sunephistemi-> against <2596-kata-> them: and the magistrates <4755-strategos-> rent <4048-perirrhegnumi-> off <4048-perirrhegnumi-> their clothes <2440-himation->, and commanded <2753-keleuo-> to beat <4463-rhabdizo-> [them].
:23 And when they had laid <2007-epitithemi-> many <4183-polus-> stripes <4127-plege-> upon them, they cast <0906-ballo-> [them] into <1519-eis-> prison <5438-phulake->, charging <3853-paraggello-> the jailor <1200-desmophulax-> to keep <5083-tereo-> them safely <0806-asphalos->:
:24 Who <3739-hos->, having received <2983-lambano-> such <5108-toioutos-> a charge <3852-paraggelia->, thrust <0906-ballo-> them into <1519-eis-> the inner <2082-esoteros-> prison <5438-phulake->, and made <0805-asphalizo-> their feet <4228-pous-> fast <0805-asphalizo-> in the stocks <3586-xulon->.
:25. And at <2596-kata-> midnight <3317-mesonuktion-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Silas <4609-Silas-> prayed <4336-proseuchomai->, and sang <5214-humneo-> praises unto God <2316-theos->: and the prisoners <1198-desmios-> heard <1874-epakroaomai-> them.
:26 And suddenly <0869-aphno-> there was a great <3173-megas-> earthquake <4578-seismos->, so <5620-hoste-> that the foundations <2310-themelios-> of the prison <1201-desmoterion-> were shaken <4531-saleuo->: and immediately <3916-parachrema-> all <3956-pas-> the doors <2374-thura-> were opened <0455-anoigo->, and every <3956-pas-> one's bands <1199-desmon-> were loosed <0447-aniemi->.
:27 And the keeper <1200-desmophulax-> of the prison <1200-desmophulax-> awaking <1853-exupnos-> out of his sleep <1853-exupnos->, and seeing <1492-eido-> the prison <5438-phulake-> doors <2374-thura-> open <0455-anoigo->, he drew <4685-spao-> out his sword <3162-machaira->, and would <3195-mello-> have killed <0337-anaireo-> himself <1438-heautou->, supposing <3543-nomizo-> that the prisoners <1198-desmios-> had been fled <1628-ekpheugo->.
:28 But Paul <3972-Paulos-> cried <5455-phoneo-> with a loud <3173-megas-> voice <5456-phone->, saying <3004-lego->, Do <4238-prasso-> thyself <4572-seautou-> no <3367-medeis-> harm <2556-kakos->: for we are all <0537-hapas-> here <1759-enthade->.
:29 Then <1161-de-> he called <0154-aiteo-> for a light <5457-phos->, and sprang <1530-eispedao-> in, and came <1096-ginomai-> trembling <1790-entromos->, and fell <4363-prospipto-> down before <4363-prospipto-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Silas <4609-Silas->,
:30 And brought <4254-proago-> them out, and said <5346-phemi->, Sirs <2962-kurios->, what <5101-tis-> must <1163-dei-> I do <4160-poieo-> to be saved <4982-sozo->?
:31 And they said <2036-epo->, Believe <4100-pisteuo-> on <1909-epi-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos->, and thou shalt be saved <4982-sozo->, and thy house <3624-oikos->.
:32 And they spake <2980-laleo-> unto him the word <3056-logos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->, and to all <3956-pas-> that were in his house <3614-oikia->.
:33 And he took <3880-paralambano-> them the same <1565-ekeinos-> hour <5610-hora-> of the night <3571-nux->, and washed <3068-louo-> [their] stripes <4127-plege->; and was baptized <0907-baptizo->, he and all <3956-pas-> his, straightway <3916-parachrema->.
:34 And when he had brought <0321-anago-> them into <1519-eis-> his house <3624-oikos->, he set <3908-paratithemi-> meat <5132-trapeza-> before <3908-paratithemi-> them, and rejoiced <0021-agalliao->, believing <4100-pisteuo-> in God <2316-theos-> with all <3832-panoiki-> his house <3832-panoiki->.
:35. And when it was day <2250-hemera->, the magistrates <4755-strategos-> sent <0649-apostello-> the serjeants <4465-rhabdouchos->, saying <3004-lego->, Let <0630-apoluo-> those <1565-ekeinos-> men <0444-anthropos-> go <0630-apoluo->.
:36 And the keeper <1200-desmophulax-> of the prison <1200-desmophulax-> told <0518-apaggello-> this <5128-toutous-> saying <3056-logos-> to Paul <3972-Paulos->, The magistrates <4755-strategos-> have sent <0649-apostello-> to let <0630-apoluo-> you go <0630-apoluo->: now <3568-nun-> therefore <3767-oun-> depart <1831-exerchomai->, and go <4198-poreuomai-> in peace <1515-eirene->.
:37 But Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <5346-phemi-> unto them, They have beaten <1194-dero-> us openly <1219-demosios-> uncondemned <0178-akatakritos->, being <5225-huparcho-> Romans <4514-Rhomaios->, and have cast <0906-ballo-> [us] into <1519-eis-> prison <5438-phulake->; and now <3568-nun-> do they thrust <1544-ekballo-> us out privily <2977-lathra->? nay <3756-ou-> verily <1063-gar->; but let them come <2064-erchomai-> themselves <0846-autos-> and fetch <1806-exago-> us out.
:38 And the serjeants <4465-rhabdouchos-> told <0312-anaggello-> these <5023-tauta-> words <4487-rhema-> unto the magistrates <4755-strategos->: and they feared <5399-phobeo->, when they heard <0191-akouo-> that they were Romans <4514-Rhomaios->.
:39 And they came <2064-erchomai-> and besought <3870-parakaleo-> them, and brought <1806-exago-> [them] out, and desired <2065-erotao-> [them] to depart <1831-exerchomai-> out of the city <4172-polis->.
:40 And they went <1831-exerchomai-> out of the prison <5438-phulake->, and entered <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> [the house of] Lydia <3070-Ludia->: and when they had seen <1492-eido-> the brethren <0080-adephos->, they comforted <3870-parakaleo-> them, and departed <1831-exerchomai->.
:Acts 17
:1. Now <1161-de-> when they had passed <1353-diodeuo-> through <1653-eleeo-> Amphipolis <0295-Amphipolis-> and Apollonia <0624-Apollonia->, they came <2064-erchomai-> to Thessalonica <2332-Thessalonike->, where <3699-hopou-> was a synagogue <4864-sunagoge-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->:
:2 And Paul <3972-Paulos->, as his manner <1485-ethos-> was, went <1525-eiserchomai-> in unto them, and three <5140-treis-> sabbath <4521-sabbaton-> days reasoned <1256-dialegomai-> with them out of the scriptures <1124-graphe->,
:3 Opening <1272-dianoigo-> and alleging <3908-paratithemi->, that Christ <5547-Christos-> must <1163-dei-> needs have suffered <3958-pascho->, and risen <0450-anistemi-> again <0450-anistemi-> from the dead <3498-nekros->; and that this <3778-houtos-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, whom <3739-hos-> I preach <2605-kataggello-> unto you, is Christ <5547-Christos->.
:4 And some <5100-tis-> of them believed <3982-peitho->, and consorted <4345-proskleroo-> with Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Silas <4609-Silas->; and of the devout <4576-sebomai-> Greeks <1672-Hellen-> a great <4183-polus-> multitude <4128-plethos->, and of the chief <4413-protos-> women <1135-gune-> not a few <3641-oligos->.
:5 But the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> which believed <0544-apeitheo-> not, moved <2206-zeloo-> with envy <2206-zeloo->, took <4355-proslambano-> unto them certain <5100-tis-> lewd <4190-poneros-> fellows <0435-aner-> of the baser <0060-agoraios-> sort, and gathered <3792-ochlopoieo-> a company <3792-ochlopoieo->, and set <2350-thorubeo-> all the city <4172-polis-> on an uproar <2350-thorubeo->, and assaulted <2186-ephistemi-> the house <3614-oikia-> of Jason <2394-Iason->, and sought <2212-zeteo-> to bring <0071-ago-> them out to the people <1218-demos->.
:6 And when they found <2147-heurisko-> them not, they drew <4951-suro-> Jason <2394-Iason-> and certain <5100-tis-> brethren <0080-adephos-> unto the rulers <4173-politarches-> of the city <4173-politarches->, crying <0994-boao->, These <3778-houtos-> that have turned <0387-anastatoo-> the world <3625-oikoumene-> upside <0389-anastenazo-> down <0387-anastatoo-> are come <3918-pareimi-> hither <1759-enthade-> also <2532-kai->;
:7 Whom <3739-hos-> Jason <2394-Iason-> hath received <5264-hupodechomai->: and these <3778-houtos-> all <3956-pas-> do <4160-poieo-> contrary <0561-apenanti-> to the decrees <1378-dogma-> of Caesar <2541-Kaisar->, saying <3004-lego-> that there is another <2087-heteros-> king <0935-basileus->, [one] Jesus <2424-Iesous->.
:8 And they troubled <5015-tarasso-> the people <3793-ochlos-> and the rulers <4173-politarches-> of the city <4173-politarches->, when they heard <0191-akouo-> these <5023-tauta-> things.
:9 And when they had taken <2983-lambano-> security <2425-hikanos-> of Jason <2394-Iason->, and of the other <3062-loipoy->, they let <0630-apoluo-> them go <0630-apoluo->.
:10. And the brethren <0080-adephos-> immediately <2112-eutheos-> sent <1599-ekpempo-> away <1599-ekpempo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and Silas <4609-Silas-> by night <3571-nux-> unto Berea <0960-Beroia->: who <3748-hostis-> coming <3854-paraginomai-> [thither <3854-paraginomai->] went <0549-apeimi-> into <1519-eis-> the synagogue <4864-sunagoge-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->.
:11 These <3778-houtos-> were more noble <2104-eugenes-> than those <3588-ho-> in Thessalonica <2332-Thessalonike->, in that they received <1209-dechomai-> the word <3056-logos-> with all <3956-pas-> readiness <4288-prothumia-> of mind <4288-prothumia->, and searched <0350-anakrino-> the scriptures <1124-graphe-> daily <2250-hemera->, whether <1487-ei-> those <5023-tauta-> things were so <3779-houto->.
:12 Therefore <3767-oun-> many <4183-polus-> of them believed <4100-pisteuo->; also <2532-kai-> of honourable <2158-euschemon-> women <1135-gune-> which <3588-ho-> were Greeks <1674-Hellenis->, and of men <0435-aner->, not a few <3641-oligos->.
:13 But when <5613-hos-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> of Thessalonica <2332-Thessalonike-> had knowledge <1097-ginosko-> that the word <3056-logos-> of God <2316-theos-> was preached <2605-kataggello-> of Paul <3972-Paulos-> at <1722-en-> Berea <0960-Beroia->, they came <2064-erchomai-> thither <1563-ekei-> also <2546-kakei->, and stirred <4531-saleuo-> up the people <3793-ochlos->.
:14 And then <5119-tote-> immediately <2112-eutheos-> the brethren <0080-adephos-> sent <1821-exapostello-> away <1821-exapostello-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> to go <4198-poreuomai-> as it were to the sea <2281-thalassa->: but Silas <4609-Silas-> and Timotheus <5095-Timotheos-> abode <5278-hupomeno-> there <1563-ekei-> still.
:15 And they that conducted <2525-kathistemi-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> brought <0071-ago-> him unto Athens <0116-Athenai->: and receiving <2983-lambano-> a commandment <1785-entole-> unto Silas <4609-Silas-> and Timotheus <5095-Timotheos-> for to come <2064-erchomai-> to him with all <5033-tachista-> speed <5033-tachista->, they departed <1826-exeimi->.
:16. Now <1161-de-> while Paul <3972-Paulos-> waited <1551-ekdechomai-> for them at <1722-en-> Athens <0116-Athenai->, his spirit <4151-pneuma-> was stirred <3947-paroxuno-> in him, when he saw <2334-theoreo-> the city <4172-polis-> wholly given to idolatry <2712-kateidolos->.
:17 Therefore <3767-oun-> disputed <1256-dialegomai-> he in the synagogue <4864-sunagoge-> with the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, and with the devout <4576-sebomai-> persons, and in the market <0058-agora-> daily <2250-hemera-> with them that met <3909-paratugchano-> with him.
:18 Then <1161-de-> certain <5100-tis-> philosophers <5386-philosophos-> of the Epicureans <1946-Epikoureios->, and of the Stoicks <4770-Stoikos->, encountered <4820-sumballo-> him. And some <5100-tis-> said <3004-lego->, What <5101-tis-> will <2309-thelo-> this <3778-houtos-> babbler <4691-spermologos-> say <3004-lego->? other <1161-de-> some <3588-ho->, He seemeth <1380-dokeo-> to be a setter <2604-kataggeleus-> forth <2604-kataggeleus-> of strange <3581-xenos-> gods <1140-daimonion->: because <3754-hoti-> he preached <2907-kreas-> unto them Jesus <2424-Iesous->, and the resurrection <0386-anastasis->.
:19 And they took <1949-epilambanomai-> him, and brought <0071-ago-> him unto Areopagus <0697-Areios Pagos->, saying <3004-lego->, May <1410-dunamai-> we know <1097-ginosko-> what <5101-tis-> this <3778-houtos-> new <2537-kainos-> doctrine <1322-didache->, whereof thou speakest <2980-laleo->, [is]?
:20 For thou bringest <1533-eisphero-> certain <5100-tis-> strange <3579-xenizo-> things to our ears <0189-akoe->: we would know <1097-ginosko-> therefore <3767-oun-> what <5101-tis-> these <5023-tauta-> things mean <1511-einai->.
:21 (For all <3956-pas-> the Athenians <0117-Athenaios-> and strangers <3581-xenos-> which <3588-ho-> were there <1927-epidemeo-> spent <2119-eukaireo-> their time <2119-eukaireo-> in nothing <3762-oudeis-> else <2087-heteros->, but either <2228-e-> to tell <3004-lego->, or <2532-kai-> to hear <0191-akouo-> some <5100-tis-> new <2537-kainos-> thing.)
:22. Then <1161-de-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> stood <2476-histemi-> in the midst <3319-mesos-> of Mars <0697-Areios Pagos->' hill <0697-Areios Pagos->, and said <5346-phemi->, [Ye] men <0435-aner-> of Athens <0117-Athenaios->, I perceive <2334-theoreo-> that in all <3956-pas-> things ye are too <1174-deisidaimonesteros-> superstitious <1174-deisidaimonesteros->.
:23 For as I passed <1330-dierchomai-> by, and beheld <0333-antheoreo-> your <5216-humon-> devotions <4574-sebasma->, I found <2147-heurisko-> an altar <1041-bomos-> with this <3739-hos-> inscription <1924-epigrapho->, TO THE UNKNOWN <0057-agnostos-> GOD <2316-theos->. Whom <3739-hos-> therefore <3767-oun-> ye ignorantly <0050-agnoeo-> worship <2151-eusebeo->, him declare <2605-kataggello-> I unto you.
:24 God <2316-theos-> that made <4160-poieo-> the world <2889-kosmos-> and all <3956-pas-> things therein <0846-autos->, seeing that he is Lord <2962-kurios-> of heaven <3772-ouranos-> and earth <1093-ge->, dwelleth <2730-katoikeo-> not in temples <3485-naos-> made <5499-cheiropoietos-> with hands <5499-cheiropoietos->;
:25 Neither <3761-oude-> is worshipped <2323-therapeuo-> with men's <0444-anthropos-> hands <5495-cheir->, as though he needed <4326-prosdeomai-> any <5100-tis-> thing, seeing he giveth <1325-didomi-> to all <3956-pas-> life <2222-zoe->, and breath <4157-pnoe->, and all <3956-pas-> things;
:26 And hath made <4160-poieo-> of one <1520-heis-> blood <0129-haima-> all <3956-pas-> nations <1484-ethnos-> of men <0444-anthropos-> for to dwell <2730-katoikeo-> on <1909-epi-> all <3956-pas-> the face <4383-prosopon-> of the earth <1093-ge->, and hath determined <3724-horizo-> the times <2540-kairos-> before <4384-protasso-> appointed <4384-protasso->, and the bounds <3734-horothesia-> of their habitation <2733-katoikia->;
:27 That they should seek <2212-zeteo-> the Lord <2962-kurios->, if <1487-ei-> haply <0686-ara-> they might feel <5584-pselaphao-> after him, and find <2147-heurisko-> him, though <2544-kaitoige-> he be not far <3112-makran-> from every <1538-hekastos-> one <1520-heis-> of us:
:28 For in him we live <2198-zao->, and move <2795-kineo->, and have our being <2070-esmen->; as certain <5100-tis-> also <2532-kai-> of your <5209-humas-> own <2596-kata-> poets <4163-poietes-> have said <2046-ereo->, For we are also <2532-kai-> his offspring <1085-genos->.
:29 Forasmuch then <3767-oun-> as we are the offspring <1085-genos-> of God <2316-theos->, we ought <3784-opheilo-> not to think <3543-nomizo-> that the Godhead <2304-theios-> is like <3664-homoios-> unto gold <5557-chrusos->, or <2228-e-> silver <0696-arguros->, or <2228-e-> stone <3037-lithos->, graven <5480-charagma-> by art <5078-techne-> and man's <0444-anthropos-> device <1761-enthumesis->.
:30 And the times <5550-chronos-> of this <3588-ho-> ignorance <0052-agnoia-> God <2316-theos-> winked <5237-hupereido-> at; but now <3568-nun-> commandeth <3853-paraggello-> all <3956-pas-> men <0444-anthropos-> every <3837-pantachou-> where <3837-pantachou-> to repent <3340-metanoeo->:
:31 Because <1360-dioti-> he hath appointed <2476-histemi-> a day <2250-hemera->, in the which <3739-hos-> he will <3195-mello-> judge <2919-krino-> the world <3625-oikoumene-> in righteousness <1343-dikaiosune-> by [that] man <0435-aner-> whom <3739-hos-> he hath ordained <3724-horizo->; [whereof] he hath given <3930-parecho-> assurance <4102-pistis-> unto all <3956-pas-> [men], in that he hath raised <0450-anistemi-> him from the dead <3498-nekros->.
:32. And when they heard <0191-akouo-> of the resurrection <0386-anastasis-> of the dead <3498-nekros->, some <3588-ho-> mocked <5512-chleuazo->: and others <3588-ho-> said <2036-epo->, We will hear <0191-akouo-> thee again <3825-palin-> of this <5127-toutou-> [matter].
:33 So <3779-houto-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> departed <1831-exerchomai-> from among <3319-mesos-> them.
:34 Howbeit certain <5100-tis-> men <0435-aner-> clave <2853-kollao-> unto him, and believed <4100-pisteuo->: among <1722-en-> the which <3739-hos-> [was] Dionysius <1354-Dionusios-> the Areopagite <0698-Areopagites->, and a woman <1135-gune-> named <3686-onoma-> Damaris <1152-Damaris->, and others <2087-heteros-> with them.
