When they therefore <3767-oun-> were come <4905-sunerchomai-> together <4905-sunerchomai->, they asked <1905-eperotao-> of him, saying <3004-lego->, Lord <2962-kurios->, wilt thou at <1722-en-> this <5129-toutoi-> time <5550-chronos-> restore <0600-apokathistemi-> again <0600-apokathistemi-> the kingdom <0932-basileia-> to Israel <2474-Israel->?

:7 And he said <2036-epo-> unto them, It is not for you to know <1097-ginosko-> the times <5550-chronos-> or <2228-e-> the seasons <2540-kairos->, which <3739-hos-> the Father <3962-pater-> hath put <5087-tithemi-> in his own <2398-idios-> power <1849-exousia->.

:8 But ye shall receive <2983-lambano-> power <1411-dunamis->, after that the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> is come <1904-eperchomai-> upon you: and ye shall be witnesses <3144-martus-> unto me both <5037-te-> in Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, and in all <3956-pas-> Judaea <2449-Ioudaia->, and in Samaria <4540-Samareia->, and unto the uttermost <2078-eschatos-> part of the earth <1093-ge->.

:13 And when <3753-hote-> they were come <1525-eiserchomai-> in, they went <0305-anabaino-> up into <1519-eis-> an upper <5253-huperoion-> room <5253-huperoion->, where <3757-hou-> abode <2650-katameno-> both <5037-te-> Peter <4074-Petros->, and James <2385-Iakobos->, and John <2491-Ioannes->, and Andrew <0406-Andreas->, Philip <5376-Philippos->, and Thomas <2381-Thomas->, Bartholomew <0918-Bartholomaios->, and Matthew <3156-Matthaios->, James <2385-Iakobos-> [the son] of Alphaeus <0256-Alphaios->, and Simon <4613-Simon-> Zelotes <2208-Zelotes->, and Judas <2455-Ioudas-> [the brother] of James <2385-Iakobos->.

:14 These <3778-houtos-> all <3956-pas-> continued <4342-proskartereo-> with one <3661-homothumadon-> accord <3661-homothumadon-> in prayer <4335-proseuche-> and supplication <1162-deesis->, with the women <1135-gune->, and Mary <3137-Maria-> the mother <3384-meter-> of Jesus <2424-Iesous->, and with his brethren <0080-adephos->.

And in those <5025-tautais-> days <2250-hemera-> Peter <4074-Petros-> stood <0450-anistemi-> up in the midst <3319-mesos-> of the disciples <3101-mathetes->, and said <2036-epo->, (the number <3793-ochlos-> of names <3686-onoma-> together <0846-autos-> were about <5613-hos-> an hundred <1540-hekaton-> and twenty <1501-eikosi->,)

:16 Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, this <5026-taute-> scripture <1124-graphe-> must <1163-dei-> needs have been fulfilled <4137-pleroo->, which <3739-hos-> the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma-> by the mouth <4750-stoma-> of David <1138-Dabid-> spake <4277-proepo-> before <4277-proepo-> concerning <4012-peri-> Judas <2455-Ioudas->, which <3588-ho-> was guide <3595-hodegos-> to them that took <4815-sullambano-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->.

:17 For he was numbered <2674-katarithmeo-> with us, and had obtained <2975-lagchano-> part <2819-kleros-> of this <5026-taute-> ministry <1248-diakonia->.

:18 Now <3767-oun-> this <3778-houtos-> man purchased <2932-ktaomai-> a field <5564-chorion-> with the reward <3408-misthos-> of iniquity <0093-adikia->; and falling <1096-ginomai-> headlong <4248-prenes->, he burst <2997-lascho-> asunder <2977-lathra-> in the midst <3319-mesos->, and all <3956-pas-> his bowels <4698-splagchnon-> gushed <1632-ekcheo-> out.

:19 And it was known <1110-gnostos-> unto all <3956-pas-> the dwellers <2730-katoikeo-> at Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->; insomuch <5620-hoste-> as that field <5564-chorion-> is called <2564-kaleo-> in their proper <2398-idios-> tongue <1258-dialektos->, Aceldama <0184-Akeldama->, that is to say, The field <5564-chorion-> of blood <0129-haima->.