:Acts 18
:1. After <3326-meta-> these <5023-tauta-> things Paul <3972-Paulos-> departed <5562-choreo-> from Athens <0116-Athenai->, and came <2064-erchomai-> to Corinth <2882-Korinthos->;
:2 And found <2147-heurisko-> a certain <5100-tis-> Jew <2453-Ioudaios-> named <3686-onoma-> Aquila <0207-Akulas->, born <1085-genos-> in Pontus <4195-Pontos->, lately <4373-prosphatos-> come <2064-erchomai-> from Italy <2482-Italia->, with his wife <1135-gune-> Priscilla <4252-Priscilla->; (because that Claudius <2804-Klaudios-> had commanded <1299-diatasso-> all <3956-pas-> Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> to depart <5562-choreo-> from Rome <4516-Rhome->:) and came <4334-proserchomai-> unto them.
:3 And because <1223-dia-> he was of the same <3673-homothechnos-> craft <3673-homothechnos->, he abode <3306-meno-> with them, and wrought <2038-ergazomai->: for by their occupation <5078-techne-> they were tentmakers <4635-skenopoios->.
:4 And he reasoned <1256-dialegomai-> in the synagogue <4864-sunagoge-> every <3956-pas-> sabbath <4521-sabbaton->, and persuaded <3982-peitho-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> and the Greeks <1672-Hellen->.
:5 And when <5613-hos-> Silas <4609-Silas-> and Timotheus <5095-Timotheos-> were come <2718-katerchomai-> from Macedonia <3109-Makedonia->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> was pressed <4912-sunecho-> in the spirit <4151-pneuma->, and testified <1263-diamarturomai-> to the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> [that] Jesus <2424-Iesous-> [was] Christ <5547-Christos->.
:6 And when they opposed <0498-antitassomai-> themselves, and blasphemed <0987-blasphemeo->, he shook <1621-ektinasso-> [his] raiment <2440-himation->, and said <2036-epo-> unto them, Your <0546-apeileo-> blood <0129-haima-> [be] upon your <0546-apeileo-> own heads <2776-kephale->; I [am] clean <2513-katharos->: from henceforth <3568-nun-> I will go <4198-poreuomai-> unto the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->.
:7. And he departed <1831-exerchomai-> thence <1564-ekeithen->, and entered <2064-erchomai-> into <1519-eis-> a certain <5100-tis-> [man's] house <3614-oikia->, named <3686-onoma-> Justus <2459-Ioustos->, [one] that worshipped <4576-sebomai-> God <2316-theos->, whose <3739-hos-> house <3614-oikia-> joined <4927-sunomoreo-> hard <4927-sunomoreo-> to the synagogue <4864-sunagoge->.
:8 And Crispus <2921-Krispos->, the chief <0752-archisunagogos-> ruler <0752-archisunagogos-> of the synagogue <0752-archisunagogos->, believed <4100-pisteuo-> on the Lord <2962-kurios-> with all <3650-holos-> his house <3624-oikos->; and many <4183-polus-> of the Corinthians <2881-Korinthios-> hearing <0191-akouo-> believed <4100-pisteuo->, and were baptized <0907-baptizo->.
:9 Then <1161-de-> spake <2036-epo-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> to Paul <3972-Paulos-> in the night <3571-nux-> by a vision <3705-horama->, Be not afraid <5399-phobeo->, but speak <2980-laleo->, and hold <4623-siopao-> not thy peace <4623-siopao->:
:10 For I am <1510-eimi-> with thee, and no <3762-oudeis-> man <3762-oudeis-> shall set <2007-epitithemi-> on <2007-epitithemi-> thee to hurt <2559-kakoo-> thee: for I have <2076-esti-> much <4183-polus-> people <2992-laos-> in this <5026-taute-> city <4172-polis->.
:11 And he continued <2523-kathizo-> [there] a year <1763-eniautos-> and six <1803-hex-> months <3376-men->, teaching <1321-didasko-> the word <3056-logos-> of God <2316-theos-> among <1722-en-> them.
:12. And when Gallio <1058-Gallion-> was the deputy <0446-anthupatos-> of Achaia <0882-Achaia->, the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> made <2721-katephistemi-> insurrection <2721-katephistemi-> with one <3361-me-> accord <3661-homothumadon-> against Paul <3972-Paulos->, and brought <0071-ago-> him to the judgment <0968-bema-> seat <0968-bema->,
:13 Saying <3004-lego->, This <3778-houtos-> [fellow] persuadeth <0374-anapeitho-> men <0444-anthropos-> to worship <4576-sebomai-> God <2316-theos-> contrary <3844-para-> to the law <3551-nomos->.
:14 And when Paul <3972-Paulos-> was now <1161-de-> about <3195-mello-> to open <0455-anoigo-> [his] mouth <4750-stoma->, Gallio <1058-Gallion-> said <2036-epo-> unto the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, If <1487-ei-> it were a matter of wrong <0092-adikema-> or <2228-e-> wicked <4190-poneros-> lewdness <4467-rhaidiourgema->, O [ye] Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, reason <3056-logos-> would that I should bear <0430-anechomai-> with you:
:15 But if <1487-ei-> it be a question <2213-zetema-> of words <3056-logos-> and names <3686-onoma->, and [of] your <5209-humas-> law <3551-nomos->, look <3700-optanomai-> ye [to it]; for I will <1014-boo-lom-ahee-> be no <3756-ou-> judge <2923-krites-> of such <5130-touton-> [matters].
:16 And he drave <0556-apelauno-> them from the judgment <0968-bema-> seat <0968-bema->.
:17 Then <1161-de-> all <3956-pas-> the Greeks <1672-Hellen-> took <1949-epilambanomai-> Sosthenes <4988-Sosthenes->, the chief <0752-archisunagogos-> ruler <0752-archisunagogos-> of the synagogue <0752-archisunagogos->, and beat <5180-tupto-> [him] before <1715-emprosthen-> the judgment <0968-bema-> seat <0968-bema->. And Gallio <1058-Gallion-> cared <3199-melo-> for none <3762-oudeis-> of those <5130-touton-> things.
:18. And Paul <3972-Paulos-> [after this] tarried <4357-prosmeno-> [there] yet <2089-eti-> a good <2425-hikanos-> while <2250-hemera->, and then took <0657-apotassomai-> his leave <0657-apotassomai-> of the brethren <0080-adephos->, and sailed <1602-ekpleo-> thence into <1519-eis-> Syria <4947-Suria->, and with him Priscilla <4252-Priscilla-> and Aquila <0207-Akulas->; having shorn <2751-keiro-> [his] head <2776-kephale-> in Cenchrea <2747-Kegchreai->: for he had <2192-echo-> a vow <2171-euche->.
:19 And he came <2658-katantao-> to Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->, and left <2641-kataleipo-> them there <0847-autou->: but he himself <0846-autos-> entered <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> the synagogue <4864-sunagoge->, and reasoned <1256-dialegomai-> with the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->.
:20 When they desired <2065-erotao-> [him] to tarry <3306-meno-> longer <4119-pleion-> time <5550-chronos-> with them, he consented <1962-epineuo-> not;
:21 But bade <0657-apotassomai-> them farewell <0657-apotassomai->, saying <2036-epo->, I must <1163-dei-> by all <3843-pantos-> means <3843-pantos-> keep <4160-poieo-> this <3588-ho-> feast <1859-heorte-> that cometh <2064-erchomai-> in Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->: but I will return <0344-anakampto-> again <3825-palin-> unto you, if God <2316-theos-> will <2309-thelo->. And he sailed <0321-anago-> from Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->.
:22 And when he had landed <2718-katerchomai-> at <1519-eis-> Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->, and gone <0305-anabaino-> up, and saluted <0782-aspazomai-> the church <1577-ekklesia->, he went <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino-> to Antioch <0490-Antiocheia->.
:23 And after he had spent <4160-poieo-> some <5100-tis-> time <5550-chronos-> [there], he departed <1831-exerchomai->, and went <1330-dierchomai-> over <1330-dierchomai-> [all] the country <5561-chora-> of Galatia <1054-Galatikos-> and Phrygia <5435-Phrugia-> in order <2517-kathexes->, strengthening <1991-episterizo-> all <3956-pas-> the disciples <3101-mathetes->.
:24. And a certain <5100-tis-> Jew <2453-Ioudaios-> named <3686-onoma-> Apollos <0625-Apollos->, born <1085-genos-> at Alexandria <0221-Alexandreus->, an eloquent <3052-logios-> man <0435-aner->, [and] mighty <1415-dunatos-> in the scriptures <1124-graphe->, came <2658-katantao-> to Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->.
:25 This <3778-houtos-> man was instructed <2727-katecheo-> in the way <3598-hodos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->; and being fervent <2204-zeo-> in the spirit <4151-pneuma->, he spake <2980-laleo-> and taught <1321-didasko-> diligently <0199-akribos-> the things of the Lord <2962-kurios->, knowing <1987-epistamai-> only <3440-monon-> the baptism <0908-baptisma-> of John <2491-Ioannes->.
:26 And he began <0756-archomai-> to speak boldly <3955-parrhesiazomai-> in the synagogue <4864-sunagoge->: whom <0846-autos-> when Aquila <0207-Akulas-> and Priscilla <4252-Priscilla-> had heard <0191-akouo->, they took <4355-proslambano-> him unto [them], and expounded <1620-ektithemi-> unto him the way <3598-hodos-> of God <2316-theos-> more <0197-akribesteron-> perfectly <0197-akribesteron->.
:27 And when he was disposed <1014-boo-lom-ahee-> to pass <1330-dierchomai-> into <1519-eis-> Achaia <0882-Achaia->, the brethren <0080-adephos-> wrote <1125-grapho->, exhorting <4389-protrepomai-> the disciples <3101-mathetes-> to receive <0588-apodechomai-> him: who <3739-hos->, when he was come <3854-paraginomai->, helped <4820-sumballo-> them much <4183-polus-> which had believed <4100-pisteuo-> through <1223-dia-> grace <5485-charis->:
:28 For he mightily <2159-eutonos-> convinced <1246-diakatelegchomai-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, [and that] publickly <1219-demosios->, shewing <1925-epideiknumi-> by the scriptures <1124-graphe-> that Jesus <2424-Iesous-> was Christ <5547-Christos->.
:Acts 19
:1. And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that, while <3588-ho-> Apollos <0625-Apollos-> was at <1722-en-> Corinth <2882-Korinthos->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> having passed <1330-dierchomai-> through <1330-dierchomai-> the upper <0510-anoterikos-> coasts <3313-meros-> came <2064-erchomai-> to Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->: and finding <2147-heurisko-> certain <5100-tis-> disciples <3101-mathetes->,
:2 He said <2036-epo-> unto them, Have ye received <2983-lambano-> the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> since ye believed <4100-pisteuo->? And they said <2036-epo-> unto him, We have not so <3761-oude-> much <3761-oude-> as heard <0191-akouo-> whether <1487-ei-> there be any Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->.
:3 And he said <2036-epo-> unto them, Unto what <5101-tis-> then <3767-oun-> were ye baptized <0907-baptizo->? And they said <2036-epo->, Unto John's <2491-Ioannes-> baptism <0908-baptisma->.
:4 Then <1161-de-> said <2036-epo-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, John <2491-Ioannes-> verily <3303-men-> baptized <0907-baptizo-> with the baptism <0908-baptisma-> of repentance <3341-metanoia->, saying <3004-lego-> unto the people <2992-laos->, that they should believe <4100-pisteuo-> on <1519-eis-> him which should come <2064-erchomai-> after <3326-meta-> him, that is, on <1519-eis-> Christ <5547-Christos-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->.
:5 When they heard <0191-akouo-> [this], they were baptized <0907-baptizo-> in the name <3686-onoma-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->.
:6 And when Paul <3972-Paulos-> had laid <2007-epitithemi-> [his] hands <5495-cheir-> upon them, the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> came <2064-erchomai-> on <1909-epi-> them; and they spake <2980-laleo-> with tongues <1100-glossa->, and prophesied <4395-propheteuo->.
:7 And all <3956-pas-> the men <0435-aner-> were about <5616-hosei-> twelve <1177-dekaduo->.
:8. And he went <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> the synagogue <4864-sunagoge->, and spake boldly <3955-parrhesiazomai-> for the space <1909-epi-> of three <5140-treis-> months <3376-men->, disputing <1256-dialegomai-> and persuading <3982-peitho-> the things concerning <4012-peri-> the kingdom <0932-basileia-> of God <2316-theos->.
:9 But when <5613-hos-> divers <5100-tis-> were hardened <4645-skleruno->, and believed <0544-apeitheo-> not, but spake <2551-kakologeo-> evil of that way <3598-hodos-> before <1799-enopion-> the multitude <4128-plethos->, he departed <0868-aphistemi-> from them, and separated <0873-aphorizo-> the disciples <3101-mathetes->, disputing <1256-dialegomai-> daily <2250-hemera-> in the school <4981-schole-> of one <5100-tis-> Tyrannus <5181-Turannos->.
:10 And this <5124-touto-> continued <1096-ginomai-> by the space <1909-epi-> of two <1417-duo-> years <2094-etos->; so <5620-hoste-> that all <3956-pas-> they which dwelt <2730-katoikeo-> in Asia <0773-Asia-> heard <0191-akouo-> the word <3056-logos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, both <5037-te-> Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> and Greeks <1672-Hellen->.
:11 And God <2316-theos-> wrought <4160-poieo-> special <5177-tugchano-> miracles <1411-dunamis-> by the hands <5495-cheir-> of Paul <3972-Paulos->:
:12 So <5620-hoste-> that from his body <5559-chros-> were brought <2018-epiphero-> unto the sick <0770-astheneo-> handkerchiefs <4676-soudarion-> or <2228-e-> aprons <4612-simikinthion->, and the diseases <3554-nosos-> departed <0525-apallasso-> from them, and the evil <4190-poneros-> spirits <4151-pneuma-> went <1831-exerchomai-> out of them.
:13. Then <1161-de-> certain <5100-tis-> of the vagabond <4022-perierchomai-> Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, exorcists <1845-exorkistes->, took <2021-epicheireo-> upon them to call <3687-onomazo-> over <1909-epi-> them which had <2192-echo-> evil <4190-poneros-> spirits <4151-pneuma-> the name <3686-onoma-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, saying <3004-lego->, We adjure <3726-horkizo-> you by Jesus <2424-Iesous-> whom <3739-hos-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> preacheth <2784-kerusso->.
:14 And there were seven <2033-hepta-> sons <5207-huios-> of [one] Sceva <4630-Skeuas->, a Jew <2453-Ioudaios->, [and] chief <0749-archiereus-> of the priests <0749-archiereus->, which did <4160-poieo-> so <5124-touto->.
:15 And the evil <4190-poneros-> spirit <4151-pneuma-> answered <0611-apokrinomai-> and said <2036-epo->, Jesus <2424-Iesous-> I know <1097-ginosko->, and Paul <3972-Paulos-> I know <1987-epistamai->; but who <5101-tis-> are ye?
:16 And the man <0444-anthropos-> in whom <3739-hos-> the evil <4190-poneros-> spirit <4151-pneuma-> was leaped <2177-ephallomai-> on <1909-epi-> them, and overcame <2634-katakurieuo-> them, and prevailed <2480-ischuo-> against <2596-kata-> them, so <5620-hoste-> that they fled <1628-ekpheugo-> out of that house <3624-oikos-> naked <1131-gumnos-> and wounded <5135-traumatizo->.
:17 And this <5124-touto-> was known <1110-gnostos-> to all <3956-pas-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> and Greeks <1672-Hellen-> also <2532-kai-> dwelling <2730-katoikeo-> at Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->; and fear <5401-phobos-> fell <1968-epipipto-> on <1909-epi-> them all <3956-pas->, and the name <3686-onoma-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> was magnified <3170-megaluno->.
:18 And many <4183-polus-> that believed <4100-pisteuo-> came <2064-erchomai->, and confessed <1843-exomologeo->, and shewed <0312-anaggello-> their deeds <4234-praxis->.
:19 Many <2425-hikanos-> of them also <1161-de-> which used <4238-prasso-> curious <4021-periergos-> arts <4021-periergos-> brought <4851-sumphero-> their books <0976-biblos-> together <4851-sumphero->, and burned <2618-katakaio-> them before <1799-enopion-> all <3956-pas-> [men]: and they counted <4860-sumpsephizo-> the price <5092-time-> of them, and found <2147-heurisko-> [it] fifty <3461-murias-> thousand <3461-murias-> [pieces] of silver <0694-argurion->.
:20 So <3779-houto-> mightily <2904-kratos-> grew <0837-auzano-> the word <3056-logos-> of God <2962-kurios-> and prevailed <2480-ischuo->.
:21. After <5613-hos-> these <5023-tauta-> things were ended <4137-pleroo->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> purposed <5087-tithemi-> in the spirit <4151-pneuma->, when he had passed <1330-dierchomai-> through <1330-dierchomai-> Macedonia <3109-Makedonia-> and Achaia <0882-Achaia->, to go <4198-poreuomai-> to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, saying <2036-epo->, After <3326-meta-> I have been <1096-ginomai-> there <1563-ekei->, I must <1163-dei-> also <2532-kai-> see <1492-eido-> Rome <4516-Rhome->.
:22 So he sent <0649-apostello-> into <1519-eis-> Macedonia <3109-Makedonia-> two <1417-duo-> of them that ministered <1247-diakoneo-> unto him, Timotheus <5095-Timotheos-> and Erastus <2037-Erastos->; but he himself <0846-autos-> stayed <1907-epecho-> in Asia <0773-Asia-> for a season <5550-chronos->.
:23 And the same <1565-ekeinos-> time <2540-kairos-> there arose <1096-ginomai-> no <3756-ou-> small <3641-oligos-> stir <5017-tarachos-> about <4012-peri-> that way <3598-hodos->.
:24 For a certain <5100-tis-> [man] named <3686-onoma-> Demetrius <1216-Demetrios->, a silversmith <0695-argurokopos->, which made <4160-poieo-> silver <0693-argureos-> shrines <3485-naos-> for Diana <0735-Artemis->, brought <3930-parecho-> no <3756-ou-> small <3641-oligos-> gain <2039-ergasia-> unto the craftsmen <5079-technites->;
:25 Whom <3739-hos-> he called <4867-sunathroizo-> together <4867-sunathroizo-> with the workmen <2040-ergates-> of like <5108-toioutos-> occupation, and said <2036-epo->, Sirs <0435-aner->, ye know <1987-epistamai-> that by this <5026-taute-> craft <2039-ergasia-> we have <2076-esti-> our wealth <2142-euporia->.
:26 Moreover <2532-kai-> ye see <2334-theoreo-> and hear <0191-akouo->, that not alone <3440-monon-> at Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->, but almost <4975-schedon-> throughout all <3956-pas-> Asia <0773-Asia->, this <3778-houtos-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> hath persuaded <3982-peitho-> and turned <3179-methistemi-> away <3179-methistemi-> much <2425-hikanos-> people <3793-ochlos->, saying <3004-lego-> that they be no <3756-ou-> gods <2316-theos->, which <3588-ho-> are made <1096-ginomai-> with hands <5495-cheir->:
:27 So that not only <3440-monon-> this <5124-touto-> our craft <3313-meros-> is in danger <2793-kinduneuo-> to be set <2064-erchomai-> at <1519-eis-> nought <0557-apelegmos->; but also <2532-kai-> that the temple <2411-hieron-> of the great <3173-megas-> goddess <2299-thea-> Diana <0735-Artemis-> should be despised <3049-logizomai->, and her magnificence <3168-megaleiotes-> should <3195-mello-> be destroyed <2507-kathaireo->, whom <3739-hos-> all <3650-holos-> Asia <0773-Asia-> and the world <3625-oikoumene-> worshippeth <4576-sebomai->.