:20 For it is written <1125-grapho-> in the book <0976-biblos-> of Psalms <5568-psalmos->, Let his habitation <1886-epaulis-> be desolate <2048-eremos->, and let no <3361-me-> man dwell <2730-katoikeo-> therein <0846-autos->: and his bishoprick <1984-episkope-> let another <2087-heteros-> take <2983-lambano->.

:21 Wherefore <3767-oun-> of these <5130-touton-> men which have companied <4905-sunerchomai-> with us all <3956-pas-> the time <5550-chronos-> that the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> went <1831-exerchomai-> in and out among <1909-epi-> us,

:22 Beginning <0756-archomai-> from the baptism <0908-baptisma-> of John <2491-Ioannes->, unto that same day <2250-hemera-> that he was taken <0353-analambano-> up from us, must <1163-dei-> one <1520-heis-> be ordained <1096-ginomai-> to be a witness <3144-martus-> with us of his resurrection <0386-anastasis->.

:23 And they appointed <2476-histemi-> two <1417-duo->, Joseph <2501-Ioseph-> called <2564-kaleo-> Barsabas <0923-Barsabas->, who <3739-hos-> was surnamed <1941-epikaleomai-> Justus <2459-Ioustos->, and Matthias <3159-Matthias->.

:24 And they prayed <4336-proseuchomai->, and said <2036-epo->, Thou, Lord <2962-kurios->, which knowest <2589-kardiognostes-> the hearts <2589-kardiognostes-> of all <3956-pas-> [men], shew <0322-anadeiknumi-> whether <1520-heis-> of these <5130-touton-> two <1417-duo-> thou hast chosen <1586-eklegomai->,

:25 That he may take <2983-lambano-> part <2819-kleros-> of this <5026-taute-> ministry <1248-diakonia-> and apostleship <0651-apostole->, from which <3739-hos-> Judas <2455-Ioudas-> by transgression <3845-parabaino-> fell, that he might go <4198-poreuomai-> to his own <2398-idios-> place <5117-topos->.

:26 And they gave <1325-didomi-> forth their lots <2819-kleros->; and the lot <2819-kleros-> fell <4098-pipto-> upon Matthias <3159-Matthias->; and he was numbered <4785-sugkatapsephizo-> with the eleven <1733-hendeka-> apostles <0652-apostolos->.

:Acts 2

:1. And when <3588-ho-> the day <2250-hemera-> of Pentecost <4005-pentekoste-> was fully <4845-sumpleroo-> come <4845-sumpleroo->, they were all <0537-hapas-> with one <3661-homothumadon-> accord <3661-homothumadon-> in one <0848-hautou-> place.

:2 And suddenly <0869-aphno-> there came <1096-ginomai-> a sound <2279-echos-> from heaven <3772-ouranos-> as of a rushing <5342-phero-> mighty <0972-biaios-> wind <4157-pnoe->, and it filled <4137-pleroo-> all <3650-holos-> the house <3624-oikos-> where <3757-hou-> they were sitting <2521-kathemai->.

:3 And there appeared <3700-optanomai-> unto them cloven <1266-diamerizo-> tongues <1100-glossa-> like <5616-hosei-> as of fire <4442-pur->, and it sat <2523-kathizo-> upon each <1538-hekastos-> of them.

:4 And they were all <0537-hapas-> filled <4130-pletho-> with the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->, and began <0756-archomai-> to speak <2980-laleo-> with other <2087-heteros-> tongues <1100-glossa->, as the Spirit <4151-pneuma-> gave <1325-didomi-> them utterance <0669-apophtheggomai->.

:5. And there were dwelling <2730-katoikeo-> at <1722-en-> Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem-> Jews <2453-Ioudaios->, devout <2126-eulabes-> men <0435-aner->, out of every <3956-pas-> nation <1484-ethnos-> under <5259-hupo-> heaven <3772-ouranos->.

:6 Now <1161-de-> when this <5026-taute-> was noised <5408-phonos-> abroad <5456-phone->, the multitude <4128-plethos-> came <4905-sunerchomai-> together <4905-sunerchomai->, and were confounded <4797-sugcheo->, because <3754-hoti-> that every <1538-hekastos-> man <1520-heis-> heard <0191-akouo-> them speak <2980-laleo-> in his own <2398-idios-> language <1258-dialektos->.

:7 And they were all <3956-pas-> amazed <1839-existemi-> and marvelled <2296-thaumazo->, saying <3004-lego-> one <0240-allelon-> to another <0240-allelon->, Behold <2400-idou->, are not all <3956-pas-> these <3778-houtos-> which <3588-ho-> speak <2980-laleo-> Galilaeans <1057-Galilaios->?

:8 And how <4459-pos-> hear <0191-akouo-> we every <1538-hekastos-> man <1520-heis-> in our own <2398-idios-> tongue <1258-dialektos->, wherein <3757-hou-> we were born <1080-gennao->?

:9 Parthians <3934-Parthos->, and Medes <3370-Medos->, and Elamites <1639-Elamites->, and the dwellers <2730-katoikeo-> in Mesopotamia <3318-Mesopotamia->, and in Judaea <2449-Ioudaia->, and Cappadocia <2587-Kappadokia->, in Pontus <4195-Pontos->, and Asia <0773-Asia->,

:10 Phrygia <5435-Phrugia->, and Pamphylia <3828-Pamphulia->, in Egypt <0125-Aiguptos->, and in the parts <3313-meros-> of Libya <3033-Libue-> about <2596-kata-> Cyrene <2957-Kurene->, and strangers <1927-epidemeo-> of Rome <4516-Rhome->, Jews <2453-Ioudaios-> and proselytes <4339-proselutos->,

:11 Cretes <2912-Kres-> and Arabians <0690->Araps->, we do hear <0191-akouo-> them speak <2980-laleo-> in our tongues <1100-glossa-> the wonderful <3167-megaleios-> works of God <2316-theos->.

:12 And they were all <3956-pas-> amazed <1839-existemi->, and were in doubt <1280-diaporeo->, saying <3004-lego-> one <0243-allos-> to another <0243-allos->, What <5101-tis-> meaneth <1511-einai-> this <5124-touto->?

:13 Others <2087-heteros-> mocking <5512-chleuazo-> said <3004-lego->, These men are full <3325-mestoo-> of new <1098-gleukos-> wine <1098-gleukos->.

:14. But Peter <4074-Petros->, standing <2476-histemi-> up with the eleven <1733-hendeka->, lifted <1869-epairo-> up his voice <5456-phone->, and said <0669-apophtheggomai-> unto them, Ye men <0435-aner-> of Judaea <2453-Ioudaios->, and all <0537-hapas-> [ye] that dwell <2730-katoikeo-> at Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, be this <5124-touto-> known <1110-gnostos-> unto you, and hearken <1801-enotizomai-> to my words <4487-rhema->:

:15 For these <3778-houtos-> are not drunken <3184-methuo->, as ye suppose <5274-hupolambano->, seeing <1063-gar-> it is [but] the third <5154-tritos-> hour <5610-hora-> of the day <2250-hemera->.

:16 But this <5124-touto-> is that which was spoken <2046-ereo-> by the prophet <4396-prophetes-> Joel <2493-Ioel->;

:17 And it shall come <1511-einai-> to pass in the last <2078-eschatos-> days <2250-hemera->, saith <3004-lego-> God <2316-theos->, I will pour <1632-ekcheo-> out of my Spirit <4151-pneuma-> upon all <3956-pas-> flesh <4561-sarx->: and your <5216-humon-> sons <5207-huios-> and your <5216-humon-> daughters <2364-thugater-> shall prophesy <4395-propheteuo->, and your <5216-humon-> young <3495-neaniskos-> men <3495-neaniskos-> shall see <3070-Ludia-> visions <3706-horasis->, and your <5216-humon-> old <4245-presbuteros-> men shall dream <1798-enupnion-> dreams <1797-enupniazomai->:

:18 And on <1909-epi-> my servants <1401-doulos-> and on <1909-epi-> my handmaidens <1399-doule-> I will pour <1632-ekcheo-> out in those <1565-ekeinos-> days <2250-hemera-> of my Spirit <4151-pneuma->; and they shall prophesy <4395-propheteuo->:

:19 And I will shew <1325-didomi-> wonders <5059-teras-> in heaven <3772-ouranos-> above <0507-ano->, and signs <4591-semaino-> in the earth <1093-ge-> beneath <2736-kato->; blood <0129-haima->, and fire <4442-pur->, and vapour <0822-atmis-> of smoke <2586-kapnos->:

:20 The sun <2246-helios-> shall be turned <4762-strepho-> into <1519-eis-> darkness <4655-skotos->, and the moon <4582-selene-> into <1519-eis-> blood <0129-haima->, before <2228-e-> that great <3173-megas-> and notable <2016-epiphanes-> day <2250-hemera-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> come <2064-erchomai->:

:21 And it shall come <1511-einai-> to pass, [that] whosoever <3739-hos-> shall call <1941-epikaleomai-> on <1941-epikaleomai-> the name <3686-onoma-> of the Lord <2962-kurios-> shall be saved <4982-sozo->.