:28 And when they heard <0191-akouo-> [these sayings], they were full <4134-pleres-> of wrath <2372-thumos->, and cried <2896-krazo-> out, saying <3004-lego->, Great <3173-megas-> [is] Diana <0735-Artemis-> of the Ephesians <2180-Ephesios->.
:29 And the whole <3650-holos-> city <4172-polis-> was filled <4130-pletho-> with confusion <4799-sugchusis->: and having caught <4884-sunarpazo-> Gaius <1050-Gaios-> and Aristarchus <0708-Aristarchos->, men of Macedonia <3110-Makedon->, Paul's <3972-Paulos-> companions <4898-sunekdemos-> in travel <4898-sunekdemos->, they rushed <3729-hormao-> with one <3661-homothumadon-> accord <3661-homothumadon-> into <1519-eis-> the theatre <2302-theatron->.
:30 And when Paul <3972-Paulos-> would have entered <1525-eiserchomai-> in unto the people <1218-demos->, the disciples <3101-mathetes-> suffered <1439-eao-> him not.
:31 And certain <5100-tis-> of the chief <0775-Asiarches-> of Asia <0775-Asiarches->, which were his friends <5384-philos->, sent <3992-pempo-> unto him, desiring <3870-parakaleo-> [him] that he would not adventure <1325-didomi-> himself <1438-heautou-> into <1519-eis-> the theatre <2302-theatron->.
:32 Some <0243-allos-> therefore <3767-oun-> cried <2896-krazo-> one <3303-men-> thing, and some <0243-allos-> another <0243-allos->: for the assembly <1577-ekklesia-> was confused <4797-sugcheo->; and the more <4119-pleion-> part knew <1492-eido-> not wherefore <1752-heneka-> they were come <4905-sunerchomai-> together <4897-suneiserchomai->.
:33 And they drew <4264-probibazo-> Alexander <0223-Alexandros-> out of the multitude <3793-ochlos->, the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> putting <4261-proballo-> him forward <4261-proballo->. And Alexander <0223-Alexandros-> beckoned <2678-kataseio-> with the hand <5495-cheir->, and would <2309-thelo-> have made <0626-apologeomai-> his defence <0626-apologeomai-> unto the people <1218-demos->.
:34 But when they knew <1921-epiginosko-> that he was a Jew <2453-Ioudaios->, all <3956-pas-> with one <3391-mia-> voice <5456-phone-> about <5613-hos-> the space <1909-epi-> of two <1417-duo-> hours <5610-hora-> cried <2896-krazo-> out, Great <3173-megas-> [is] Diana <0735-Artemis-> of the Ephesians <2180-Ephesios->.
:35 And when the townclerk <1122-grammateus-> had appeased <2687-katastello-> the people <3793-ochlos->, he said <5346-phemi->, [Ye] men <0435-aner-> of Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->, what <5101-tis-> man <0444-anthropos-> is there that knoweth <1097-ginosko-> not how that the city <4172-polis-> of the Ephesians <2180-Ephesios-> is a worshipper <3511-neokoros-> of the great <3173-megas-> goddess <2299-thea-> Diana <0735-Artemis->, and of the [image] which fell <1356-diopetes-> down from Jupiter <1356-diopetes->?
:36 Seeing then <3767-oun-> that these <5130-touton-> things cannot <0368-anantirrhetos-> be spoken <0369-anantirrhetos-> against <0368-anantirrhetos->, ye ought <1163-dei-> to be quiet <2687-katastello->, and to do <4160-poieo-> nothing <3367-medeis-> rashly <4312-propetes->.
:37 For ye have brought <0071-ago-> hither these <5128-toutous-> men <0435-aner->, which are neither <3777-oute-> robbers <2417-hierosulos-> of churches <2417-hierosulos->, nor <3777-oute-> yet blasphemers <0987-blasphemeo-> of your <5216-humon-> goddess <2299-thea->.
:38 Wherefore <3767-oun-> if <1487-ei-> Demetrius <1216-Demetrios->, and the craftsmen <5079-technites-> which are with him, have <2192-echo-> a matter <3056-logos-> against <4314-pros-> any <5100-tis-> man, the law <0060-agoraios-> is open <0071-ago->, and there are deputies <0446-anthupatos->: let them implead <1458-egkaleo-> one <0240-allelon-> another <0240-allelon->.
:39 But if <1487-ei-> ye enquire <1934-epizeteo-> any <5100-tis-> thing concerning <4012-peri-> other <2087-heteros-> matters, it shall be determined <1956-epiluo-> in a lawful <1772-ennomos-> assembly <1577-ekklesia->.
:40 For we are in danger <2793-kinduneuo-> to be called <1458-egkaleo-> in question <1458-egkaleo-> for this <4594-semeron-> day's <4594-semeron-> uproar <4714-stasis->, there being <5225-huparcho-> no <3367-medeis-> cause <0158-aition-> whereby <3757-hou-> we may <1410-dunamai-> give <0591-apodidomi-> an account <3056-logos-> of this <5026-taute-> concourse <4963-sustrophe->.
:41 And when he had thus <5023-tauta-> spoken <2036-epo->, he dismissed <0630-apoluo-> the assembly <1577-ekklesia->.
:Acts 20
:1. And after <3326-meta-> the uproar <2351-thorubos-> was ceased <3973-pauo->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> called <4341-proskaleomai-> unto [him] the disciples <3101-mathetes->, and embraced <0782-aspazomai-> [them], and departed <1831-exerchomai-> for to go <4198-poreuomai-> into <1519-eis-> Macedonia <3109-Makedonia->.
:2 And when he had gone <1330-dierchomai-> over <1330-dierchomai-> those <1565-ekeinos-> parts <3313-meros->, and had given them much <4183-polus-> exhortation <3870-parakaleo->, he came <2064-erchomai-> into <1519-eis-> Greece <1671-Hellas->,
:3 And [there] abode <4160-poieo-> three <5140-treis-> months <3376-men->. And when the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> laid <1096-ginomai-> wait <1917-epiboule-> for him, as he was about <3195-mello-> to sail <0321-anago-> into <1519-eis-> Syria <4947-Suria->, he purposed <1106-gnome-> to return <5290-hupostrepho-> through <1223-dia-> Macedonia <3109-Makedonia->.
:4 And there accompanied <4902-sunepomai-> him into Asia <0773-Asia-> Sopater <4986-Sopatros-> of Berea <0960-Beroia->; and of the Thessalonians <2331-Thessalonikeus->, Aristarchus <0708-Aristarchos-> and Secundus <4580-Sekoundos->; and Gaius <1050-Gaios-> of Derbe <1191-Derbe->, and Timotheus <5095-Timotheos->; and of Asia <0773-Asia->, Tychicus <5190-Tuchikos-> and Trophimus <5161-Trophimos->.
:5 These <3778-houtos-> going <4281-proerchomai-> before <4281-proerchomai-> tarried <3306-meno-> for us at <1722-en-> Troas <5174-Troas->.
:6 And we sailed <1602-ekpleo-> away <1602-ekpleo-> from Philippi <5375-Philippoi-> after <3326-meta-> the days <2250-hemera-> of unleavened <0106-azumos-> bread, and came <2064-erchomai-> unto them to Troas <5174-Troas-> in five <4002-pente-> days <2250-hemera->; where <3757-hou-> we abode <1304-diatribo-> seven <2033-hepta-> days <2250-hemera->.
:7. And upon the first <3391-mia-> [day] of the week <4521-sabbaton->, when the disciples <3101-mathetes-> came <4863-sunago-> together <4863-sunago-> to break <2806-klao-> bread <0740-artos->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> preached <1256-dialegomai-> unto them, ready <3195-mello-> to depart <1826-exeimi-> on the morrow <1887-epaurion->; and continued <3905-parateino-> his speech <3056-logos-> until <3360-mechri-> midnight <3317-mesonuktion->.
:8 And there were many <2425-hikanos-> lights <2985-lampas-> in the upper <5250-huperpleonazo-> chamber <5253-huperoion->, where <3757-hou-> they were gathered <4863-sunago-> together <4863-sunago->.
:9 And there sat <2521-kathemai-> in a window <2376-thuris-> a certain <5100-tis-> young <3494-neanias-> man <3494-neanias-> named <3686-onoma-> Eutychus <2161-Eutuchos->, being fallen <2702-kataphero-> into a deep <0901-bathus-> sleep <5258-hupnos->: and as Paul <3972-Paulos-> was long <4119-pleion-> preaching <1256-dialegomai->, he sunk <2702-kataphero-> down <2736-kato-> with sleep <5258-hupnos->, and fell <4098-pipto-> down from the third <5152-tristegon-> loft <5152-tristegon->, and was taken <0142-airo-> up dead <3498-nekros->.
:10 And Paul <3972-Paulos-> went <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino->, and fell <1968-epipipto-> on <1968-epipipto-> him, and embracing <4843-sumperilambano-> [him] said <2036-epo->, Trouble <2350-thorubeo-> not yourselves; for his life <5590-psuche-> is in him.
:11 When he therefore <3767-oun-> was come <0305-anabaino-> up again, and had broken <2806-klao-> bread <0740-artos->, and eaten <1089-geuomai->, and talked <3656-homileo-> a long <2425-hikanos-> while, even till <0891-achri-> break <0827-auge-> of day <0827-auge->, so <3779-houto-> he departed <1831-exerchomai->.
:12 And they brought <0071-ago-> the young <3816-pais-> man alive <2198-zao->, and were not a little <3357-metrios-> comforted <3870-parakaleo->.
:13. And we went <4281-proerchomai-> before <4281-proerchomai-> to ship <4143-ploion->, and sailed <0321-anago-> unto Assos <0789-Assos->, there <1564-ekeithen-> intending <3195-mello-> to take <0353-analambano-> in Paul <3972-Paulos->: for so <3779-houto-> had he appointed <1299-diatasso->, minding <3195-mello-> himself <0846-autos-> to go afoot <3978-pezeuo->.
:14 And when <5613-hos-> he met <4820-sumballo-> with us at <1519-eis-> Assos <0789-Assos->, we took <0353-analambano-> him in, and came <2064-erchomai-> to Mitylene <3412-Mitulene->.
:15 And we sailed <0636-apopleo-> thence <1564-ekeithen->, and came <2064-erchomai-> the next <1966-epiousa-> [day] over <0481-antikru-> against <0481-antikru-> Chios <5508-Chios->; and the next <2087-heteros-> [day] we arrived <3846-paraballo-> at <1519-eis-> Samos <4544-Samos->, and tarried <3306-meno-> at <1722-en-> Trogyllium <5175-Trogullion->; and the next <2192-echo-> [day] we came <2658-katantao-> to Miletus <3399-Miletos->.
:16 For Paul <3972-Paulos-> had determined <2919-krino-> to sail <3896-parapleo-> by Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->, because <3704-hopos-> he would <1096-ginomai-> not spend <5551-chronotribeo-> the time <5551-chronotribeo-> in Asia <0773-Asia->: for he hasted <4692-speudo->, if <1487-ei-> it were possible <1415-dunatos-> for him, to be at <1519-eis-> Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma-> the day <2250-hemera-> of Pentecost <4005-pentekoste->.
:17. And from Miletus <3399-Miletos-> he sent <3992-pempo-> to Ephesus <2181-Ephesos->, and called <3333-metakaleo-> the elders <4245-presbuteros-> of the church <1577-ekklesia->.
:18 And when <5613-hos-> they were come <3854-paraginomai-> to him, he said <2036-epo-> unto them, Ye know <1987-epistamai->, from the first <4413-protos-> day <2250-hemera-> that I came <1910-epibaino-> into <1519-eis-> Asia <0773-Asia->, after <4459-pos-> what <4459-pos-> manner <4458--pos-> I have been <1096-ginomai-> with you at all <3956-pas-> seasons <5550-chronos->,
:19 Serving <1398-douleuo-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> with all <3956-pas-> humility <5012-tapeinophrosune-> of mind, and with many <4183-polus-> tears <1144-dakru->, and temptations <3986-peirasmos->, which <3588-ho-> befell <4819-sumbaino-> me by the lying in wait <1917-epiboule-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->:
:20 [And] how <5613-hos-> I kept <5288-hupostello-> back <5288-hupostello-> nothing <3762-oudeis-> that was profitable <4851-sumphero-> [unto you], but have shewed <0312-anaggello-> you, and have taught <1321-didasko-> you publickly <1219-demosios->, and from house <3624-oikos-> to house <3624-oikos->,
:21 Testifying <1263-diamarturomai-> both <5037-te-> to the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, and also <2532-kai-> to the Greeks <1672-Hellen->, repentance <3341-metanoia-> toward <1519-eis-> God <2316-theos->, and faith <4102-pistis-> toward <1519-eis-> our Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos->.
:22 And now <3568-nun->, behold <2400-idou->, I go <4198-poreuomai-> bound <1210-deo-> in the spirit <4151-pneuma-> unto Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, not knowing <1492-eido-> the things that shall befall <4876-sunantao-> me there <0846-autos->:
:23 Save <4133-plen-> that the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> witnesseth <1263-diamarturomai-> in every <2596-kata-> city <4172-polis->, saying <3004-lego-> that bonds <1199-desmon-> and afflictions <2347-thlipsis-> abide <3306-meno-> me.
:24 But none <3762-oudeis-> of these things <3056-logos-> move <4160-poieo-> me, neither <3761-oude-> count <2192-echo-> I my life <5590-psuche-> dear <5093-timios-> unto myself <1683-emautou->, so <5613-hos-> that I might finish <5048-teleioo-> my course <1408-dromos-> with joy <5479-chara->, and the ministry <1248-diakonia->, which <3739-hos-> I have received <2983-lambano-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, to testify <1263-diamarturomai-> the gospel <2098-euaggelion-> of the grace <5485-charis-> of God <2316-theos->.
:25 And now <3568-nun->, behold <2400-idou->, I know <1492-eido-> that ye all <3956-pas->, among <1722-en-> whom <3739-hos-> I have gone <1330-dierchomai-> preaching <2784-kerusso-> the kingdom <0932-basileia-> of God <2316-theos->, shall see <3700-optanomai-> my face <4383-prosopon-> no <3765-ouketi-> more <3765-ouketi->.
:26 Wherefore <1352-dio-> I take you to record <3143-marturomai-> this <4594-semeron-> day <4594-semeron->, that I [am] pure <2513-katharos-> from the blood <0129-haima-> of all <3956-pas-> [men].
:27 For I have not shunned <5288-hupostello-> to declare <0312-anaggello-> unto you all <3956-pas-> the counsel <1012-boule-> of God <2316-theos->.
:28 Take heed <4337-prosecho-> therefore unto yourselves <1438-heautou->, and to all <3956-pas-> the flock <4168-poimnion->, over <1722-en-> the which <3739-hos-> the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> hath made <5087-tithemi-> you overseers <1985-episkopos->, to feed <4165-poimaino-> the church <1577-ekklesia-> of God <2316-theos->, which <3739-hos-> he hath purchased <4046-peripoieomai-> with his own <2398-idios-> blood <0129-haima->.
:29 For I know <1492-eido-> this <5124-touto->, that after <3326-meta-> my departing <0867-aphixis-> shall grievous <0926-barus-> wolves <3074-lukos-> enter <1525-eiserchomai-> in among <1519-eis-> you, not sparing <5339-pheidomai-> the flock <4168-poimnion->.
:30 Also <2532-kai-> of your <5216-humon-> own selves <0846-autos-> shall men <0435-aner-> arise <0450-anistemi->, speaking <2980-laleo-> perverse <1294-diastrepho-> things, to draw <0645-apospao-> away <0645-apospao-> disciples <3101-mathetes-> after <3694-opiso-> them.
:31 Therefore <1352-dio-> watch <1127-gregoreuo->, and remember <3421-mnemoneuo->, that by the space <4158-poderes-> of three <5148-trietia-> years <5148-trietia-> I ceased <3973-pauo-> not to warn <3560-noutheteo-> every <1538-hekastos-> one <1520-heis-> night <3571-nux-> and day <2250-hemera-> with tears <1144-dakru->.
:32 And now <3568-nun->, brethren <0080-adephos->, I commend <3908-paratithemi-> you to God <2316-theos->, and to the word <3056-logos-> of his grace <5485-charis->, which <3588-ho-> is able <1410-dunamai-> to build <2026-epoikodomeo-> you up, and to give <1325-didomi-> you an inheritance <2817-kleronomia-> among <1722-en-> all <3956-pas-> them which are sanctified <0037-hagiazo->.
:33 I have coveted <1937-epithumeo-> no <3762-oudeis-> man's <3762-oudeis-> silver <0694-argurion->, or <2228-e-> gold <5553-chrusion->, or <2228-e-> apparel <2441-himatismos->.
:34 Yea <1161-de->, ye yourselves <0846-autos-> know <1097-ginosko->, that these <3778-houtos-> hands <5495-cheir-> have ministered <5256-hupereteo-> unto my necessities <5532-chreia->, and to them that were with me.
:35 I have shewed <5263-hupodeiknumi-> you all <3956-pas-> things, how that so <3779-houto-> labouring <2872-kopiao-> ye ought <1163-dei-> to support <0482-antilambanomai-> the weak <0770-astheneo->, and to remember <3421-mnemoneuo-> the words <3056-logos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, how <3754-hoti-> he said <2036-epo->, It is more <3122-malista-> blessed <3107-makarios-> to give <1325-didomi-> than to receive <2983-lambano->.
:36. And when he had thus <5023-tauta-> spoken <2036-epo->, he kneeled <1119-gonu-> down, and prayed <4336-proseuchomai-> with them all <3956-pas->.
:37 And they all <3956-pas-> wept <2805-klauthmos-> sore <2425-hikanos->, and fell <1968-epipipto-> on <1909-epi-> Paul's <3972-Paulos-> neck <5137-trachelos->, and kissed <2705-kataphileo-> him,
:38 Sorrowing <3600-odunao-> most <3122-malista-> of all <3122-malista-> for the words <3056-logos-> which <3739-hos-> he spake <2046-ereo->, that they should <3195-mello-> see <2234-hedeos-> his face <4383-prosopon-> no <3765-ouketi-> more <3765-ouketi->. And they accompanied <4311-propempo-> him unto the ship <4143-ploion->.
:Acts 21
:1. And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that after <5613-hos-> we were gotten <0645-apospao-> from them, and had launched <0321-anago->, we came <2064-erchomai-> with a straight <2113-euthudromeo-> course <4144-ploos-> unto Coos <2972-Kos->, and the [day] following <1836-hexes-> unto Rhodes <4499-Rhodos->, and from thence <1564-ekeithen-> unto Patara <3959-Patara->:
:2 And finding <2147-heurisko-> a ship <4143-ploion-> sailing <1276-diaperao-> over <1276-diaperao-> unto Phenicia <5403-Phoinike->, we went <1910-epibaino-> aboard <1910-epibaino->, and set <0321-anago-> forth <0321-anago->.
:3 Now <1161-de-> when we had discovered <0398-anaphaino-> Cyprus <2954-Kupros->, we left <2641-kataleipo-> it on the left <2176-euonumos-> hand, and sailed <4126-pleo-> into <1519-eis-> Syria <4947-Suria->, and landed <2609-katago-> at <1519-eis-> Tyre <5184-Turos->: for there <1566-ekeise-> the ship <4143-ploion-> was to unlade <0670-apophortizomai-> her burden <1117-gomos->.