:22 Ye men <0435-aner-> of Israel <2475-Israelites->, hear <0191-akouo-> these <5128-toutous-> words <3056-logos->; Jesus <2424-Iesous-> of Nazareth <3478-Nazareth->, a man <0435-aner-> approved <0584-apodeiknumi-> of God <2316-theos-> among <1519-eis-> you by miracles <1411-dunamis-> and wonders <5059-teras-> and signs <4591-semaino->, which <3739-hos-> God <2316-theos-> did <4160-poieo-> by him in the midst <3319-mesos-> of you, as ye yourselves <0846-autos-> also <2532-kai-> know <1492-eido->:

:23 Him, being delivered <1560-ekdotos-> by the determinate <3724-horizo-> counsel <1012-boule-> and foreknowledge <4268-prognosis-> of God <2316-theos->, ye have taken <2983-lambano->, and by wicked <0459-anomos-> hands <5495-cheir-> have crucified <4362-prospegnumi-> and slain <0337-anaireo->:

:24 Whom <3739-hos-> God <2316-theos-> hath raised <0450-anistemi-> up, having loosed <3089-luo-> the pains <5604-odin--Ozias-> of death <2288-thanatos->: because <2530-kathoti-> it was not possible <1415-dunatos-> that he should be holden <2902-krateo-> of it.

:25 For David <1138-Dabid-> speaketh <3004-lego-> concerning <1519-eis-> him, I foresaw <4308-proorao-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> always <3956-pas-> before <1799-enopion-> my face <1799-enopion->, for he is on <1537-ek-> my right <1188-dexios-> hand, that I should not be moved <4531-saleuo->:

:26 Therefore <5124-touto-> did my heart <2588-kardia-> rejoice <2165-euphraino->, and my tongue <1100-glossa-> was glad <0021-agalliao->; moreover <2089-eti-> also <2532-kai-> my flesh <4561-sarx-> shall rest <2681-kataskenoo-> in hope <1680-elpis->:

:27 Because <3754-hoti-> thou wilt not leave <1459-egkataleipo-> my soul <5590-psuche-> in hell <0086-haides->, neither <3761-oude-> wilt thou suffer <1325-didomi-> thine <4675-sou-> Holy <3741-hosios-> One to see <1492-eido-> corruption <1312-diaphthora->.

:28 Thou hast made <1107-gnorizo-> known <1107-gnorizo-> to me the ways <3598-hodos-> of life <2222-zoe->; thou shalt make <4137-pleroo-> me full <4137-pleroo-> of joy <2167-euphrosune-> with thy countenance <4383-prosopon->.

:29 Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, let <1832-exesti-> me freely <3954-parrhesia-> speak <2036-epo-> unto you of the patriarch <3966-patriarches-> David <1138-Dabid->, that he is both <2532-kai-> dead <5053-teleutao-> and buried <2290-thapto->, and his sepulchre <3418-mnema-> is with us unto this <5026-taute-> day <2250-hemera->.

:30 Therefore <3767-oun-> being <5225-huparcho-> a prophet <4396-prophetes->, and knowing <1492-eido-> that God <2316-theos-> had sworn <3660-omnuo-> with an oath <3727-horkos-> to him, that of the fruit <2590-karpos-> of his loins <3751-osphus->, according <2596-kata-> to the flesh <4561-sarx->, he would raise <0450-anistemi-> up Christ <5547-Christos-> to sit <2523-kathizo-> on <1909-epi-> his throne <2362-thronos->;

:31 He seeing <4275-proeido-> this before <4275-proeido-> spake <2980-laleo-> of the resurrection <0386-anastasis-> of Christ <5547-Christos->, that his soul <5590-psuche-> was not left <2641-kataleipo-> in hell <0086-haides->, neither <3761-oude-> his flesh <4561-sarx-> did see <1492-eido-> corruption <1312-diaphthora->.

:32 This <5126-touton-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> hath God <2316-theos-> raised <0450-anistemi-> up, whereof <3739-hos-> we all <3956-pas-> are witnesses <3144-martus->.

:33 Therefore <3767-oun-> being by the right <1188-dexios-> hand of God <2316-theos-> exalted <5312-hupsoo->, and having received <2983-lambano-> of the Father <3962-pater-> the promise <1860-epaggelia-> of the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->, he hath shed <1632-ekcheo-> forth <1632-ekcheo-> this <5124-touto->, which <3739-hos-> ye now <3568-nun-> see <0991-blepo-> and hear <0191-akouo->.

:34 For David <1138-Dabid-> is not ascended <0305-anabaino-> into <1519-eis-> the heavens <3772-ouranos->: but he saith <3004-lego-> himself <0846-autos->, The LORD <2962-kurios-> said <2036-epo-> unto my Lord <2962-kurios->, Sit <2521-kathemai-> thou on <1537-ek-> my right <1188-dexios-> hand,

:35 Until <2193-heos-> I make <5087-tithemi-> thy foes <2190-echthros-> thy footstool <5286-hupopodion->.

:36 Therefore <3767-oun-> let all <3956-pas-> the house <3624-oikos-> of Israel <2474-Israel-> know <1097-ginosko-> assuredly <0806-asphalos->, that God <2316-theos-> hath made <4160-poieo-> that same <5126-touton-> Jesus <2424-Iesous->, whom <3739-hos-> ye have crucified <4717-stauroo->, both <2532-kai-> Lord <2962-kurios-> and Christ <5547-Christos->.

Now <1161-de-> when they heard <0191-akouo-> [this], they were pricked <2660-katanusso-> in their heart <2588-kardia->, and said <2036-epo-> unto Peter <4074-Petros-> and to the rest <3062-loipoy-> of the apostles <0652-apostolos->, Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, what <5101-tis-> shall we do <4160-poieo->?

:38 Then <1161-de-> Peter <4074-Petros-> said <5346-phemi-> unto them, Repent <3340-metanoeo->, and be baptized <0907-baptizo-> every <1538-hekastos-> one of you in the name <3686-onoma-> of Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos-> for the remission <0859-aphesis-> of sins <0266-hamartia->, and ye shall receive <2983-lambano-> the gift <1431-dorea-> of the Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->.

:39 For the promise <1860-epaggelia-> is unto you, and to your <5216-humon-> children <5043-teknon->, and to all <3956-pas-> that are afar <3112-makran-> off, [even] as many <3745-hosos-> as the Lord <2962-kurios-> our God <2316-theos-> shall call <4341-proskaleomai->.

:40 And with many <4119-pleion-> other <2087-heteros-> words <3056-logos-> did he testify <1263-diamarturomai-> and exhort <3870-parakaleo->, saying <3004-lego->, Save <4982-sozo-> yourselves from this <5026-taute-> untoward <4646-skolios-> generation <1074-genea->.

:41 Then <3767-oun-> they that gladly <0780-asmenos-> received <0588-apodechomai-> his word <3056-logos-> were baptized <0907-baptizo->: and the same <1565-ekeinos-> day <2250-hemera-> there were added <4369-prostithemi-> [unto them] about <5616-hosei-> three <5153-trischilioi-> thousand <5153-trischilioi-> souls <5590-psuche->.

:4 Whiles it remained <3306-meno->, was it not thine <4671-soi-> own? and after it was sold <4097-piprasko->, was it not in thine <4674-sos-> own power <1849-exousia->? why <5101-tis-> hast thou conceived <5087-tithemi-> this <5124-touto-> thing <4229-pragma-> in thine <4675-sou-> heart <2588-kardia->? thou hast not lied <5574-pseudomai-> unto men <0444-anthropos->, but unto God <2316-theos->.

:5 And Ananias <0367-Ananias-> hearing <0191-akouo-> these <5128-toutous-> words <3056-logos-> fell <4098-pipto-> down, and gave up the ghost <1634-ekpsucho->: and great <3173-megas-> fear <5401-phobos-> came <1096-ginomai-> on <1909-epi-> all <3956-pas-> them that heard <0191-akouo-> these <5023-tauta-> things.