:4 And finding <0429-aneurisko-> disciples <3101-mathetes->, we tarried <1961-epimeno-> there <0847-autou-> seven <2033-hepta-> days <2250-hemera->: who <3748-hostis-> said <3004-lego-> to Paul <3972-Paulos-> through <1223-dia-> the Spirit <4151-pneuma->, that he should not go <0305-anabaino-> up to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->.
:5 And when <3753-hote-> we had accomplished <1822-exartizo-> those <3588-ho-> days <2250-hemera->, we departed <1831-exerchomai-> and went <4198-poreuomai-> our way <4311-propempo->; and they all <3956-pas-> brought <4311-propempo-> us on <1909-epi-> our way <4311-propempo->, with wives <1135-gune-> and children <5043-teknon->, till <2193-heos-> [we were] out of the city <4172-polis->: and we kneeled <1119-gonu-> down on <1909-epi-> the shore <0123-aigialos->, and prayed <4336-proseuchomai->.
:6 And when we had taken <0782-aspazomai-> our leave <0782-aspazomai-> one <0240-allelon-> of another <0240-allelon->, we took <1519-eis-> ship <4143-ploion->; and they returned <5290-hupostrepho-> home <2398-idios-> again <5290-hupostrepho->.
:7 And when we had finished <1274-dianuo-> [our] course <4144-ploos-> from Tyre <5184-Turos->, we came <2658-katantao-> to Ptolemais <4424-Ptolemais->, and saluted <0782-aspazomai-> the brethren <0080-adephos->, and abode <3306-meno-> with them one <3391-mia-> day <2250-hemera->.
:8. And the next <1887-epaurion-> [day] we that were of Paul's <3972-Paulos-> company <4012-peri-> departed <1831-exerchomai->, and came <2064-erchomai-> unto Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->: and we entered <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> the house <3624-oikos-> of Philip <5376-Philippos-> the evangelist <2099-euaggelistes->, which was [one] of the seven <2033-hepta->; and abode <3306-meno-> with him.
:9 And the same <5129-toutoi-> man had <1510-eimi-> four <5064-tessares-> daughters <2364-thugater->, virgins <3933-parthenos->, which did prophesy <4395-propheteuo->.
:10 And as we tarried <1961-epimeno-> [there] many <4119-pleion-> days <2250-hemera->, there came <2718-katerchomai-> down <2718-katerchomai-> from Judaea <2449-Ioudaia-> a certain <5100-tis-> prophet <4396-prophetes->, named <3686-onoma-> Agabus <0013-Agabos->.
:11 And when he was come <2064-erchomai-> unto us, he took <0142-airo-> Paul's <3972-Paulos-> girdle <2223-zone->, and bound <1210-deo-> his own <0848-hautou-> hands <5495-cheir-> and feet <4228-pous->, and said <2036-epo->, Thus <3592-hode-> saith <3004-lego-> the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->, So <3779-houto-> shall the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> at <1722-en-> Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem-> bind <1210-deo-> the man <0435-aner-> that owneth <2076-esti-> this <3778-houtos-> girdle <2223-zone->, and shall deliver <3860-paradidomi-> [him] into <1519-eis-> the hands <5495-cheir-> of the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->.
:12 And when <5613-hos-> we heard <0191-akouo-> these <5023-tauta-> things, both <5037-te-> we, and they of that place <1786-entopios->, besought <3870-parakaleo-> him not to go <0305-anabaino-> up to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->.
:13 Then <1161-de-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> answered <0611-apokrinomai->, What <5101-tis-> mean <4160-poieo-> ye to weep <2799-klaio-> and to break <4919-sunthrupto-> mine <3450-mou-> heart <2588-kardia->? for I am ready <2093-hetoimos-> not to be bound <1210-deo-> only <3440-monon->, but also <2532-kai-> to die <0599-apothnesko-> at <1519-eis-> Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem-> for the name <3686-onoma-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->.
:14 And when he would not be persuaded <3982-peitho->, we ceased <2270-hesuchazo->, saying <2036-epo->, The will <2307-thelema-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> be done <1096-ginomai->.
:15. And after <3326-meta-> those <5025-tautais-> days <2250-hemera-> we took <0643-aposkeuazo-> up our carriages <0643-aposkeuazo->, and went <0305-anabaino-> up to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->.
:16 There went <4905-sunerchomai-> with us also <2532-kai-> [certain] of the disciples <3101-mathetes-> of Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->, and brought <0071-ago-> with them one <5100-tis-> Mnason <3416-Mnason-> of Cyprus <2954-Kupros->, an old <0744-archaios-> disciple <3101-mathetes->, with whom <3739-hos-> we should lodge <3579-xenizo->.
:17 And when we were come <1096-ginomai-> to Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->, the brethren <0080-adephos-> received <1209-dechomai-> us gladly <0780-asmenos->.
:18 And the [day] following <1966-epiousa-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> went <1524-eiseimi-> in with us unto James <2385-Iakobos->; and all <3956-pas-> the elders <4245-presbuteros-> were present <3854-paraginomai->.
:19 And when he had saluted <0782-aspazomai-> them, he declared <1834-exegeomai-> particularly <2596-kata-> what <3739-hos-> things God <2316-theos-> had wrought <4160-poieo-> among <1722-en-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> by his ministry <1248-diakonia->.
:20 And when they heard <0191-akouo-> [it], they glorified <1392-doxazo-> the Lord <2962-kurios->, and said <2036-epo-> unto him, Thou seest <2334-theoreo->, brother <0080-adephos->, how <4214-posos-> many <4214-posos-> thousands <3461-murias-> of Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> there are which <3588-ho-> believe <4100-pisteuo->; and they are all <3956-pas-> zealous <2207-zelotes-> of the law <3551-nomos->:
:21 And they are informed <2727-katecheo-> of thee, that thou teachest <1321-didasko-> all <3956-pas-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> which are among <2596-kata-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> to forsake <0575-apo-> Moses <3475-Moseus->, saying <3004-lego-> that they ought not to circumcise <4059-peritemno-> [their] children <5043-teknon->, neither <3366-mede-> to walk <4043-peripateo-> after the customs <1485-ethos->.
:22 What <5101-tis-> is it therefore <3767-oun->? the multitude <4128-plethos-> must <1163-dei-> needs <3843-pantos-> come <4905-sunerchomai-> together <4905-sunerchomai->: for they will hear <0191-akouo-> that thou art come <2064-erchomai->.
:23 Do <4160-poieo-> therefore <3767-oun-> this <5124-touto-> that we say <3004-lego-> to thee: We have <1526-eisi-> four <5064-tessares-> men <0435-aner-> which have <2192-echo-> a vow <2171-euche-> on <1909-epi-> them;
:24 Them take <3880-paralambano->, and purify <0048-hagnizo-> thyself with them, and be at <1159-dapanao-> charges <1159-dapanao-> with them, that they may shave <3587-xurao-> [their] heads <2776-kephale->: and all <3956-pas-> may know <1097-ginosko-> that those things, whereof they were informed <2727-katecheo-> concerning <4012-peri-> thee, are nothing <3762-oudeis->; but [that] thou thyself <0846-autos-> also <2532-kai-> walkest <4748-stoicheo-> orderly <4748-stoicheo->, and keepest <5442-phulasso-> the law <3551-nomos->.
:25 As touching <4012-peri-> the Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> which believe <4100-pisteuo->, we have written <1989-epistello-> [and] concluded <2919-krino-> that they observe <5083-tereo-> no <3367-medeis-> such <5108-toioutos-> thing, save <1508-ei me-> only that they keep <5442-phulasso-> themselves from [things] offered <1494-eidolothuton-> to idols <1494-eidolothuton->, and from blood <0129-haima->, and from strangled <4156-pniktos->, and from fornication <4202-porneia->.
:26 Then <5119-tote-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> took <3880-paralambano-> the men <0435-aner->, and the next <2192-echo-> day <2250-hemera-> purifying <0048-hagnizo-> himself with them entered <1524-eiseimi-> into <1519-eis-> the temple <2411-hieron->, to signify <1229-diaggello-> the accomplishment <1604-ekplerosis-> of the days <2250-hemera-> of purification <0049-hagnismos->, until <2193-heos-> that an offering <4376-prosphora-> should be offered <4374-prosphero-> for every <1538-hekastos-> one <1520-heis-> of them.
:27. And when <5613-hos-> the seven <2033-hepta-> days <2250-hemera-> were almost <3195-mello-> ended <4931-sunteleo->, the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> which were of Asia <0773-Asia->, when they saw <2300-theaomai-> him in the temple <2411-hieron->, stirred <4797-sugcheo-> up all <3956-pas-> the people <3793-ochlos->, and laid <1911-epiballo-> hands <5495-cheir-> on <1909-epi-> him,
:28 Crying <2896-krazo-> out, Men <0435-aner-> of Israel <2475-Israelites->, help <0997-boetheo->: This <3778-houtos-> is the man <0444-anthropos->, that teacheth <1321-didasko-> all <3956-pas-> [men] every <3837-pantachou-> where <3837-pantachou-> against <2596-kata-> the people <2992-laos->, and the law <3551-nomos->, and this <5126-touton-> place <5117-topos->: and further <2089-eti-> brought <1521-eisago-> Greeks <1672-Hellen-> also <2532-kai-> into <1519-eis-> the temple <2411-hieron->, and hath polluted <2840-koinoo-> this <5127-toutou-> holy <0040-hagios-> place <5117-topos->.
:29 (For they had seen <4308-proorao-> before <4308-proorao-> with him in the city <4172-polis-> Trophimus <5161-Trophimos-> an Ephesian <2180-Ephesios->, whom <3739-hos-> they supposed <3543-nomizo-> that Paul <3972-Paulos-> had brought <1521-eisago-> into <1519-eis-> the temple <2411-hieron->.)
:30 And all <3650-holos-> the city <4172-polis-> was moved <2795-kineo->, and the people <2992-laos-> ran <4890-sundrome-> together <4890-sundrome->: and they took <1949-epilambanomai-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, and drew <1670-helkuo-> him out of the temple <2411-hieron->: and forthwith <2112-eutheos-> the doors <2374-thura-> were shut <2808-kleio->.
:31 And as they went <2212-zeteo-> about <2212-zeteo-> to kill <0615-apokteino-> him, tidings <5334-phasis-> came <0305-anabaino-> unto the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> of the band <4686-speira->, that all <3650-holos-> Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem-> was in an uproar <4797-sugcheo->.
:32 Who <3739-hos-> immediately <1824-exautes-> took <3880-paralambano-> soldiers <4757-stratiotes-> and centurions <1543-hekatontarches->, and ran <2701-katatrecho-> down <2701-katatrecho-> unto them: and when they saw <1492-eido-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> and the soldiers <4757-stratiotes->, they left <3973-pauo-> beating <5180-tupto-> of Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:33 Then <5119-tote-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> came <1448-eggizo-> near <1448-eggizo->, and took <1949-epilambanomai-> him, and commanded <2753-keleuo-> [him] to be bound <1210-deo-> with two <1417-duo-> chains <0254-halusis->; and demanded <4441-punthanomai-> who <5101-tis-> he was, and what <5101-tis-> he had done <4160-poieo->.
:34 And some <0243-allos-> cried <0994-boao-> one thing, some <0243-allos-> another <0243-allos->, among <1722-en-> the multitude <3793-ochlos->: and when he could <1410-dunamai-> not know <1097-ginosko-> the certainty <0804-asphales-> for the tumult <2351-thorubos->, he commanded <2753-keleuo-> him to be carried <0071-ago-> into <1519-eis-> the castle <3925-parembole->.
:35 And when <3753-hote-> he came <1096-ginomai-> upon the stairs <0304-anabathmos->, so <4819-sumbaino-> it was, that he was borne <0941-bastazo-> of the soldiers <4757-stratiotes-> for the violence <0970-bia-> of the people <3793-ochlos->.
:36 For the multitude <4128-plethos-> of the people <2992-laos-> followed <0190-akoloutheo-> after, crying <2896-krazo->, Away <0142-airo-> with him.
:37 And as Paul <3972-Paulos-> was to be led <1521-eisago-> into <1519-eis-> the castle <3925-parembole->, he said <3004-lego-> unto the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos->, May <1832-exesti-> I speak <2036-epo-> unto thee? Who <3588-ho-> said <5346-phemi->, Canst <1097-ginosko-> thou speak <1097-ginosko-> Greek <1676-Hellenisti->?
:38 Art <1488-ei-> not thou that Egyptian <0124-Aiguptios->, which before <4253-pro-> these <5130-touton-> days <2250-hemera-> madest <0387-anastatoo-> an uproar <0387-anastatoo->, and leddest <1806-exago-> out into <1519-eis-> the wilderness <2048-eremos-> four <5070-tetrakischilioi-> thousand <5070-tetrakischilioi-> men <0435-aner-> that were murderers <4607-sikarios->?
:39 But Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <2036-epo->, I am <1510-eimi-> a man <0444-anthropos-> [which am] a Jew <2453-Ioudaios-> of Tarsus <5018-Tarseus->, [a city] in Cilicia <2791-Kilikia->, a citizen <4177-polites-> of no <3756-ou-> mean <0767-asemos-> city <4172-polis->: and, I beseech <1189-deomai-> thee, suffer <2010-epitrepo-> me to speak <2980-laleo-> unto the people <2992-laos->.
:40 And when he had given him licence <2010-epitrepo->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> stood <2476-histemi-> on <1909-epi-> the stairs <0304-anabathmos->, and beckoned <2678-kataseio-> with the hand <5495-cheir-> unto the people <2992-laos->. And when there was made <1096-ginomai-> a great <4183-polus-> silence <4602-sige->, he spake <4377-prosphoneo-> unto [them] in the Hebrew <1446-Hebrais-> tongue <1258-dialektos->, saying <3004-lego->,
:Acts 22
:1. Men <0435-aner->, brethren <0080-adephos->, and fathers <3962-pater->, hear <0191-akouo-> ye my defence <0627-apologia-> [which I make] now <3568-nun-> unto you.
:2 (And when they heard <0191-akouo-> that he spake <4377-prosphoneo-> in the Hebrew <1446-Hebrais-> tongue <1258-dialektos-> to them, they kept <3930-parecho-> the more <3123-mallon-> silence <2271-hesuchia->: and he saith <5346-phemi->,)
:3. I am <1510-eimi-> verily <3303-men-> a man <0435-aner-> [which am] a Jew <2453-Ioudaios->, born <1080-gennao-> in Tarsus <5019-Tarsos->, [a city] in Cilicia <2791-Kilikia->, yet brought <0397-anatrepho-> up in this <5026-taute-> city <4172-polis-> at <3844-para-> the feet <4228-pous-> of Gamaliel <1059-Gamaliel->, [and] taught <3811-paideuo-> according <2596-kata-> to the perfect <0195-akribeia-> manner <0195-akribeia-> of the law <3551-nomos-> of the fathers <3971-patroios->, and was zealous <2207-zelotes-> toward God <2316-theos->, as ye all <3956-pas-> are this <4594-semeron-> day <4594-semeron->.
:4 And I persecuted <1377-dioko-> this <5026-taute-> way <3598-hodos-> unto the death <2288-thanatos->, binding <1195-desmeuo-> and delivering <3860-paradidomi-> into <1519-eis-> prisons <5438-phulake-> both <5037-te-> men <0435-aner-> and women <1135-gune->.
:5 As also <2532-kai-> the high <0749-archiereus-> priest <0749-archiereus-> doth bear <3140-martureo-> me witness <3140-martureo->, and all <3956-pas-> the estate of the elders <4244-presbuterion->: from whom <3739-hos-> also <2532-kai-> I received <1209-dechomai-> letters <1992-epistole-> unto the brethren <0080-adephos->, and went <4198-poreuomai-> to Damascus <1154-Damaskos->, to bring <0071-ago-> them which were there <1566-ekeise-> bound <1210-deo-> unto Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, for to be punished <5097-timoreo->.
:6 And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that, as I made <4198-poreuomai-> my journey <4198-poreuomai->, and was come <1448-eggizo-> nigh <1448-eggizo-> unto Damascus <1154-Damaskos-> about <4012-peri-> noon <3314-mesembria->, suddenly <1810-exaiphnes-> there shone <4015-periastrapto-> from heaven <3772-ouranos-> a great <2425-hikanos-> light <5457-phos-> round <4015-periastrapto-> about <4012-peri-> me.
:7 And I fell <4098-pipto-> unto the ground <1475-edaphos->, and heard <0191-akouo-> a voice <5456-phone-> saying <3004-lego-> unto me, Saul <4569-Saulos->, Saul <4569-Saulos->, why <5101-tis-> persecutest <1377-dioko-> thou me?
:8 And I answered <0611-apokrinomai->, Who <5101-tis-> art <1488-ei-> thou, Lord <2962-kurios->? And he said <2036-epo-> unto me, I am <1510-eimi-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> of Nazareth <3478-Nazareth->, whom <3739-hos-> thou persecutest <1377-dioko->.
:9 And they that were with me saw <2300-theaomai-> indeed <3303-men-> the light <5457-phos->, and were afraid <1719-emphobos->; but they heard <0191-akouo-> not the voice <5456-phone-> of him that spake <2980-laleo-> to me.
:10 And I said <2036-epo->, What <5101-tis-> shall I do <4160-poieo->, Lord <2962-kurios->? And the Lord <2962-kurios-> said <2036-epo-> unto me, Arise <0450-anistemi->, and go <4198-poreuomai-> into <1519-eis-> Damascus <1154-Damaskos->; and there <1563-ekei-> it shall be told <2980-laleo-> thee of all <3956-pas-> things which <3739-hos-> are appointed <5021-tasso-> for thee to do <4160-poieo->.
:11 And when <5613-hos-> I could not see <1689-emblepo-> for the glory <1391-doxa-> of that light <5457-phos->, being led <5496-cheiragogeo-> by the hand <5496-cheiragogeo-> of them that were with me, I came <2064-erchomai-> into <1519-eis-> Damascus <1154-Damaskos->.
:12 And one <5100-tis-> Ananias <0367-Ananias->, a devout <2152-eusebes-> man <0435-aner-> according <2596-kata-> to the law <3551-nomos->, having a good report <3140-martureo-> of all <3956-pas-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> which dwelt <2730-katoikeo-> [there],
:13 Came <2064-erchomai-> unto me, and stood <2186-ephistemi->, and said <2036-epo-> unto me, Brother <0080-adephos-> Saul <4569-Saulos->, receive <0308-anablepo-> thy sight <0308-anablepo->. And the same <0846-autos-> hour <5610-hora-> I looked <0308-anablepo-> up upon him.
:14 And he said <2036-epo->, The God <2316-theos-> of our fathers <3962-pater-> hath chosen <4400-procheirizomai-> thee, that thou shouldest know <1097-ginosko-> his will <2307-thelema->, and see <1492-eido-> that Just <1342-dikaios-> One, and shouldest hear <0191-akouo-> the voice <5456-phone-> of his mouth <4750-stoma->.
:15 For thou shalt be his witness <3144-martus-> unto all <3956-pas-> men <0444-anthropos-> of what <3739-hos-> thou hast seen <3708-horao-> and heard <0191-akouo->.
:16 And now <3568-nun-> why <5101-tis-> tarriest <3195-mello-> thou? arise <0450-anistemi->, and be baptized <0907-baptizo->, and wash <0628-apolouo-> away <0628-apolouo-> thy sins <0266-hamartia->, calling <1941-epikaleomai-> on <1941-epikaleomai-> the name <3686-onoma-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->.
:17 And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that, when I was come <5290-hupostrepho-> again <5290-hupostrepho-> to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, even while I prayed <4336-proseuchomai-> in the temple <2411-hieron->, I was in a trance <1611-ekstasis->;
:18 And saw <1492-eido-> him saying <3004-lego-> unto me, Make <4692-speudo-> haste <4692-speudo->, and get <1831-exerchomai-> thee quickly <5034-tachos-> out of Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->: for they will not receive <3858-paradechomai-> thy testimony <3141-marturia-> concerning <4012-peri-> me.
:19 And I said <2036-epo->, Lord <2962-kurios->, they know <1987-epistamai-> that I imprisoned <5439-phulakizo-> and beat <1194-dero-> in every <2596-kata-> synagogue <4864-sunagoge-> them that believed <4100-pisteuo-> on <1909-epi-> thee:
:20 And when <3753-hote-> the blood <0129-haima-> of thy martyr <3144-martus-> Stephen <4736-Stephanos-> was shed <1632-ekcheo->, I also <2532-kai-> was standing <2186-ephistemi-> by, and consenting <4909-suneudokeo-> unto his death <0336-anairesis->, and kept <5442-phulasso-> the raiment <2440-himation-> of them that slew <0337-anaireo-> him.
:21 And he said <2036-epo-> unto me, Depart <4198-poreuomai->: for I will send <1821-exapostello-> thee far <3112-makran-> hence <1821-exapostello-> unto the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->.
:22. And they gave him audience <0191-akouo-> unto this <5127-toutou-> word <3056-logos->, and [then] lifted <1869-epairo-> up their voices <5456-phone->, and said <3004-lego->, Away <0142-airo-> with such <5108-toioutos-> a [fellow] from the earth <1093-ge->: for it is not fit <2520-katheko-> that he should live <2198-zao->.
:23 And as they cried <2905-kraugazo-> out, and cast <4496-rhipto-> off <4496-rhipto-> [their] clothes <2440-himation->, and threw <0906-ballo-> dust <2868-koniortos-> into <1519-eis-> the air <0109-aer->,
:24 The chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> commanded <2753-keleuo-> him to be brought <0071-ago-> into <1519-eis-> the castle <3925-parembole->, and bade <2036-epo-> that he should be examined <0426-anetazo-> by scourging <3148-mastix->; that he might know <1921-epiginosko-> wherefore <3739-hos-> they cried <2019-epiphoneo-> so <3779-houto-> against <2019-epiphoneo-> him.
:25 And as they bound <4385-proteino-> him with thongs <2438-himas->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <2036-epo-> unto the centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> that stood <2476-histemi-> by, Is it lawful <1832-exesti-> for you to scourge <3147-mastizo-> a man <0444-anthropos-> that is a Roman <4514-Rhomaios->, and uncondemned <0178-akatakritos->?
:26 When the centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> heard <0191-akouo-> [that], he went <4334-proserchomai-> and told <0518-apaggello-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos->, saying <3004-lego->, Take heed <3708-horao-> what <5101-tis-> thou doest <4160-poieo->: for this <3778-houtos-> man <0444-anthropos-> is a Roman <4514-Rhomaios->.
:27 Then <1161-de-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> came <4334-proserchomai->, and said <2036-epo-> unto him, Tell <3004-lego-> me, art <1488-ei-> thou a Roman <4514-Rhomaios->? He said <5346-phemi->, Yea <3483-nai->.
:28 And the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> answered <0611-apokrinomai->, With a great <4183-polus-> sum <2774-kephalaion-> obtained <2932-ktaomai-> I this <5026-taute-> freedom <4174-politeia->. And Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <5346-phemi->, But I was [free] born <1080-gennao->.
:29 Then <3767-oun-> straightway <2112-eutheos-> they departed <0868-aphistemi-> from him which <3588-ho-> should <3195-mello-> have examined <0426-anetazo-> him: and the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> also <2532-kai-> was afraid <5399-phobeo->, after he knew <1921-epiginosko-> that he was a Roman <4514-Rhomaios->, and because <3754-hoti-> he had bound <1210-deo-> him.
:30 On the morrow <1887-epaurion->, because he would have known <1097-ginosko-> the certainty <0804-asphales-> wherefore <5101-tis-> he was accused <2723-kategoreo-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, he loosed <3089-luo-> him from [his] bands <1199-desmon->, and commanded <2753-keleuo-> the chief <0749-archiereus-> priests <0749-archiereus-> and all <3650-holos-> their council <4892-sunedrion-> to appear <2064-erchomai->, and brought <2609-katago-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> down <2609-katago->, and set <2476-histemi-> him before <1519-eis-> them.
:Acts 23
:1. And Paul <3972-Paulos->, earnestly <0816-atenizo-> beholding <0816-atenizo-> the council <4892-sunedrion->, said <2036-epo->, Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, I have lived <4176-politeuomai-> in all <3956-pas-> good <0018-agathos-> conscience <4893-suneidesis-> before God <2316-theos-> until <0891-achri-> this <5026-taute-> day <2250-hemera->.
:2 And the high <0749-archiereus-> priest <0749-archiereus-> Ananias <0367-Ananias-> commanded <2004-epitasso-> them that stood <3936-paristemi-> by him to smite <5180-tupto-> him on the mouth <4750-stoma->.
:3 Then <5119-tote-> said <2036-epo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> unto him, God <2316-theos-> shall smite <5180-tupto-> thee, [thou] whited <2867-koniao-> wall <5109-toichos->: for sittest <2521-kathemai-> thou to judge <2919-krino-> me after <2596-kata-> the law <3551-nomos->, and commandest <2753-keleuo-> me to be smitten <5180-tupto-> contrary <3891-paranomeo-> to the law <3891-paranomeo->?
:4 And they that stood <3936-paristemi-> by said <2036-epo->, Revilest <3058-loidoreo-> thou God's <2316-theos-> high <0749-archiereus-> priest <0749-archiereus->?
:5 Then <5037-te-> said <5346-phemi-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, I wist <1492-eido-> not, brethren <0080-adephos->, that he was the high <0749-archiereus-> priest <0749-archiereus->: for it is written <1125-grapho->, Thou shalt not speak <2046-ereo-> evil <2560-kakos-> of the ruler <0758-archon-> of thy people <2992-laos->.
:6. But when Paul <3972-Paulos-> perceived <1097-ginosko-> that the one <1520-heis-> part <3313-meros-> were Sadducees <4523-Saddoukaios->, and the other <2087-heteros-> Pharisees <5330-Pharisaios->, he cried <2896-krazo-> out in the council <4892-sunedrion->, Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, I am <1510-eimi-> a Pharisee <5330-Pharisaios->, the son <5207-huios-> of a Pharisee <5330-Pharisaios->: of the hope <1680-elpis-> and resurrection <0386-anastasis-> of the dead <3498-nekros-> I am called <2919-krino-> in question <2919-krino->.
:7 And when he had so <5124-touto-> said <2980-laleo->, there arose <1096-ginomai-> a dissension <4714-stasis-> between the Pharisees <5330-Pharisaios-> and the Sadducees <4523-Saddoukaios->: and the multitude <4128-plethos-> was divided <4977-schizo->.
:8 For the Sadducees <4523-Saddoukaios-> say <3004-lego-> that there is no <3361-me-> resurrection <0386-anastasis->, neither <3366-mede-> angel <0032-aggelos->, nor <3383-mete-> spirit <4151-pneuma->: but the Pharisees <5330-Pharisaios-> confess <3670-homologeo-> both <0297-amphoteros->.
:9 And there arose <1096-ginomai-> a great <3173-megas-> cry <2906-krauge->: and the scribes <1122-grammateus-> [that were] of the Pharisees <5330-Pharisaios->' part <3313-meros-> arose <0450-anistemi->, and strove <1264-diamachomai->, saying <3004-lego->, We find <2147-heurisko-> no <3762-oudeis-> evil <2556-kakos-> in this <5129-toutoi-> man <0444-anthropos->: but if <1487-ei-> a spirit <4151-pneuma-> or <2228-e-> an angel <0032-aggelos-> hath spoken <2980-laleo-> to him, let us not fight <2313-theomacheo-> against God <2313-theomacheo->.
:10 And when there arose <1096-ginomai-> a great <4183-polus-> dissension <4714-stasis->, the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos->, fearing <2125-eulabeomai-> lest <3361-me-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> should have been pulled <1288-diaspao-> in pieces <1288-diaspao-> of them, commanded <2753-keleuo-> the soldiers <4753-strateuma-> to go <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino->, and to take <0726-harpazo-> him by force <0726-harpazo-> from among <3319-mesos-> them, and to bring <0071-ago-> [him] into <1519-eis-> the castle <3925-parembole->.
:11 And the night <3571-nux-> following the Lord <2962-kurios-> stood <2186-ephistemi-> by him, and said <2036-epo->, Be of good cheer <2293-tharseo->, Paul <3972-Paulos->: for as thou hast testified <1263-diamarturomai-> of me in Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, so <3779-houto-> must <1163-dei-> thou bear <3140-martureo-> witness <3140-martureo-> also <2532-kai-> at <1519-eis-> Rome <4516-Rhome->.
:12. And when it was day <2250-hemera->, certain <5100-tis-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> banded <4963-sustrophe-> together <4966-Suchem->, and bound <0332-anathematizo-> themselves <1438-heautou-> under <0332-anathematizo-> a curse <0332-anathematizo->, saying <3004-lego-> that they would neither <3383-mete-> eat <5315-phago-> nor drink <4095-pino-> till <2193-heos-> they had killed <0615-apokteino-> Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:13 And they were more <4119-pleion-> than forty <5062-tessarakonta-> which <3588-ho-> had made <4160-poieo-> this <5026-taute-> conspiracy <4945-sunomosia->.
:14 And they came <4334-proserchomai-> to the chief <0749-archiereus-> priests <0749-archiereus-> and elders <4245-presbuteros->, and said <2036-epo->, We have bound <0332-anathematizo-> ourselves <1438-heautou-> under <0332-anathematizo-> a great curse <0332-anathematizo->, that we will eat <1089-geuomai-> nothing <3367-medeis-> until <2193-heos-> we have slain <0615-apokteino-> Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:15 Now <3568-nun-> therefore <3767-oun-> ye with the council <4892-sunedrion-> signify <1718-emphanizo-> to the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> that he bring <2609-katago-> him down <2609-katago-> unto you to morrow <0839-aurion->, as though ye would <3195-mello-> enquire <1231-diaginosko-> something more <0197-akribesteron-> perfectly <0197-akribesteron-> concerning <4012-peri-> him: and we, or <4253-pro-> ever <4253-pro-> he come <1448-eggizo-> near <1448-eggizo->, are ready <2092-hetoimos-> to kill <0337-anaireo-> him.
:16 And when Paul's <3972-Paulos-> sister's <0079-adelphe-> son <5207-huios-> heard <0191-akouo-> of their lying in wait <1747-enedra->, he went <3854-paraginomai-> and entered <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> the castle <3925-parembole->, and told <0518-apaggello-> Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:17 Then <1161-de-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> called <4341-proskaleomai-> one <1520-heis-> of the centurions <1543-hekatontarches-> unto [him], and said <5346-phemi->, Bring <0520-apago-> this <5126-touton-> young <3494-neanias-> man <3494-neanias-> unto the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos->: for he hath <2192-echo-> a certain <5100-tis-> thing to tell <0518-apaggello-> him.
:18 So <3767-oun-> he took <3880-paralambano-> him, and brought <0071-ago-> [him] to the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos->, and said <5346-phemi->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> the prisoner <1198-desmios-> called <4341-proskaleomai-> me unto [him], and prayed <2065-erotao-> me to bring <0071-ago-> this <5126-touton-> young <3494-neanias-> man <3494-neanias-> unto thee, who hath <2192-echo-> something <5100-tis-> to say <2980-laleo-> unto thee.
:19 Then <1161-de-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> took <1949-epilambanomai-> him by the hand <5495-cheir->, and went <0402-anachoreo-> [with him] aside <0402-anachoreo-> privately <2398-idios->, and asked <2065-erotao-> [him], What <5101-tis-> is that thou hast <2192-echo-> to tell <0518-apaggello-> me?
:20 And he said <2036-epo->, The Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> have agreed <4934-suntithemai-> to desire <2065-erotao-> thee that thou wouldest bring <2609-katago-> down <2609-katago-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> to morrow <0839-aurion-> into <1519-eis-> the council <4892-sunedrion->, as though they would <3195-mello-> enquire <4441-punthanomai-> somewhat <5100-tis-> of him more <0197-akribesteron-> perfectly <0197-akribesteron->.
:21 But do not thou yield <3982-peitho-> unto them: for there lie in wait <1748-enedreuo-> for him of them more <4119-pleion-> than forty <5062-tessarakonta-> men <0435-aner->, which <3748-hostis-> have bound <0332-anathematizo-> themselves <1438-heautou-> with an oath <0332-anathematizo->, that they will neither <3383-mete-> eat <5315-phago-> nor drink <4095-pino-> till <2193-heos-> they have killed <0337-anaireo-> him: and now <3568-nun-> are they ready <2092-hetoimos->, looking <4327-prosdechomai-> for a promise <1860-epaggelia-> from thee.
:22 So <3767-oun-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> [then] let <0630-apoluo-> the young <3494-neanias-> man <3494-neanias-> depart <0630-apoluo->, and charged <3853-paraggello-> [him, See thou] tell <1583-eklaleo-> no <3367-medeis-> man <3367-medeis-> that thou hast shewed <1718-emphanizo-> these <5023-tauta-> things to me.
:23 And he called <4341-proskaleomai-> unto [him] two <1417-duo-> centurions <1543-hekatontarches->, saying <2036-epo->, Make <2090-hetoimazo-> ready <2090-hetoimazo-> two <1250-diakosioi-> hundred <1250-diakosioi-> soldiers <4757-stratiotes-> to go <4198-poreuomai-> to Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->, and horsemen <2460-hippeus-> threescore <1440-hebdomekonta-> and ten, and spearmen <1187-dexiolabos-> two <1250-diakosioi-> hundred <1250-diakosioi->, at <0575-apo-> the third <5154-tritos-> hour <5610-hora-> of the night <3571-nux->;
:24 And provide <3936-paristemi-> [them] beasts <2934-ktenos->, that they may set <1913-epibibazo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> on <1913-epibibazo->, and bring <1295-diasozo-> [him] safe <1295-diasozo-> unto Felix <5344-Phelix-> the governor <2232-hegemon->.
:25 And he wrote <1125-grapho-> a letter <1992-epistole-> after <4023-periecho-> this <5126-touton-> manner <5179-tupos->:
:26 Claudius <2804-Klaudios-> Lysias <3079-Lusias-> unto the most <2903-kratistos-> excellent <2903-kratistos-> governor <2232-hegemon-> Felix <5344-Phelix-> [sendeth] greeting <5463-chairo->.
:27 This <5126-touton-> man <0435-aner-> was taken <4815-sullambano-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, and should <3195-mello-> have been killed <0615-apokteino-> of them: then came <2186-ephistemi-> I with an army <4753-strateuma->, and rescued <1807-exaireo-> him, having understood <3129-manthano-> that he was a Roman <4514-Rhomaios->.
:28 And when I would have known <1097-ginosko-> the cause <0156-aitia-> wherefore <3739-hos-> they accused <1458-egkaleo-> him, I brought <2609-katago-> him forth <2609-katago-> into <1519-eis-> their council <4892-sunedrion->:
:29 Whom <3739-hos-> I perceived <2147-heurisko-> to be accused <1458-egkaleo-> of questions <2213-zetema-> of their law <3551-nomos->, but to have <2192-echo-> nothing <3367-medeis-> laid <1462-egklema-> to his charge <1462-egklema-> worthy <0514-axios-> of death <0336-anairesis-> or <2228-e-> of bonds <1199-desmon->.
:30 And when it was told <3377-menuo-> me how that the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> laid <2071-esomai-> wait <1917-epiboule-> for the man <0435-aner->, I sent <3992-pempo-> straightway <1824-exautes-> to thee, and gave commandment <3853-paraggello-> to his accusers <2725-kategoros-> also <2532-kai-> to say <3004-lego-> before <1909-epi-> thee what <3588-ho-> [they had] against <4314-pros-> him. Farewell <4517-rhonnumi->.
:31 Then <3767-oun-> the soldiers <4757-stratiotes->, as it was commanded <1299-diatasso-> them, took <0353-analambano-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, and brought <0071-ago-> [him] by night <3571-nux-> to Antipatris <0494-Antipatris->.
:32 On the morrow <1887-epaurion-> they left <1439-eao-> the horsemen <2460-hippeus-> to go <4198-poreuomai-> with him, and returned <5290-hupostrepho-> to the castle <3925-parembole->:
:33 Who <3748-hostis->, when they came <1525-eiserchomai-> to Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->, and delivered <0325-anadidomi-> the epistle <1992-epistole-> to the governor <2232-hegemon->, presented <3936-paristemi-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> also <2532-kai-> before him.
:34 And when the governor <2232-hegemon-> had read <0314-anaginosko-> [the letter], he asked <1905-eperotao-> of what <4169-poios-> province <1885-eparchia-> he was. And when he understood <4441-punthanomai-> that [he was] of Cilicia <2791-Kilikia->;
:35 I will hear <1251-diakouomai-> thee, said <5346-phemi-> he, when <3752-hotan-> thine <4675-sou-> accusers <2725-kategoros-> are also <2532-kai-> come <3854-paraginomai->. And he commanded <2753-keleuo-> him to be kept <5442-phulasso-> in Herod's <2264-Herodes-> judgment <4232-praitorion-> hall <4232-praitorion->.
:Acts 24
:1. And after <3326-meta-> five <4002-pente-> days <2250-hemera-> Ananias <0367-Ananias-> the high <0749-archiereus-> priest <0749-archiereus-> descended <2597-katabaino-> with the elders <4245-presbuteros->, and [with] a certain <5100-tis-> orator <4489-rhetor-> [named] Tertullus <5061-Tertullos->, who <3748-hostis-> informed <1718-emphanizo-> the governor <2232-hegemon-> against <2596-kata-> Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:2 And when he was called <2564-kaleo-> forth <2564-kaleo->, Tertullus <5061-Tertullos-> began <0756-archomai-> to accuse <2723-kategoreo-> [him], saying <3004-lego->, Seeing that by thee we enjoy <5177-tugchano-> great <4183-polus-> quietness <1515-eirene->, and that very <2735-katorthoma-> worthy <2735-katorthoma-> deeds <2735-katorthoma-> are done <1096-ginomai-> unto this <5129-toutoi-> nation <1484-ethnos-> by thy providence <4307-pronoia->,
:3 We accept <0588-apodechomai-> [it] always <3839-pante->, and in all <3837-pantachou-> places <3837-pantachou->, most <2903-kratistos-> noble <2903-kratistos-> Felix <5344-Phelix->, with all <3956-pas-> thankfulness <2169-eucharistia->.