:39 But if <1487-ei-> it be of God <2316-theos->, ye cannot <1410-dunamai-> overthrow <2647-kataluo-> it; lest <3379-mepote-> haply <3379-mepote-> ye be found <2147-heurisko-> even <2532-kai-> to fight <2314-theomachos-> against God <2314-theomachos->.

:40 And to him they agreed <3982-peitho->: and when they had called <4341-proskaleomai-> the apostles <0652-apostolos->, and beaten <1194-dero-> [them], they commanded <3853-paraggello-> that they should not speak <2980-laleo-> in the name <3686-onoma-> of Jesus <2424-Iesous->, and let <0630-apoluo-> them go <0630-apoluo->.

:22 Repent <3340-metanoeo-> therefore <3767-oun-> of this <5026-taute-> thy wickedness <2549-kakia->, and pray <1189-deomai-> God <2316-theos->, if <1487-ei-> perhaps <0686-ara-> the thought <1963-epinoia-> of thine <4671-soi-> heart <2588-kardia-> may be forgiven <0863-aphiemi-> thee.

:34 And Peter <4074-Petros-> said <2036-epo-> unto him, Aeneas <0132-Aineas->, Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos-> maketh <2390-iaomai-> thee whole <2390-iaomai->: arise <0450-anistemi->, and make <4766-stronnumi-> thy bed <4766-stronnumi->. And he arose <0450-anistemi-> immediately <2112-eutheos->.

Now <1161-de-> there was at <1722-en-> Joppa <2445-Ioppe-> a certain <5100-tis-> disciple <3102-mathetria-> named <3686-onoma-> Tabitha <5000-Tabitha->, which <3739-hos-> by interpretation <1329-diermeneuo-> is called <3004-lego-> Dorcas <1393-Dorkas->: this <3778-houtos-> woman was full <4134-pleres-> of good <0018-agathos-> works <2041-ergon-> and almsdeeds <1654-eleemosune-> which <3739-hos-> she did <4160-poieo->.

:37 And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass in those <1565-ekeinos-> days <2250-hemera->, that she was sick <0770-astheneo->, and died <0599-apothnesko->: whom when they had washed <3068-louo->, they laid <5087-tithemi-> [her] in an upper <5253-huperoion-> chamber <5253-huperoion->.

:38 And forasmuch <5607-on-> as Lydda <3069-Ludda-> was nigh <1451-eggus-> to Joppa <2445-Ioppe->, and the disciples <3101-mathetes-> had heard <0191-akouo-> that Peter <4074-Petros-> was there <0846-autos->, they sent <0649-apostello-> unto him two <1417-duo-> men <0435-aner->, desiring <3870-parakaleo-> [him] that he would not delay <3635-okneo-> to come <1330-dierchomai-> to them.

:7 And when <5613-hos-> the angel <0032-aggelos-> which <3588-ho-> spake <2980-laleo-> unto Cornelius <2883-Kornelios-> was departed <0565-aperchomai->, he called <5455-phoneo-> two <1417-duo-> of his household <3610-oiketes-> servants, and a devout <2152-eusebes-> soldier <4757-stratiotes-> of them that waited <4342-proskartereo-> on <4342-proskartereo-> him continually <4342-proskartereo->;

:8 And when he had declared <1834-exegeomai-> all <0537-hapas-> [these] things unto them, he sent <0649-apostello-> them to Joppa <2445-Ioppe->.

:9. On the morrow <1887-epaurion->, as they went <3596-hodoiporeo-> on their journey <3596-hodoiporeo->, and drew nigh <1448-eggizo-> unto the city <4172-polis->, Peter <4074-Petros-> went <0305-anabaino-> up upon the housetop <1430-doma-> to pray <4336-proseuchomai-> about <4012-peri-> the sixth <1623-hektos-> hour <5610-hora->:

:10 And he became <1096-ginomai-> very <4361-prospeinos-> hungry <4361-prospeinos->, and would <2309-thelo-> have eaten <1089-geuomai->: but while they made <3903-paraskeuazo-> ready <3903-paraskeuazo->, he fell <1968-epipipto-> into <1909-epi-> a trance <1611-ekstasis->,

:11 And saw <2334-theoreo-> heaven <3772-ouranos-> opened <0455-anoigo->, and a certain <5100-tis-> vessel <4632-skeuos-> descending <2597-katabaino-> unto him, as it had been a great <3173-megas-> sheet <3607-othone-> knit <1210-deo-> at the four <5064-tessares-> corners <0746-arche->, and let <2524-kathiemi-> down <2524-kathiemi-> to the earth <1093-ge->:

:12 Wherein <3757-hou-> were all <3956-pas-> manner <1485-ethos-> of fourfooted <5074-tetrapous-> beasts <5074-tetrapous-> of the earth <1093-ge->, and wild <2342-therion-> beasts <2342-therion->, and creeping <2062-herpeton-> things, and fowls <4071-peteinon-> of the air <3772-ouranos->.