:4 Notwithstanding, that I be not further <4208-porrhotero-> tedious <1465-egkopto-> unto thee, I pray <3870-parakaleo-> thee that thou wouldest hear <0191-akouo-> us of thy clemency <1932-epieikeia-> a few <4935-suntomos-> words.
:5 For we have found <2147-heurisko-> this <5126-touton-> man <0435-aner-> [a] pestilent <3061-loimos-> [fellow], and a mover <2795-kineo-> of sedition <4714-stasis-> among all <3956-pas-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> throughout <2596-kata-> the world <3625-oikoumene->, and a ringleader <4414-protostates-> of the sect <0139-hairesis-> of the Nazarenes <3480-Nazoraios->:
:6 Who <3739-hos-> also <2532-kai-> hath gone <3985-peirazo-> about <3985-peirazo-> to profane <0953-bebeloo-> the temple <2411-hieron->: whom <3739-hos-> we took <2902-krateo->, and would <2309-thelo-> have judged <2919-krino-> according <2596-kata-> to our law <3551-nomos->.
:7 But the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> Lysias <3079-Lusias-> came <3928-parerchomai-> [upon us], and with great <4183-polus-> violence <0970-bia-> took <0520-apago-> [him] away <0520-apago-> out of our hands <5495-cheir->,
:8 Commanding <2753-keleuo-> his accusers <2725-kategoros-> to come <2064-erchomai-> unto thee: by examining <0350-anakrino-> of whom <3739-hos-> thyself <0846-autos-> mayest take knowledge <1921-epiginosko-> of all <3956-pas-> these <5130-touton-> things, whereof <3739-hos-> we accuse <2723-kategoreo-> him.
:9 And the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> also <2532-kai-> assented <4934-suntithemai->, saying <5335-phasko-> that these <5023-tauta-> things were so <3779-houto->.
:10. Then <1161-de-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, after that the governor <2232-hegemon-> had beckoned <3506-neuo-> unto him to speak <3004-lego->, answered <0611-apokrinomai->, Forasmuch as I know <1987-epistamai-> that thou hast been <5607-on-> of many <4183-polus-> years <2094-etos-> a judge <2923-krites-> unto this <5129-toutoi-> nation <1484-ethnos->, I do the more <2115-euthumos-> cheerfully <2115-euthumos-> answer <0626-apologeomai-> for myself <1683-emautou->:
:11 Because that thou mayest understand <1097-ginosko->, that there are yet but twelve <1177-dekaduo-> days <2250-hemera-> since <3739-hos-> I went <0305-anabaino-> up to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem-> for to worship <4352-proskuneo->.
:12 And they neither <3777-oute-> found <2147-heurisko-> me in the temple <2411-hieron-> disputing <1256-dialegomai-> with any <5100-tis-> man, neither <2228-e-> raising <1999-episustasis-> up the people <3793-ochlos->, neither <2228-e-> in the synagogues <4864-sunagoge->, nor <3777-oute-> in the city <4172-polis->:
:13 Neither <2228-e-> can <1410-dunamai-> they prove <3936-paristemi-> the things whereof <3739-hos-> they now <3568-nun-> accuse <2723-kategoreo-> me.
:14 But this <5124-touto-> I confess <3670-homologeo-> unto thee, that after <2596-kata-> the way <3598-hodos-> which <3739-hos-> they call <3004-lego-> heresy <0139-hairesis->, so <3779-houto-> worship <3000-latreuo-> I the God <2316-theos-> of my fathers <3971-patroios->, believing <4100-pisteuo-> all <3956-pas-> things which <3588-ho-> are written <1125-grapho-> in the law <3551-nomos-> and in the prophets <4396-prophetes->:
:15 And have <2192-echo-> hope <1680-elpis-> toward <1519-eis-> God <2316-theos->, which <3739-hos-> they themselves <0846-autos-> also <2532-kai-> allow <4327-prosdechomai->, that there shall be a resurrection <0386-anastasis-> of the dead <3498-nekros->, both <5037-te-> of the just <1342-dikaios-> and unjust <0094-adikos->.
:16 And herein <5129-toutoi-> do I exercise <0778-askeo-> myself, to have <2192-echo-> always <1275-diapantos-> a conscience <4893-suneidesis-> void <0677-aproskopos-> of offence <0677-aproskopos-> toward <4314-pros-> God <2316-theos->, and [toward] men <0444-anthropos->.
:17 Now <1161-de-> after <1223-dia-> many <4119-pleion-> years <2094-etos-> I came <3854-paraginomai-> to bring <4160-poieo-> alms <1654-eleemosune-> to my nation <1484-ethnos->, and offerings <4376-prosphora->.
:18 Whereupon <3739-hos-> certain <5100-tis-> Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> from Asia <0773-Asia-> found <2147-heurisko-> me purified <0048-hagnizo-> in the temple <2411-hieron->, neither <3756-ou-> with multitude <3793-ochlos->, nor <3761-oude-> with tumult <2351-thorubos->.
:19 Who <3739-hos-> ought <1163-dei-> to have been <3918-pareimi-> here <3918-pareimi-> before <1909-epi-> thee, and object <2723-kategoreo->, if <1487-ei-> they had <2192-echo-> ought <5100-tis-> against <4314-pros-> me.
:20 Or <2228-e-> else let these <3778-houtos-> same <3778-houtos-> [here] say <2036-epo->, if <1487-ei-> they have found <2147-heurisko-> any <1536-ei tis-> evil <0092-adikema-> doing <0092-adikema-> in me, while I stood <2476-histemi-> before <1909-epi-> the council <4892-sunedrion->,
:21 Except <2228-e-> it be for this <5026-taute-> one <3391-mia-> voice <5456-phone->, that I cried <2896-krazo-> standing <2476-histemi-> among <1722-en-> them, Touching <4012-peri-> the resurrection <0386-anastasis-> of the dead <3498-nekros-> I am called <2919-krino-> in question <2919-krino-> by you this <4594-semeron-> day <4594-semeron->.
:22. And when Felix <5344-Phelix-> heard <0191-akouo-> these <5023-tauta-> things, having more <0197-akribesteron-> perfect <0197-akribesteron-> knowledge <1492-eido-> of [that] way <3598-hodos->, he deferred <0306-anaballomai-> them, and said <2036-epo->, When <3752-hotan-> Lysias <3079-Lusias-> the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captain <5506-chiliarchos-> shall come <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino->, I will know <1231-diaginosko-> the uttermost <2556-kakos-> of your <5209-humas-> matter <2596-kata->.
:23 And he commanded <1299-diatasso-> a centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> to keep <5083-tereo-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, and to let [him] have <2192-echo-> liberty <0425-anesis->, and that he should forbid <2967-koluo-> none <3367-medeis-> of his acquaintance <2398-idios-> to minister <5256-hupereteo-> or <2228-e-> come <4334-proserchomai-> unto him.
:24 And after <3326-meta-> certain <5100-tis-> days <2250-hemera->, when Felix <5344-Phelix-> came <3854-paraginomai-> with his wife <1135-gune-> Drusilla <1409-Drousilla->, which was a Jewess <2453-Ioudaios->, he sent <3343-metapempo-> for Paul <3972-Paulos->, and heard <0191-akouo-> him concerning <4012-peri-> the faith <4102-pistis-> in Christ <5547-Christos->.
:25 And as he reasoned <1256-dialegomai-> of righteousness <1343-dikaiosune->, temperance <1466-egkrateia->, and judgment <2917-krima-> to come <1511-einai->, Felix <5344-Phelix-> trembled <1096-ginomai->, and answered <0611-apokrinomai->, Go <4198-poreuomai-> thy way for this <3568-nun-> time <3568-nun->; when I have <3335-metalambano-> a convenient <2540-kairos-> season <2540-kairos->, I will call <3333-metakaleo-> for thee.
:26 He hoped <1679-elpizo-> also <2532-kai-> that money <5536-chrema-> should have been given <1325-didomi-> him of Paul <3972-Paulos->, that he might loose <3089-luo-> him: wherefore <1352-dio-> he sent <3343-metapempo-> for him the oftener <4437-puknos->, and communed <3656-homileo-> with him.
:27 But after <4137-pleroo-> two <1333-dietia-> years <1333-dietia-> Porcius <4201-Porkios-> Festus <5347-Phestos-> came <1240-diadochos-> into Felix <5344-Phelix->' room <1240-diadochos->: and Felix <5344-Phelix->, willing <2309-thelo-> to shew <2698-katatithemi-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> a pleasure <5485-charis->, left <2641-kataleipo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> bound <1210-deo->.
:Acts 25
:1. Now <3767-oun-> when Festus <5347-Phestos-> was come <1910-epibaino-> into the province <1885-eparchia->, after <3326-meta-> three <5140-treis-> days <2250-hemera-> he ascended <0305-anabaino-> from Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia-> to Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->.
:2 Then <1161-de-> the high <0749-archiereus-> priest <0749-archiereus-> and the chief <4413-protos-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> informed <1718-emphanizo-> him against <2596-kata-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, and besought <3870-parakaleo-> him,
:3 And desired <0154-aiteo-> favour <5485-charis-> against <2596-kata-> him, that he would send <3343-metapempo-> for him to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, laying <4160-poieo-> wait <1747-enedra-> in the way <3598-hodos-> to kill <0337-anaireo-> him.
:4 But Festus <5347-Phestos-> answered <0611-apokrinomai->, that Paul <3972-Paulos-> should be kept <5083-tereo-> at <1722-en-> Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->, and that he himself <1438-heautou-> would <3195-mello-> depart <1607-ekporeuomai-> shortly <5034-tachos-> [thither].
:5 Let them therefore <3767-oun->, said <5346-phemi-> he, which among <1722-en-> you are able <1415-dunatos->, go <4782-sugkatabaino-> down <4782-sugkatabaino-> with [me], and accuse <2723-kategoreo-> this <0846-autos-> man <0435-aner->, if <1487-ei-> there be any <1536-ei tis-> wickedness <0824-atopos-> in him.
:6 And when he had tarried <1304-diatribo-> among <1722-en-> them more <4119-pleion-> than <2228-e-> ten <1176-deka-> days <2250-hemera->, he went <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino-> unto Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia->; and the next <1887-epaurion-> day <1887-epaurion-> sitting <2523-kathizo-> on <1909-epi-> the judgment <0968-bema-> seat <0968-bema-> commanded <2753-keleuo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> to be brought <0071-ago->.
:7 And when he was come <3854-paraginomai->, the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> which came <2597-katabaino-> down <2597-katabaino-> from Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma-> stood <4026-periistemi-> round <4026-periistemi-> about <3936-paristemi->, and laid <5342-phero-> many <4183-polus-> and grievous <0926-barus-> complaints <0157-aitiama-> against <2596-kata-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, which <3588-ho-> they could <2480-ischuo-> not prove <0584-apodeiknumi->.
:8 While he answered <0626-apologeomai-> for himself, Neither <3777-oute-> against <1519-eis-> the law <3551-nomos-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, neither <3777-oute-> against <1519-eis-> the temple <2411-hieron->, nor <3777-oute-> yet against <1519-eis-> Caesar <2541-Kaisar->, have I offended <0264-hamartano-> any <5100-tis-> thing at all.
:9 But Festus <5347-Phestos->, willing <2309-thelo-> to do <2698-katatithemi-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> a pleasure <5485-charis->, answered <0611-apokrinomai-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, and said <2036-epo->, Wilt thou go <0305-anabaino-> up to Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->, and there <1563-ekei-> be judged <2919-krino-> of these <5130-touton-> things before <1909-epi-> me?
:10 Then <1161-de-> said <2036-epo-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, I stand <2476-histemi-> at <1909-epi-> Caesar's <2541-Kaisar-> judgment <0968-bema-> seat <0968-bema->, where <3757-hou-> I ought <1163-dei-> to be judged <2919-krino->: to the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> have I done <0091-adikeo-> no <3762-oudeis-> wrong <0091-adikeo->, as thou very <2566-kallion-> well <2573-kalos-> knowest <1921-epiginosko->.
:11 For if <1487-ei-> I be an offender <0091-adikeo->, or <2532-kai-> have committed <4238-prasso-> any <5100-tis-> thing worthy <0514-axios-> of death <0336-anairesis->, I refuse <3868-paraiteomai-> not to die <0599-apothnesko->: but if <1487-ei-> there be none <3762-oudeis-> of these things whereof <3739-hos-> these <3778-houtos-> accuse <2723-kategoreo-> me, no <3762-oudeis-> man <3762-oudeis-> may <1410-dunamai-> deliver <5483-charizomai-> me unto them. I appeal <1941-epikaleomai-> unto Caesar <2541-Kaisar->.
:12 Then <5119-tote-> Festus <5347-Phestos->, when he had conferred <4814-sullaleo-> with the council <4824-sumboulion->, answered <0611-apokrinomai->, Hast thou appealed <1941-epikaleomai-> unto Caesar <2541-Kaisar->? unto Caesar <2541-Kaisar-> shalt thou go <4198-poreuomai->.
:13. And after <1230-diaginomai-> certain <5100-tis-> days <2250-hemera-> king <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas-> and Bernice <0959-Bernike-> came <2658-katantao-> unto Caesarea <2542-Kaisereia-> to salute <0782-aspazomai-> Festus <5347-Phestos->.
:14 And when <5613-hos-> they had been <1304-diatribo-> there <1563-ekei-> many <4119-pleion-> days <2250-hemera->, Festus <5347-Phestos-> declared <0394-anatithemai-> Paul's <3972-Paulos-> cause <2596-kata-> unto the king <0935-basileus->, saying <3004-lego->, There is a certain <5100-tis-> man <0435-aner-> left <2641-kataleipo-> in bonds <1198-desmios-> by Felix <5344-Phelix->:
:15 About <4012-peri-> whom <3739-hos->, when I was at <1519-eis-> Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->, the chief <0749-archiereus-> priests <0749-archiereus-> and the elders <4245-presbuteros-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> informed <1718-emphanizo-> [me], desiring <0154-aiteo-> [to have] judgment <1349-dike-> against <2596-kata-> him.
:16 To whom <3739-hos-> I answered <0611-apokrinomai->, It is not the manner <1485-ethos-> of the Romans <4514-Rhomaios-> to deliver <5483-charizomai-> any <5100-tis-> man <0444-anthropos-> to die <0684-apoleia->, before <4250-prin-> that he which is accused <2723-kategoreo-> have <2192-echo-> the accusers <2725-kategoros-> face <4383-prosopon-> to face <4383-prosopon->, and have <2983-lambano-> licence <5117-topos-> to answer <0627-apologia-> for himself concerning <4012-peri-> the crime <1462-egklema-> laid <1462-egklema-> against him.
:17 Therefore <3767-oun->, when they were come <4905-sunerchomai-> hither <1759-enthade->, without <4160-poieo-> any <3362-ean me-> delay <0311-anabole-> on <1909-epi-> the morrow <1836-hexes-> I sat <2523-kathizo-> on <1909-epi-> the judgment <0968-bema-> seat <0968-bema->, and commanded <2753-keleuo-> the man <0435-aner-> to be brought <0071-ago-> forth.
:18 Against <4012-peri-> whom <3739-hos-> when the accusers <2725-kategoros-> stood <2476-histemi-> up, they brought <2018-epiphero-> none <3762-oudeis-> accusation <0156-aitia-> of such things as I supposed <5282-huponoeo->:
:19 But had <2192-echo-> certain <5100-tis-> questions <2213-zetema-> against <4314-pros-> him of their own <2398-idios-> superstition <1175-deisidaimonia->, and of one <5100-tis-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, which was dead <2348-thnesko->, whom <3739-hos-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> affirmed <5335-phasko-> to be alive <2198-zao->.
:20 And because I doubted <0639-aporeo-> of such manner <4012-peri-> of questions <2214-zetesis->, I asked <3004-lego-> [him] whether <1487-ei-> he would go <4198-poreuomai-> to Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, and there <1563-ekei-> be judged <2919-krino-> of these <5130-touton-> matters.
:21 But when Paul <3972-Paulos-> had appealed <1941-epikaleomai-> to be reserved <5083-tereo-> unto the hearing <1233-diagnosis-> of Augustus <0828-Augoustos->, I commanded <2753-keleuo-> him to be kept <5083-tereo-> till <2193-heos-> I might send <3992-pempo-> him to Caesar <2541-Kaisar->.
:22 Then <1161-de-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas-> said <5346-phemi-> unto Festus <5347-Phestos->, I would also <2532-kai-> hear <0191-akouo-> the man <0444-anthropos-> myself. To morrow <0839-aurion->, said <5346-phemi-> he, thou shalt hear <0191-akouo-> him.
:23 And on the morrow <1887-epaurion->, when Agrippa <0067-Agrippas-> was come <2064-erchomai->, and Bernice <0959-Bernike->, with great <4183-polus-> pomp <5325-phantasia->, and was entered <1525-eiserchomai-> into <1519-eis-> the place <0201-akroaterion-> of hearing <0201-akroaterion->, with the chief <5506-chiliarchos-> captains <5506-chiliarchos->, and principal <1851-exoche-> men <0435-aner-> of the city <4172-polis->, at Festus <5347-Phestos->' commandment <2753-keleuo-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> was brought <0071-ago-> forth.
:24 And Festus <5347-Phestos-> said <5346-phemi->, King <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas->, and all <3956-pas-> men <0435-aner-> which <3588-ho-> are here <4840-sumpareimi-> present <4840-sumpareimi-> with us, ye see <2334-theoreo-> this <5126-touton-> man, about <4012-peri-> whom <3739-hos-> all <3956-pas-> the multitude <4128-plethos-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> have dealt <1793-entugchano-> with me, both <5037-te-> at <1722-en-> Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->, and [also] here <1759-enthade->, crying <1916-epiboao-> that he ought <1163-dei-> not to live <2198-zao-> any <3371-meketi-> longer <3371-meketi->.
:25 But when I found <2638-katalambano-> that he had committed <4238-prasso-> nothing <3367-medeis-> worthy <0514-axios-> of death <0336-anairesis->, and that he himself <0848-hautou-> hath appealed <1941-epikaleomai-> to Augustus <0828-Augoustos->, I have determined <2919-krino-> to send <3992-pempo-> him.
:26 Of whom <3739-hos-> I have <2192-echo-> no <3756-ou-> certain <0804-asphales-> thing to write <1125-grapho-> unto my lord <2962-kurios->. Wherefore <1352-dio-> I have brought <4254-proago-> him forth <4254-proago-> before <1909-epi-> you, and specially <3122-malista-> before <1909-epi-> thee, O king <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas->, that, after examination <0351-anakrisis-> had <1096-ginomai->, I might have <2192-echo-> somewhat <5100-tis-> to write <1125-grapho->.
:27 For it seemeth <1380-dokeo-> to me unreasonable <0249-alogos-> to send <3992-pempo-> a prisoner <1198-desmios->, and not withal to signify <4591-semaino-> the crimes <0156-aitia-> [laid] against <2596-kata-> him.