:13 And there came <1096-ginomai-> a voice <5456-phone-> to him, Rise <0450-anistemi->, Peter <4074-Petros->; kill <2380-thuo->, and eat <5315-phago->.

:14 But Peter <4074-Petros-> said <2036-epo->, Not so <3365-medamos->, Lord <2962-kurios->; for I have never <3763-oudepote-> eaten <5315-phago-> any <3956-pas-> thing that is common <2839-koinos-> or <2228-e-> unclean <0169-akathartos->.

:15 And the voice <5456-phone-> [spake] unto him again <3825-palin-> the second <1208-deuteros-> time, What <3739-hos-> God <2316-theos-> hath cleansed <2511-katharizo->, [that] call <2840-koinoo-> not thou common <2840-koinoo->.

:16 This <5124-touto-> was done <1096-ginomai-> thrice <5151-tris->: and the vessel <4632-skeuos-> was received <0353-analambano-> up again <3825-palin-> into <1519-eis-> heaven <3772-ouranos->.

:17 Now <1161-de-> while <5613-hos-> Peter <4074-Petros-> doubted <1280-diaporeo-> in himself <1438-heautou-> what <5101-tis-> this <3588-ho-> vision <3705-horama-> which <3739-hos-> he had seen <1492-eido-> should mean <1498-eien->, behold <2400-idou->, the men <0435-aner-> which <3588-ho-> were sent <0649-apostello-> from Cornelius <2883-Kornelios-> had made <1239-diadidomai-> enquiry <1331-dierotao-> for Simon's <4613-Simon-> house <3614-oikia->, and stood <2186-ephistemi-> before <1909-epi-> the gate <4440-pulon->,

:19. While Peter <4074-Petros-> thought <1760-enthumeomai-> on <4012-peri-> the vision <3705-horama->, the Spirit <4151-pneuma-> said <2036-epo-> unto him, Behold <2400-idou->, three <5140-treis-> men <0435-aner-> seek <2212-zeteo-> thee.

:20 Arise <0450-anistemi-> therefore <0235-alla->, and get <2597-katabaino-> thee down <2597-katabaino->, and go <4198-poreuomai-> with them, doubting <1252-diakrino-> nothing <3367-medeis->: for I have sent <0649-apostello-> them.

:26 But Peter <4074-Petros-> took <1453-egeiro-> him up, saying <3004-lego->, Stand <0450-anistemi-> up; I myself also <2504-kago-> am <1510-eimi-> a man <0444-anthropos->.

:27 And as he talked <4926-sunomileo-> with him, he went <1525-eiserchomai-> in, and found <2147-heurisko-> many <4183-polus-> that were come <4905-sunerchomai-> together <4905-sunerchomai->.

:28 And he said <5346-phemi-> unto them, Ye know <1987-epistamai-> how <5613-hos-> that it is an unlawful <0111-athemitos-> thing for a man <0435-aner-> that is a Jew <2453-Ioudaios-> to keep <2853-kollao-> company <2853-kollao->, or <2228-e-> come <4334-proserchomai-> unto one of another <0246-allophulos-> nation <0246-allophulos->; but God <2316-theos-> hath shewed <1166-deiknuo-> me that I should not call <3004-lego-> any <3367-medeis-> man <0444-anthropos-> common <2839-koinos-> or <2228-e-> unclean <0169-akathartos->.

:29 Therefore <1352-dio-> came <2064-erchomai-> I [unto you] without <0369-anantirrhetos-> gainsaying <0369-anantirrhetos->, as soon as I was sent <3343-metapempo-> for: I ask <4441-punthanomai-> therefore <3767-oun-> for what <5101-tis-> intent <3056-logos-> ye have sent <3343-metapempo-> for me?

:30 And Cornelius <2883-Kornelios-> said <5346-phemi->, Four <5067-tetartos-> days <2250-hemera-> ago <0575-apo-> I was fasting <3522-nesteuo-> until <3360-mechri-> this <5026-taute-> hour <5610-hora->; and at the ninth <1766-ennatos-> hour <5610-hora-> I prayed <4336-proseuchomai-> in my house <3624-oikos->, and, behold <2400-idou->, a man <0435-aner-> stood <2476-histemi-> before <1799-enopion-> me in bright <2986-lampros-> clothing <2066-esthes->,

:32 Send <3992-pempo-> therefore <3767-oun-> to Joppa <2445-Ioppe->, and call <3333-metakaleo-> hither <3333-metakaleo-> Simon <4613-Simon->, whose <3739-hos-> surname <1941-epikaleomai-> is Peter <4074-Petros->; he is lodged <3579-xenizo-> in the house <3614-oikia-> of [one] Simon <4613-Simon-> a tanner <1038-burseus-> by the sea <2281-thalassa-> side <3844-para->: who <3739-hos->, when he cometh <3854-paraginomai->, shall speak <2980-laleo-> unto thee.

:33 Immediately <1824-exautes-> therefore <3767-oun-> I sent <3992-pempo-> to thee; and thou hast well <2573-kalos-> done <4160-poieo-> that thou art come <3854-paraginomai->. :35 But in every <3956-pas-> nation <1484-ethnos-> he that feareth <5399-phobeo-> him, and worketh <2038-ergazomai-> righteousness <1343-dikaiosune->, is accepted <1184-dektos-> with him.

:36 The word <3056-logos-> which <3739-hos-> [God] sent <0649-apostello-> unto the children <5207-huios-> of Israel <2474-Israel->, preaching <2097-euaggelizo-> peace <1515-eirene-> by Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos->: (he is Lord <2962-kurios-> of all <3956-pas->:)

:37 That word <4487-rhema->, [I say], ye know <1492-eido->, which was published <1096-ginomai-> throughout <2596-kata-> all <3650-holos-> Judaea <2449-Ioudaia->, and began <0756-archomai-> from Galilee <1056-Galilaia->, after <3326-meta-> the baptism <0908-baptisma-> which <3739-hos-> John <2491-Ioannes-> preached <2784-kerusso->;

:Acts 11

:9 But the voice <5456-phone-> answered <0611-apokrinomai-> me again <1208-deuteros-> from heaven <3772-ouranos->, What <3739-hos-> God <2316-theos-> hath cleansed <2511-katharizo->, [that] call <2840-koinoo-> not thou common <2839-koinos->.

:24 When John <2491-Ioannes-> had first preached <4296-prokerusso-> before <4383-prosopon-> his coming <1529-eisodos-> the baptism <0908-baptisma-> of repentance <3341-metanoia-> to all <3956-pas-> the people <2992-laos-> of Israel <2474-Israel->.

:25 And as John <2491-Ioannes-> fulfilled <4137-pleroo-> his course <1408-dromos->, he said <3004-lego->, Whom <5101-tis-> think <5282-huponoeo-> ye that I am <1511-einai->? I am <1510-eimi-> not [he]. :26 Men <0435-aner-> [and] brethren <0080-adephos->, children <5207-huios-> of the stock <1085-genos-> of Abraham <11>, and whosoever <3588-ho-> among <1722-en-> you feareth <5399-phobeo-> God <2316-theos->, to you is the word <3056-logos-> of this <5026-taute-> salvation <4991-soteria-> sent <0649-apostello->.

:27 For they that dwell <2730-katoikeo-> at <1722-en-> Jerusalem <2419-Hierousalem->, and their rulers <0758-archon->, because they knew <0050-agnoeo-> him not, nor <2532-kai-> yet the voices <5456-phone-> of the prophets <4396-prophetes-> which <3588-ho-> are read <0314-anaginosko-> every <3956-pas-> sabbath <4521-sabbaton-> day, they have fulfilled <4137-pleroo-> [them] in condemning <2919-krino-> [him].

:28 And though they found <2147-heurisko-> no <3367-medeis-> cause <0156-aitia-> of death <2288-thanatos-> [in him], yet desired <0154-aiteo-> they Pilate <4091-Pilatos-> that he should be slain <0337-anaireo->.