:Acts 26
:1. Then <1161-de-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas-> said <5346-phemi-> unto Paul <3972-Paulos->, Thou art permitted <2010-epitrepo-> to speak <3004-lego-> for thyself <4572-seautou->. Then <5119-tote-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> stretched <1614-ekteino-> forth <1614-ekteino-> the hand <5495-cheir->, and answered <0626-apologeomai-> for himself:
:2 I think <2233-hegeomai-> myself <1683-emautou-> happy <3107-makarios->, king <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas->, because I shall answer <0626-apologeomai-> for myself this <4594-semeron-> day <4594-semeron-> before <1909-epi-> thee touching <4012-peri-> all <3956-pas-> the things whereof <3739-hos-> I am accused <1458-egkaleo-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->:
:3 Especially <3122-malista-> [because I know] thee to be expert <1109-gnostes-> in all <3956-pas-> customs <1485-ethos-> and questions <2213-zetema-> which are among <2596-kata-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->: wherefore <1352-dio-> I beseech <1189-deomai-> thee to hear <0191-akouo-> me patiently <3116-makrothumos->.
:4 My manner <0981-biosis-> of life <0981-biosis-> from my youth <3503-neotes->, which <3588-ho-> was at <0575-apo-> the first <0746-arche-> among <1722-en-> mine <3450-mou-> own nation <1484-ethnos-> at <1722-en-> Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->, know <2467-isemi-> all <3956-pas-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->;
:5 Which knew <4267-proginosko-> me from the beginning <0509-anothen->, if <1437-ean-> they would <2309-thelo-> testify <3140-martureo->, that after <2596-kata-> the most straitest <0196-akribestatos-> sect <0139-hairesis-> of our religion <2356-threskeia-> I lived <2198-zao-> a Pharisee <5330-Pharisaios->.
:6 And now <3568-nun-> I stand <2476-histemi-> and am judged <2919-krino-> for the hope <1680-elpis-> of the promise <1860-epaggelia-> made <1096-ginomai-> of God <2316-theos-> unto our fathers <3962-pater->:
:7 Unto which <3739-hos-> [promise] our twelve <1429-dodekaphulon-> tribes <1429-dodekaphulon->, instantly <1616-ekteneia-> serving <3000-latreuo-> [God] day <2250-hemera-> and night <3571-nux->, hope <1679-elpizo-> to come <2658-katantao->. For which <3739-hos-> hope's <1679-elpizo-> sake, king <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas->, I am accused <1458-egkaleo-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios->.
:8 Why <5101-tis-> should it be thought <2919-krino-> a thing incredible <0571-apistos-> with you, that God <2316-theos-> should raise <1453-egeiro-> the dead <3498-nekros->?
:9 I verily <3767-oun-> thought <1380-dokeo-> with myself <1683-emautou->, that I ought <1163-dei-> to do <4238-prasso-> many <4183-polus-> things contrary <1727-enantios-> to the name <3686-onoma-> of Jesus <2424-Iesous-> of Nazareth <3478-Nazareth->.
:10 Which <3739-hos-> thing I also <2532-kai-> did <4160-poieo-> in Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->: and many <4183-polus-> of the saints <0040-hagios-> did I shut <2623-katakleio-> up in prison <5438-phulake->, having received <2983-lambano-> authority <1849-exousia-> from the chief <0749-archiereus-> priests <0749-archiereus->; and when they were put <0337-anaireo-> to death <0337-anaireo->, I gave <2702-kataphero-> my voice <5586-psephos-> against <2702-kataphero-> [them].
:11 And I punished <5097-timoreo-> them oft <4178-pollakis-> in every <3956-pas-> synagogue <4864-sunagoge->, and compelled <0315-anagkazo-> [them] to blaspheme <0987-blasphemeo->; and being exceedingly <4057-perissos-> mad <1693-emmainomai-> against <1693-emmainomai-> them, I persecuted <1377-dioko-> [them] even <2532-kai-> unto strange <1854-exo-> cities <4172-polis->.
:12. Whereupon <3739-hos-> as I went <4198-poreuomai-> to Damascus <1154-Damaskos-> with authority <1849-exousia-> and commission <2011-epitrope-> from the chief <0749-archiereus-> priests <0749-archiereus->,
:13 At midday <3319-mesos->, O king <0935-basileus->, I saw <1492-eido-> in the way <3598-hodos-> a light <5457-phos-> from heaven <3771-ouranothen->, above <5228-huper-> the brightness <2987-lamprotes-> of the sun <2246-helios->, shining <4034-perilampo-> round <4034-perilampo-> about <4034-perilampo-> me and them which journeyed <4198-poreuomai-> with me.
:14 And when we were all <3956-pas-> fallen <2667-katapipto-> to the earth <1093-ge->, I heard <0191-akouo-> a voice <5456-phone-> speaking <2980-laleo-> unto me, and saying <3004-lego-> in the Hebrew <1446-Hebrais-> tongue <1258-dialektos->, Saul <4569-Saulos->, Saul <4569-Saulos->, why <5101-tis-> persecutest <1377-dioko-> thou me? [it is] hard <4642-skleros-> for thee to kick <2979-laktizo-> against <4314-pros-> the pricks <2759-kentron->.
:15 And I said <2036-epo->, Who <5101-tis-> art <1488-ei-> thou, Lord <2962-kurios->? And he said <2036-epo->, I am <1510-eimi-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> whom <3739-hos-> thou persecutest <1377-dioko->.
:16 But rise <0450-anistemi->, and stand <2476-histemi-> upon thy feet <4228-pous->: for I have appeared <3700-optanomai-> unto thee for this <5124-touto-> purpose, to make <4400-procheirizomai-> thee a minister <5257-huperetes-> and a witness <3144-martus-> both <5037-te-> of these things which <3739-hos-> thou hast seen <1492-eido->, and of those things in the which <3739-hos-> I will appear <3700-optanomai-> unto thee;
:17 Delivering <1807-exaireo-> thee from the people <2992-laos->, and [from] the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->, unto whom <3739-hos-> now <3568-nun-> I send <0649-apostello-> thee,
:18 To open <0455-anoigo-> their eyes <3788-ophthalmos->, [and] to turn <1994-epistrepho-> [them] from darkness <4655-skotos-> to light <5457-phos->, and [from] the power <1849-exousia-> of Satan <4567-Satanas-> unto God <2316-theos->, that they may receive <2983-lambano-> forgiveness <0859-aphesis-> of sins <0266-hamartia->, and inheritance <2819-kleros-> among <1722-en-> them which are sanctified <0037-hagiazo-> by faith <4102-pistis-> that is in me.
:19 Whereupon <3606-hothen->, O king <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas->, I was not disobedient <0545-apeithes-> unto the heavenly <3770-ouranios-> vision <3705-horama->:
:20 But shewed <0518-apaggello-> first <4412-proton-> unto them of Damascus <1154-Damaskos->, and at Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma->, and throughout <1519-eis-> all <3956-pas-> the coasts <5561-chora-> of Judaea <2449-Ioudaia->, and [then] to the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->, that they should repent <3340-metanoeo-> and turn <1994-epistrepho-> to God <2316-theos->, and do <4238-prasso-> works <2041-ergon-> meet <0514-axios-> for repentance <3341-metanoia->.
:21 For these <5130-touton-> causes <1752-heneka-> the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> caught <4815-sullambano-> me in the temple <2411-hieron->, and went <3987-peirao-> about <3985-peirazo-> to kill <1315-diacheirizomai-> [me].
:22 Having therefore <3767-oun-> obtained <5177-tugchano-> help <1947-epikouria-> of God <2316-theos->, I continue <2476-histemi-> unto this <5026-taute-> day <2250-hemera->, witnessing <3140-martureo-> both <5037-te-> to small <3398-mikros-> and great <3173-megas->, saying <3004-lego-> none <3762-oudeis-> other <1622-ektos-> things than those which <3739-hos-> the prophets <4396-prophetes-> and Moses <3475-Moseus-> did say <2980-laleo-> should <3195-mello-> come <1096-ginomai->:
:23 That Christ <5547-Christos-> should suffer <3805-pathetos->, [and] that he should be the first <4413-protos-> that should <3195-mello-> rise <0386-anastasis-> from the dead <3498-nekros->, and should shew <2605-kataggello-> light <5457-phos-> unto the people <2992-laos->, and to the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->.
:24. And as he thus <5023-tauta-> spake <0626-apologeomai-> for himself, Festus <5347-Phestos-> said <5346-phemi-> with a loud <3173-megas-> voice <5456-phone->, Paul <3972-Paulos->, thou art beside <3105-mainomai-> thyself; much <4183-polus-> learning <1121-gramma-> doth make <4062-peritrepo-> thee mad <3130-mania->.
:25 But he said <5346-phemi->, I am not mad <3105-mainomai->, most <2903-kratistos-> noble <2903-kratistos-> Festus <5347-Phestos->; but speak <0669-apophtheggomai-> forth <0669-apophtheggomai-> the words <4487-rhema-> of truth <0225-aletheia-> and soberness <4997-sophrosune->.
:26 For the king <0935-basileus-> knoweth <1987-epistamai-> of these <5130-touton-> things, before <4314-pros-> whom <3739-hos-> also <2532-kai-> I speak <2980-laleo-> freely <3955-parrhesiazomai->: for I am persuaded <3982-peitho-> that none <3762-oudeis-> of these <5130-touton-> things are hidden <2990-lanthano-> from him; for this <5124-touto-> thing was not done <4238-prasso-> in a corner <1137-gonia->.
:27 King <0935-basileus-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas->, believest <4100-pisteuo-> thou the prophets <4396-prophetes->? I know <1492-eido-> that thou believest <4100-pisteuo->.
:28 Then <1161-de-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas-> said <5346-phemi-> unto Paul <3972-Paulos->, Almost <3641-oligos-> thou persuadest <3982-peitho-> me to be a Christian <5546-Christianos->.
:29 And Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <2036-epo->, I would <2172-euchomai-> to God <2316-theos->, that not only <3440-monon-> thou, but also <2532-kai-> all <3956-pas-> that hear <0191-akouo-> me this <4594-semeron-> day <4594-semeron->, were both <2532-kai-> almost <3641-oligos->, and altogether <4183-polus-> such <5108-toioutos-> as I am <1510-eimi->, except <3923-pareisphero-> these <5130-touton-> bonds <1199-desmon->.
:30 And when he had thus <5023-tauta-> spoken <2036-epo->, the king <0935-basileus-> rose <0450-anistemi-> up, and the governor <2232-hegemon->, and Bernice <0959-Bernike->, and they that sat <4775-sugkathemai-> with them:
:31 And when they were gone <0402-anachoreo-> aside <0402-anachoreo->, they talked <2980-laleo-> between <4314-pros-> themselves <0240-allelon->, saying <3004-lego->, This <3778-houtos-> man <0444-anthropos-> doeth <4238-prasso-> nothing <3762-oudeis-> worthy <0514-axios-> of death <2288-thanatos-> or <2228-e-> of bonds <1199-desmon->.
:32 Then <1161-de-> said <5346-phemi-> Agrippa <0067-Agrippas-> unto Festus <5347-Phestos->, This <3778-houtos-> man <0444-anthropos-> might <1410-dunamai-> have been <1096-ginomai-> set <0630-apoluo-> at <0630-apoluo-> liberty <0630-apoluo->, if <1487-ei-> he had not appealed <1941-epikaleomai-> unto Caesar <2541-Kaisar->.
:Acts 27
:1. And when <5613-hos-> it was determined <2919-krino-> that we should sail <0636-apopleo-> into <1519-eis-> Italy <2482-Italia->, they delivered <3860-paradidomi-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> and certain <5100-tis-> other <2087-heteros-> prisoners <1202-desmotes-> unto [one] named <3686-onoma-> Julius <2457-Ioulios->, a centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> of Augustus <0828-Augoustos->' band <4686-speira->.
:2 And entering <1910-epibaino-> into a ship <4143-ploion-> of Adramyttium <0098-Adramuttenos->, we launched <0321-anago->, meaning <3195-mello-> to sail <4126-pleo-> by the coasts <5117-topos-> of Asia <0773-Asia->; [one] Aristarchus <0708-Aristarchos->, a Macedonian <3110-Makedon-> of Thessalonica <2331-Thessalonikeus->, being <5607-on-> with us.
:3 And the next <2087-heteros-> [day] we touched <2609-katago-> at <1519-eis-> Sidon <4605-Sidon->. And Julius <2457-Ioulios-> courteously <5364-philanthropos-> entreated <5530-chraomai-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, and gave <2010-epitrepo-> [him] liberty <2010-epitrepo-> to go <4198-poreuomai-> unto his friends <5384-philos-> to refresh <5177-tugchano-> himself.
:4 And when we had launched <0321-anago-> from thence <1564-ekeithen->, we sailed <5284-hupopleo-> under <5284-hupopleo-> Cyprus <2954-Kupros->, because <1223-dia-> the winds <0417-anemos-> were contrary <1727-enantios->.
:5 And when we had sailed <1277-diapleo-> over <1277-diapleo-> the sea <3989-pelagos-> of Cilicia <2791-Kilikia-> and Pamphylia <3828-Pamphulia->, we came <2718-katerchomai-> to Myra <3460-Mura->, [a city] of Lycia <3073-Lukia->.
:6 And there <1563-ekei-> the centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> found <2147-heurisko-> a ship <4143-ploion-> of Alexandria <0221-Alexandreus-> sailing <4126-pleo-> into <1519-eis-> Italy <2482-Italia->; and he put <1688-embibazo-> us therein.
:7 And when we had sailed <1020-braduploeo-> slowly <1020-braduploeo-> many <2425-hikanos-> days <2250-hemera->, and scarce <3433-molis-> were come <1096-ginomai-> over <2596-kata-> against <2596-kata-> Cnidus <2834-Knidos->, the wind <0417-anemos-> not suffering <4330-proseao-> us, we sailed <5284-hupopleo-> under <5284-hupopleo-> Crete <2914-Krete->, over <2596-kata-> against <2596-kata-> Salmone <4534-Salmone->;
:8 And, hardly <3433-molis-> passing <3881-paralegomai-> it, came <2064-erchomai-> unto a place <5117-topos-> which is called <2564-kaleo-> The fair <2568-Kaloi Limenes-> havens <2568-Kaloi Limenes->; nigh <1451-eggus-> whereunto <3739-hos-> was the city <4172-polis-> [of] Lasea <2996-Lasaia->.
:9 Now <1161-de-> when much <2425-hikanos-> time <5550-chronos-> was spent <1230-diaginomai->, and when sailing <4144-ploos-> was now <2235-ede-> dangerous <2000-episphales->, because <1223-dia-> the fast <3521-nesteia-> was now <2235-ede-> already <2235-ede-> past <3928-parerchomai->, Paul <3972-Paulos-> admonished <3867-paraineo-> [them],
:10 And said <3004-lego-> unto them, Sirs <0435-aner->, I perceive <2334-theoreo-> that this <3588-ho-> voyage <4144-ploos-> will <3195-mello-> be with hurt <5196-hubris-> and much <4183-polus-> damage <2209-zemia->, not only <3440-monon-> of the lading <5414-phortos-> and ship <4143-ploion->, but also <2532-kai-> of our lives <5590-psuche->.
:11 Nevertheless <1161-de-> the centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> believed <3982-peitho-> the master <2942-kubernetes-> and the owner <3490-naukleros-> of the ship <3490-naukleros->, more <3123-mallon-> than <2228-e-> those <3588-ho-> things which were spoken <3004-lego-> by Paul <3972-Paulos->.
:12. And because the haven <3040-limen-> was not commodious <0428-aneuthetos-> to winter <3915-paracheimasia-> in, the more <4119-pleion-> part advised <5087-tithemi-> to depart <0321-anago-> thence <1564-ekeithen-> also <2547-kakeithen->, if <1513-ei pos-> by any <4458--pos-> means <4458--pos-> they might <1410-dunamai-> attain <2658-katantao-> to Phenice <5405-Phoinix->, [and there] to winter <3914-paracheimazo->; [which is] an haven <3040-limen-> of Crete <2914-Krete->, and lieth <0991-blepo-> toward <2596-kata-> the south <3047-lips-> west <3047-lips-> and north <5566-choros-> west <5566-choros->.
:13 And when the south <3558-notos-> wind blew <5285-hupopneo-> softly <5285-hupopneo->, supposing <1380-dokeo-> that they had obtained <2902-krateo-> [their] purpose <4286-prothesis->, loosing <0142-airo-> [thence], they sailed <3881-paralegomai-> close <0788-asson-> by Crete <2914-Krete->.
:14 But not long <4183-polus-> after there arose <0906-ballo-> against <2596-kata-> it a tempestuous <5189-tuphonikos-> wind <0417-anemos->, called <2564-kaleo-> Euroclydon <2148-Eurokludon->.
:15 And when the ship <4143-ploion-> was caught <4884-sunarpazo->, and could <1410-dunamai-> not bear <0503-antophthalmeo-> up into the wind <0417-anemos->, we let <1929-epididomi-> [her] drive <1929-epididomi->.
:16 And running <5295-hupotrecho-> under <5295-hupotrecho-> a certain <5100-tis-> island <3519-nesion-> which is called <2564-kaleo-> Clauda <2802-Klaude->, we had much <3433-molis-> work <2480-ischuo-> to come <1096-ginomai-> by the boat <4627-skaphe->:
:17 Which <3739-hos-> when they had taken <0142-airo-> up, they used <5530-chraomai-> helps <0996-boetheia->, undergirding <5269-hupozonnumi-> the ship <4143-ploion->; and, fearing <5399-phobeo-> lest <3361-me-> they should fall <1601-ekpipto-> into <1519-eis-> the quicksands <4950-surtis->, strake <5465-chalao-> sail <4632-skeuos->, and so <3779-houto-> were driven <5342-phero->.
:18 And we being exceedingly <4971-sphodros-> tossed <5492-cheimazo-> with a tempest <5492-cheimazo->, the next <1836-hexes-> [day] they lightened <1546-ekbloe-> the ship;
:19 And the third <5154-tritos-> [day] we cast <4496-rhipto-> out with our own <0849-autocheir-> hands <0849-autocheir-> the tackling <4631-skeue-> of the ship <4143-ploion->.
:20 And when neither <3383-mete-> sun <2246-helios-> nor <3383-mete-> stars <0798-astron-> in many <4119-pleion-> days <2250-hemera-> appeared <2014-epiphaino->, and no <3756-ou-> small <3641-oligos-> tempest <5494-cheimon-> lay <1945-epikeimai-> on <1945-epikeimai-> [us], all <3956-pas-> hope <1680-elpis-> that we should be saved <4982-sozo-> was then <3063-loipon-> taken <4014-periaireo-> away <4014-periaireo->.
:21. But after <5225-huparcho-> long <4183-polus-> abstinence <0776-asitia-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> stood <2476-histemi-> forth in the midst <3319-mesos-> of them, and said <2036-epo->, Sirs <0435-aner->, ye should <1163-dei-> have hearkened <3980-peitharcheo-> unto me, and not have loosed <0321-anago-> from Crete <2914-Krete->, and to have gained <2770-kerdaino-> this <5026-taute-> harm <5196-hubris-> and loss <2209-zemia->.
:22 And now <3568-nun-> I exhort <3867-paraineo-> you to be of good cheer <2114-euthumeo->: for there shall be no <3762-oudeis-> loss <0580-apobole-> of [any <3762-oudeis-> man's] life <5590-psuche-> among <1537-ek-> you, but of the ship <4143-ploion->.
:23 For there stood <3936-paristemi-> by me this <5026-taute-> night <3571-nux-> the angel <0032-aggelos-> of God <2316-theos->, whose <3739-hos-> I am <1510-eimi->, and whom <3739-hos-> I serve <3000-latreuo->,
:24 Saying <3004-lego->, Fear <5399-phobeo-> not, Paul <3972-Paulos->; thou must <1163-dei-> be brought <3936-paristemi-> before <3936-paristemi-> Caesar <2541-Kaisar->: and, lo <2400-idou->, God <2316-theos-> hath given <5483-charizomai-> thee all <3956-pas-> them that sail <4126-pleo-> with thee.
:25 Wherefore <1352-dio->, sirs <0435-aner->, be of good cheer <2114-euthumeo->: for I believe <4100-pisteuo-> God <2316-theos->, that it shall be even <3779-houto-> as it was told <2980-laleo-> me.
:26 Howbeit we must <1163-dei-> be cast <1601-ekpipto-> upon a certain <5100-tis-> island <3520-nesos->.
:27 But when <5613-hos-> the fourteenth <5065-tessareskaidekatos-> night <3571-nux-> was come <1096-ginomai->, as we were driven <1308-diaphero-> up and down <1308-diaphero-> in Adria <0099-Adrias->, about <2596-kata-> midnight <3571-nux-> the shipmen <3492-nautes-> deemed <5282-huponoeo-> that they drew <4317-prosago-> near <4317-prosago-> to some <5100-tis-> country <5561-chora->;
:28 And sounded <1001-bolizo->, and found <2147-heurisko-> [it] twenty <1501-eikosi-> fathoms <3712-orguia->: and when they had gone <1339-diistemi-> a little <1024-brachus-> further <1339-diistemi->, they sounded <1001-bolizo-> again <3825-palin->, and found <2147-heurisko-> [it] fifteen <1178-dekapente-> fathoms <3712-orguia->.
:29 Then <5037-te-> fearing <5399-phobeo-> lest <3381-mepos-> we should have fallen <1601-ekpipto-> upon rocks <5117-topos->, they cast <4496-rhipto-> four <5064-tessares-> anchors <0045-agkura-> out of the stern <4403-prumna->, and wished <2172-euchomai-> for the day <2250-hemera->.
:30 And as the shipmen <3492-nautes-> were about <2212-zeteo-> to flee <5343-pheugo-> out of the ship <4143-ploion->, when they had let <5465-chalao-> down <5465-chalao-> the boat <4627-skaphe-> into <1519-eis-> the sea <2281-thalassa->, under colour <4392-prophasis-> as though they would <3195-mello-> have cast <1614-ekteino-> anchors out of the foreship <4408-prora->,
:31 Paul <3972-Paulos-> said <2036-epo-> to the centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> and to the soldiers <4757-stratiotes->, Except <3362-ean me-> these <3778-houtos-> abide <3306-meno-> in the ship <4143-ploion->, ye cannot <1410-dunamai-> be saved <4982-sozo->.
:32 Then <5119-tote-> the soldiers <4757-stratiotes-> cut <0609-apokopto-> off <0609-apokopto-> the ropes <4979-schoinion-> of the boat <4627-skaphe->, and let <1439-eao-> her fall <1601-ekpipto-> off <1601-ekpipto->.
:33 And while <3739-hos-> the day <2250-hemera-> was coming <1096-ginomai-> on, Paul <3972-Paulos-> besought <3870-parakaleo-> [them] all <0537-hapas-> to take <3335-metalambano-> meat <5160-trophe->, saying <3004-lego->, This <4594-semeron-> day <4594-semeron-> is the fourteenth <5065-tessareskaidekatos-> day <2250-hemera-> that ye have tarried <4328-prosdokao-> and continued <1300-diateleo-> fasting <0777-asitos->, having taken <4355-proslambano-> nothing <3367-medeis->.
:34 Wherefore <1352-dio-> I pray <3870-parakaleo-> you to take <4355-proslambano-> [some] meat <5160-trophe->: for this <5124-touto-> is for your <5212-humeteros-> health <4991-soteria->: for there shall not an hair <2359-thrix-> fall <4098-pipto-> from the head <2776-kephale-> of any <3762-oudeis-> of you.
:35 And when he had thus <5023-tauta-> spoken <2036-epo->, he took <2983-lambano-> bread <0740-artos->, and gave thanks <2168-eucharisteo-> to God <2316-theos-> in presence <1799-enopion-> of them all <3956-pas->: and when he had broken <2806-klao-> [it], he began <0756-archomai-> to eat <2068-esthio->.
:36 Then <1161-de-> were they all <3956-pas-> of good cheer <2114-euthumeo->, and they also <2532-kai-> took <4355-proslambano-> [some] meat <5160-trophe->.
:37 And we were in all <3956-pas-> in the ship <4143-ploion-> two <1250-diakosioi-> hundred <1250-diakosioi-> threescore <1440-hebdomekonta-> and sixteen <1803-hex-> souls <5590-psuche->.
:38 And when they had eaten <2880-korennumi-> enough <2880-korennumi->, they lightened <2893-kouphizo-> the ship <4143-ploion->, and cast <1544-ekballo-> out the wheat <4621-sitos-> into <1519-eis-> the sea <2281-thalassa->.
:39 And when <3753-hote-> it was day <2250-hemera->, they knew <1921-epiginosko-> not the land <1093-ge->: but they discovered <2657-katanoeo-> a certain <5100-tis-> creek <2859-kolpos-> with a shore <0123-aigialos->, into <1519-eis-> the which <3739-hos-> they were minded <1014-boo-lom-ahee->, if <1487-ei-> it were possible <1410-dunamai->, to thrust <1856-exotheo-> in the ship <4143-ploion->.
:40 And when they had taken <4014-periaireo-> up the anchors <0045-agkura->, they committed <1439-eao-> [themselves] unto the sea <2281-thalassa->, and loosed <0447-aniemi-> the rudder <4079-pedalion-> bands <2202-zeukteria->, and hoised <1869-epairo-> up the mainsail <0736-artemon-> to the wind <4154-pneo->, and made <2722-katecho-> toward <1519-eis-> shore <0123-aigialos->.
:41 And falling <4045-peripipto-> into <1519-eis-> a place <5117-topos-> where <1337-dithalassos-> two <1337-dithalassos-> seas <1337-dithalassos-> met, they ran <2027-epokello-> the ship <3491-naus-> aground <2027-epokello->; and the forepart <4408-prora-> stuck <2043-ereido-> fast, and remained <3306-meno-> unmoveable <0761-asaleutos->, but the hinder <4403-prumna-> part <4403-prumna-> was broken <3089-luo-> with the violence <0970-bia-> of the waves <2949-kuma->.
:42 And the soldiers <4757-stratiotes->' counsel <1012-boule-> was to kill <0615-apokteino-> the prisoners <1202-desmotes->, lest <3361-me-> any <5100-tis-> of them should swim <1579-ekkolumbao-> out, and escape <1309-diapheugo->.
:43 But the centurion <1543-hekatontarches->, willing <1014-boo-lom-ahee-> to save <1295-diasozo-> Paul <3972-Paulos->, kept <2967-koluo-> them from [their] purpose <1013-boulema->; and commanded <2753-keleuo-> that they which could <1410-dunamai-> swim <2860-kolumbao-> should cast <0641-aporrhipto-> [themselves] first <4413-protos-> [into the sea], and get <1826-exeimi-> to land <1093-ge->:
:44 And the rest <3062-loipoy->, some <3588-ho-> on <1909-epi-> boards <4548-sanis->, and some <1161-de-> on <1909-epi-> [broken pieces] of the ship <4493-rhipe->. And so <3779-houto-> it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that they escaped <1295-diasozo-> all <3956-pas-> safe <1295-diasozo-> to land <1093-ge->.
:Acts 28
:1. And when they were escaped <1295-diasozo->, then <5119-tote-> they knew <1921-epiginosko-> that the island <3520-nesos-> was called <2564-kaleo-> Melita <3194-Melite->.
:2 And the barbarous <0915-barbaros-> people shewed <3930-parecho-> us no <3756-ou-> little <5177-tugchano-> kindness <5363-philanthropia->: for they kindled <0381-anapto-> a fire <4443-pura->, and received <4355-proslambano-> us every <3956-pas-> one, because <1223-dia-> of the present <2186-ephistemi-> rain <5205-huetos->, and because <1223-dia-> of the cold <5592-psuchos->.
:3 And when Paul <3972-Paulos-> had gathered <4962-sustrepho-> a bundle <4128-plethos-> of sticks <5434-phruganon->, and laid <2007-epitithemi-> [them] on <1909-epi-> the fire <4443-pura->, there came <1831-exerchomai-> a viper <2191-echidna-> out of the heat <2329-therme->, and fastened <2510-kathapto-> on <2510-kathapto-> his hand <5495-cheir->.
:4 And when <5613-hos-> the barbarians <0915-barbaros-> saw <1492-eido-> the [venomous] beast <2342-therion-> hang <2910-kremannumi-> on <1537-ek-> his hand <5495-cheir->, they said <3004-lego-> among <4314-pros-> themselves <0846-autos->, No doubt <3843-pantos-> this <3778-houtos-> man <0444-anthropos-> is a murderer <5406-phoneus->, whom <3739-hos->, though he hath escaped <1295-diasozo-> the sea <2281-thalassa->, yet vengeance <1349-dike-> suffereth <1439-eao-> not to live <2198-zao->.
:5 And he shook <0660-apotinasso-> off <0660-apotinasso-> the beast <2342-therion-> into <1519-eis-> the fire <4442-pur->, and felt <3958-pascho-> no <3762-oudeis-> harm <2556-kakos->.
:6 Howbeit they looked <4328-prosdokao-> when he should <3195-mello-> have swollen <4092-pimpremi->, or <2228-e-> fallen <2667-katapipto-> down <2667-katapipto-> dead <3498-nekros-> suddenly <0869-aphno->: but after they had looked <4328-prosdokao-> a great <4183-polus-> while, and saw <2334-theoreo-> no <3367-medeis-> harm <0824-atopos-> come <1096-ginomai-> to him, they changed <3328-metaballo-> their minds, and said <3004-lego-> that he was a god <2316-theos->.
:7 In the same <1565-ekeinos-> quarters <5117-topos-> were possessions <5564-chorion-> of the chief <4413-protos-> man of the island <3520-nesos->, whose name <3686-onoma-> was Publius <4196-Poplios->; who <3739-hos-> received <0324-anadechomai-> us, and lodged <3579-xenizo-> us three <5140-treis-> days <2250-hemera-> courteously <5390-philophronos->.
:8 And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that the father <3962-pater-> of Publius <4196-Poplios-> lay <2621-katakeimai-> sick of a fever <4446-puretos-> and of a bloody <1420-dusenteria-> flux <1420-dusenteria->: to whom <3739-hos-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> entered <1525-eiserchomai-> in, and prayed <4336-proseuchomai->, and laid <2007-epitithemi-> his hands <5495-cheir-> on <2007-epitithemi-> him, and healed <2390-iaomai-> him.
:9 So <3767-oun-> when this <5127-toutou-> was done <1096-ginomai->, others <3062-loipoy-> also <2532-kai->, which <3588-ho-> had <2192-echo-> diseases <0769-astheneia-> in the island <3520-nesos->, came <4334-proserchomai->, and were healed <2323-therapeuo->:
:10 Who <3739-hos-> also <2532-kai-> honoured <5092-time-> us with many <4183-polus-> honours <5091-timao->; and when we departed <0321-anago->, they laded <2007-epitithemi-> [us] with such things as were necessary <5532-chreia->.
:11. And after <3326-meta-> three <5140-treis-> months <3376-men-> we departed <0321-anago-> in a ship <4493-rhipe-> of Alexandria <0221-Alexandreus->, which had wintered <3916-parachrema-> in the isle <3520-nesos->, whose sign <3902-parasemos-> was Castor <1359-Dioskouroi-> and Pollux <1359-Dioskouroi->.
:12 And landing <2609-katago-> at <1519-eis-> Syracuse <4946-Surakousai->, we tarried <1961-epimeno-> [there] three <5140-treis-> days <2250-hemera->.
:13 And from thence <3606-hothen-> we fetched a compass <4022-perierchomai->, and came <2658-katantao-> to Rhegium <4484-Rhegion->: and after <3326-meta-> one <3391-mia-> day <2250-hemera-> the south <3558-notos-> wind blew <1920-epiginomai->, and we came <2064-erchomai-> the next <1206-deuteraios-> day to Puteoli <4223-Potioloi->:
:14 Where <3757-hou-> we found <2147-heurisko-> brethren <0080-adephos->, and were desired <3870-parakaleo-> to tarry <1961-epimeno-> with them seven <2033-hepta-> days <2250-hemera->: and so <3779-houto-> we went <2064-erchomai-> toward <1519-eis-> Rome <4516-Rhome->.
:15 And from thence <1564-ekeithen->, when the brethren <0080-adephos-> heard <0191-akouo-> of us, they came <1831-exerchomai-> to meet <0529-apantesis-> us as far <0891-achri-> as Appii <0675->Appios-> forum <5410-Phoron->, and The three <5140-treis-> taverns <4999-Tabernai->: whom <3739-hos-> when Paul <3972-Paulos-> saw <1492-eido->, he thanked <2168-eucharisteo-> God <2316-theos->, and took <2983-lambano-> courage <2294-tharsos->.
:16 And when <3753-hote-> we came <2064-erchomai-> to Rome <4516-Rhome->, the centurion <1543-hekatontarches-> delivered <3860-paradidomi-> the prisoners <1198-desmios-> to the captain <4759-stratopedarches-> of the guard <4759-stratopedarches->: but Paul <3972-Paulos-> was suffered <2010-epitrepo-> to dwell <3306-meno-> by himself <1438-heautou-> with a soldier <4757-stratiotes-> that kept <5442-phulasso-> him.
:17. And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that after <3326-meta-> three <5140-treis-> days <2250-hemera-> Paul <3972-Paulos-> called <4779-sugkaleo-> the chief <4413-protos-> of the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> together <4779-sugkaleo->: and when they were come <4905-sunerchomai-> together <4905-sunerchomai->, he said <3004-lego-> unto them, Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, though I have committed <4160-poieo-> nothing <3762-oudeis-> against <1727-enantios-> the people <2992-laos->, or <2228-e-> customs <1485-ethos-> of our fathers <3971-patroios->, yet was I delivered <3860-paradidomi-> prisoner <1198-desmios-> from Jerusalem <2414-Hierosoluma-> into <1519-eis-> the hands <5495-cheir-> of the Romans <4514-Rhomaios->.
:18 Who <3748-hostis->, when they had examined <0350-anakrino-> me, would have let <0630-apoluo-> [me] go <0630-apoluo->, because <1223-dia-> there was no <3367-medeis-> cause <0156-aitia-> of death <2288-thanatos-> in me.
:19 But when the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> spake <0483-antilego-> against <0483-antilego-> [it], I was constrained <0315-anagkazo-> to appeal <1941-epikaleomai-> unto Caesar <2541-Kaisar->; not that I had <2192-echo-> ought <5100-tis-> to accuse <2723-kategoreo-> my nation <1484-ethnos-> of.
:20 For this <5026-taute-> cause <0156-aitia-> therefore <3767-oun-> have I called <3870-parakaleo-> for you, to see <1492-eido-> [you], and to speak <4354-proslaleo-> with [you]: because <1063-gar-> that for the hope <1680-elpis-> of Israel <2474-Israel-> I am bound <4029-perikeimai-> with this <5026-taute-> chain <0254-halusis->.
:21 And they said <2036-epo-> unto him, We neither <3777-oute-> received <1209-dechomai-> letters <1121-gramma-> out of Judaea <2449-Ioudaia-> concerning <4012-peri-> thee, neither <3777-oute-> any <5100-tis-> of the brethren <0080-adephos-> that came <3854-paraginomai-> shewed <0518-apaggello-> or <2228-e-> spake <2980-laleo-> any <5100-tis-> harm <4190-poneros-> of thee.
:22 But we desire <0515-axioo-> to hear <0191-akouo-> of thee what <3739-hos-> thou thinkest <5426-phroneo->: for as concerning <4012-peri-> this <5026-taute-> sect <0139-hairesis->, we know <1110-gnostos-> that every <3837-pantachou-> where <3837-pantachou-> it is spoken <0483-antilego-> against <0483-antilego->.
:23. And when they had appointed <5021-tasso-> him a day <2250-hemera->, there came <2240-heko-> many <4119-pleion-> to him into <1519-eis-> [his] lodging <3578-xenia->; to whom <3739-hos-> he expounded <1620-ektithemi-> and testified <1263-diamarturomai-> the kingdom <0932-basileia-> of God <2316-theos->, persuading <3982-peitho-> them concerning <4012-peri-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, both <5037-te-> out of the law <3551-nomos-> of Moses <3475-Moseus->, and [out of] the prophets <4396-prophetes->, from morning <4404-proi-> till <2193-heos-> evening <2073-hespera->.
:24 And some <3588-ho-> believed <3982-peitho-> the things which were spoken <3004-lego->, and some <3588-ho-> believed not.
:25 And when they agreed <0800-asumphonos-> not among <4314-pros-> themselves <0846-autos->, they departed <0630-apoluo->, after that Paul <3972-Paulos-> had spoken <2036-epo-> one <1520-heis-> word <4487-rhema->, Well <2573-kalos-> spake <2980-laleo-> the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> by Esaias <2268-Hesaias-> the prophet <4396-prophetes-> unto our fathers <3962-pater->,
:26 Saying <3004-lego->, Go <4198-poreuomai-> unto this <5126-touton-> people <2992-laos->, and say <2036-epo->, Hearing <0189-akoe-> ye shall hear <0191-akouo->, and shall not understand <4920-suniemi->; and seeing <0991-blepo-> ye shall see <0991-blepo->, and not perceive <1492-eido->:
:27 For the heart <2588-kardia-> of this <5127-toutou-> people <2992-laos-> is waxed <3975-pachuno-> gross <3975-pachuno->, and their ears <3775-ous-> are dull <0917-bareos-> of hearing <0191-akouo->, and their eyes <3788-ophthalmos-> have they closed <2576-kammuo->; lest <3379-mepote-> they should see <1492-eido-> with [their] eyes <3788-ophthalmos->, and hear <0191-akouo-> with [their] ears <3775-ous->, and understand <4920-suniemi-> with [their] heart <2588-kardia->, and should be converted <1994-epistrepho->, and I should heal <2392-iasis-> them.
:28 Be it known <1110-gnostos-> therefore <3767-oun-> unto you, that the salvation <4992-soterion-> of God <2316-theos-> is sent <0649-apostello-> unto the Gentiles <1484-ethnos->, and [that] they will hear <0191-akouo-> it.
:29 And when he had said <2036-epo-> these <5023-tauta-> words, the Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> departed <0565-aperchomai->, and had <2192-echo-> great <4183-polus-> reasoning <4803-suzetesis-> among <1722-en-> themselves <1438-heautou->.
:30. And Paul <3972-Paulos-> dwelt <3306-meno-> two <1333-dietia-> whole <3650-holos-> years <1333-dietia-> in his own <2398-idios-> hired <3410-misthoma-> house, and received <0588-apodechomai-> all <3956-pas-> that came <1531-eisporeuomai-> in unto him,
:31 Preaching <2784-kerusso-> the kingdom <0932-basileia-> of God <2316-theos->, and teaching <1321-didasko-> those <3588-ho-> things which concern <4012-peri-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos->, with all <3956-pas-> confidence <3954-parrhesia->, no <0209-akolutos-> man forbidding <0209-akolutos-> him.
